"I can... hold off for... a good while."Twila managed to say in between short breath's. Kakashi ran into the emergency room and laid her down on the first bed he found. Twila's bright hair was in a tangled mess, sweat poured from her head, the frantic look in her eyes put a heavy weight in Kakashi's heart. Before he knew it, he was being pushed back by nurses and doctors surrounded her. She grasped his shirt sleeve and pulled herself up to his ear. "Get Gai's drunk ass over here, even if you have to drag him over here. One way or another, he's going to be here for her birth."

"Ow." Kakashi groaned, his arm screaming in pain as her nails dug into his skin. "I still must ask, how are you certain the baby's a girl?"

"Don't know, and now is not the time." Her words were heated and quick as she laid back down onto the mat. "I can hold off labor for a short while, not for another day. Haul ass and get my husband here, now!"

Kakashi dashed out of the hospital, running as fast as he could back to the apartment. He wanted to check on his children, but knew better than to delay his mission. If Guy missed the birth of his child, neither one could live with it.

Kakashi barged through the front door, Gai was still snoring loudly on the couch. Sighing heavily, he grabbed Gai and hoisted him over his shoulder.

"Alright, let's go."

Sweating and grunting, Kakashi dragged Gai out the apartment door and down the stairs. Gai slipped out of Kakashi's grasp and went tumbling down the apartment stairs. He landed at the bottom on his face with his legs bent in the air. Kakashi sighed, fighting off exhaustion as he barged down the wooden stairs and yanked Gai over his shoulder.

"Sometimes I wonder if this is mostly muscle." Kakashi mumbled to himself, walking as fast as he could to the hospital.

Kakashi managed to make it to Twila's room before dropping to the ground. Breathing heavily, he wiped off the sweat from the little exposed skin on his face. He shoved Gai off and managed to stand up. Twila was laying on the bed, rubbing her large baby bump with a wry smile.

"Baby girl's not here yet, so don't worry." She said with a tired smile and a wink. She relaxed back into her back into her bed, rubbing her baby bump as another contraction started up. Her tired eyes glanced down at her passed out husband, she shook her head and growled clearly aggravated. "Still out? That man! I swear he can sleep for days on end given the option."

"At least you're not causing me pain this time."

Twila sighed and tilted her head slightly, to look at him. A tired, heavily agitated look showed in her eyes. "Don't even talk to me about pain, little brother. I still have the birthing procedure to endure. I'm so furious with my 'husband' right now, you can't even begin to imagine."

"I'm sure, I don't blame you for being pissed." Kakashi sat in the white chair, wishing it was much more comfortable. He was definitely in the mood for a nap with the day he was having. He sighed exhaustively, and turned his head to look out the window. The sun had hidden behind dark clouds, signaling they were due for rain at any minute. Yet the villagers were carrying on their day, as if they were not concerned about the rain. And meanwhile, here he sat with his ready-to-give birth sister-in-law and his passed-out-drunk brother, and he was taking the blunt from everything.

Twila's soft sobs and sniffles brought him back to reality. Suddenly, she gasped, and became inhaling and exhaling rapidly. Kakashi shot up, and ran to her. He placed a hand on her back and another in her hand. She grasped his hand tightly until the contraction finally ceased, and her breathing returned to normal.

"What the hell was he thinking getting drunk the night before our baby's birth!?" She screamed and slammed her hands onto the mat, wiping away the tears on her red cheeks, and the saliva off her chin. "Here I am, in severe pain, about to deliver my first child. And where's my husband?! Passed out drunk!"

Kakashi sighed and braced himself for what will happen after he spoke. "Twila, in his defense, he didn't know you were going into labor this morning. Neither did you."

Twila scoffed and rolled her eyes.

"Of course you would stick up for him, just so typical." She growled then gasped. "OH! OW!"

"Easy." Kakashi ran his hand through her hair. He grabbed the cloth, and dabbed away the sweat from her forehead and her neck. Placing the cloth down on a night stand, he poured her a glass of water and helped her drink. "Don't strain yourself over this stress, you can't do that. Try to save your strength for the baby."

"How did Mari go through this twice?" Twila sobbed.

"Most certainly wasn't easy." Kakashi chuckled lightly, pulling off his right glove to reveal fainted scars on his knuckles and beneath his thumb. "I still have the scars from her nails on my hand."

"I'm gonna say something, and no, it's not the hormones talking." She assured, but Kakashi felt like it was something more than hormones. She took his hand lightly and held it over her heart. "You truly are a great man, Kakashi. Hell, look at what you've accomplished and you're not even middle age."

"Don't remind me, I still have three children to raise."

Twila chuckled, then kissed his hand. "I hope Gai can be there for you, as you have been for us."

"Both of you will." He assured her, then he caressed her check. "We have children to raise."
