((HEEEEEEEYYYYYY EVERYBODY! I'M ALIVE! I know I haven't posted in…forever, and I apologize. Things are very hectic in my life, and in a good way. I'm writing three stories here on Fanfiction and it's hard to decide which one to write! So on my free time, I re-read the whole story of In the Dark, and needless to say I impressed myself (not to toot my own horn or anything, but honk honk). I also found plot holes that must be filled with these bonus chapters. Here's the first one, and an overview of what this chapter is about and when it takes place at the beginning. These chapters are in no particular order, they just add to the story of In the Dark by giving different perspectives on certain events and what happened to each of the characters. I hope you all sincerely enjoy!))
This chapter takes place as the final battle with Dark Sonic concludes, and is in Amy's perspective.
There was a flash of light that filled the whole Fortress. I cringed away from it, but the thick shackles around my wrists restricted me from shielding my eyes. But it didn't hurt my eyes like I expected. No, this light seemed familiar. It seemed friendly, and full of hope and positivity. This was a one-of-a-kind light, and my thoughts jumped to one person who could cause it.
Super Sonic.
No, don't be silly. It can't be Super Sonic, he's…corrupted. That's the only way to describe him. There was only one other person that could be here that could cause that positive light.
Super Shadow.
He and Sally must be going up against Dark.
It wasn't long before the light faded. An invisible weight seemed to have been lifted from the air itself. It was easier to breathe. I could only guess that it was all over; all the suffering and looking over your shoulder and running. But who's here, and do they know where I am? Would I even be rescued? I could still die here. They might not find me.
The questions seemed unbearable. I may never get answers. I may still not get out of here alive.
I was supposed to be executed today by Dark.
Five minutes passed.
Ten minutes.
I wanted to scream, but my throat was already sore from crying for help for days in a row, knowing in my heart that no one would hear me, that no one was left to hear me. But now, my prayers were answered as I heard even, running footsteps coming down the hall that leads to the prison cells. They were so different from EXE footsteps. I never noticed until now. Weakly, I mustered up a breath and let out the last scream that could save my life.
"HEY!"
Sure enough, a set of footsteps stopped at my door. I heard the cock of a hammer, and the lock was shot. I heard it snap open. The door opened, and one of my closest friends walked in, looking a little worse for wear. Blood stained her shoulders, and she was covered in scrapes and looked dirty, though I'm sure I looked no better. Her read hair was atrocious, but this wasn't the time to care. In her hand, she held a pistol. She aimed it at the chains binding me and shot twice, one for each wrist. Only then could I smile, stand, and hug her with tear-filled eyes.
"Sally, thank Chaos…" I croaked.
I felt her smile against my shoulder. "I'm so glad…I thought you were gone…" she said.
I laughed a little, and soon the back of my red, torn dress and her coat were soaked in happy tears. Down the hall, I heard hoarse but happy reunions. All around me, the world was coming back together after the hell it went through. Finally, peace is being restored. I pulled away and looked Sally in the eyes. The one word I spoke voiced many questions; are we safe? Is all this over? Can life go back to normal? Is everything okay?
"Sonic…?" I said.
Sally smiled and nodded, and all questions were answered with "yes, everything is okay."
I get my Sonic back.
"Where is he?" I asked desperately.
"Unconscious. So is Shadow," Sally replied.
"I want to see him."
She nodded and we both walked out of the prison. Sally led me down an unfamiliar set of hallways, through a treasury to a ballroom.
It was unlike that of any room in Dark's Fortress; it looked freshly cleaned, the floors, railings, chandeliers, and pedestals holding the seven gleaming Chaos Emeralds all shined. But you could tell where whatever had cleansed this place had stopped; at the doorframe was an intricate pattern of swirls and waves between where the dust ended and the shining marble began. Shadow's positive energy must have cleaned the place. Now, two hedgehogs, one black with red highlights and the other with the azure quills I missed so much, lay unconscious in the room. They seemed at peace.
Sally sighed. "It's gonna take a lot of work to clean up the city after this…"
I shuddered. "Ugh, there's so much blood and gore and…" I gasped, realizing something, "oh my Chaos, Sonic's gonna have to wake up to see what he – Dark – did…"
Sally nodded solemnly.
I couldn't take it anymore. I broke down in tears and ran to Sonic's side and took him in my arms, his head lolling onto my shoulder. My Sonic…where had he been all this time? What had Dark done to him? He wouldn't be able to bear all that had happen… He didn't have to live through it. Did he? Did he have to watch what Dark did from behind his eyes? I don't even know if or when he'll wake up. No, I can't think so negatively. It didn't matter right now. In this moment, Sonic is here, safe, and not Dark. He can make everything okay just by being here. He makes me okay.
I sat there for a long time, until Sally insisted that we take both hedgehogs back to their homes to rest comfortably. I nodded and gently, though reluctantly, laid Sonic's head back on the floor, and put his hand across his chest, which rose and fall with each relaxed breath. I tore my eyes away from his face as I stood and walked out the door. I ignored all the blackness around me, for inside me there was light. There was hope that was no longer needed and everything was okay.
I am okay.
((As previously stated, these chapters will be very short. If you have ideas on bonus chapters for certain events for the story, and which character's POV to do it in, or what a character is doing after Dark is brought down from power, please let me know! I have very limited ideas for these, and could use your help! I'm finally in the mood to write again, and so hopefully more will come from me for you guys to read! Ta ta for now!))
