Luna woke up with the morning light shining from the window. She rolled over expecting Hunter laying beside her. There was nothing but an empty pillow. She was crushed. She looked around seeing she was back in her old room at Dee's house. Luna got up from the bed and tried to turn wolf. Nothing. She tried to connect through a daydream. Nothing more than a normal person. Her gifts were gone. She now just an average girl.
"Luna! Breakfast is ready." Dee called from downstairs. Luna took a deep breath realizing it was over. She made her way downstairs seeing Dee and Grey kissing why setting the table. "Morning. The wedding was perfect last night wasn't it."
"What?" Luna looked confused.
Dee giggled, "Grey looked handsome, didn't he? We are leaving for our honeymoon tomorrow morning. Grey has to finish up at the office today then we are off to Cabo."
Luna started to have a flood of replaced memories that were all side by side with the real ones with Hunter. Just like the show she manipulated. Only this time, it wasn't her doing.
"Oh. Yeah. You both looked great." Luna dropped her head. "It was magical. Perfect."
"Lu, you ok?" Grey set down a plate of food in front of her. "Ever since that mugger attacked you in Chicago you have been out of it. It's like your hallucinations took over. After you saw the doctor and they removed the tumor you seem better but, I'm worried. Are you sure you're ok with being here alone?"
Luna sat thinking, "You know. I'm going to be ok. I really am. I feel good. Go have fun."
A replaced memory entered her mind that went alongside the night she was turned. It was like the bonding ritual was showing her new memories. What happened in human life. But her memories of Hunter and the Kliq was still very real.
Dee went over and hugged her. "Of course you are. We're going to be gone for three weeks. We won't be back by your birthday. We wanted to give you this." Dee handed her an envelope. Luna opened it revealing tickets to WWE SummerSlam. "Grey wanted to make up for skipping out the last time. We are going to pay for everything. Just the three of us." Luna dropped them grabbing her mouth and started crying. She ran out of the room and back to her room slamming the door. She threw herself down on the bed crying.
Dee walked in sitting by her bedside. "Baby girl. You ok? I know since you thought it was Triple H and the Kliq that saved you it's been hard for you. It was just a hallucination Lu Lu. You're better now. But, look on the bright side. You get to see him again at Summerslam. Luna, we need to talk. Grey and I were thinking. You only had a year left of college. You've been struggling to figure out your life. It's time you go back and finish your degree and start writing full time. The blackouts have stopped. It's time to live your life again. Your books are great but…"
"But, what?" Luna sat up. "Say it, Dee. They aren't selling."
"No, they aren't selling as much as we expected. Your new book seems to not have an ending. You just stopped writing. I was just thinking maybe you could have a backup plan. There are tons of writing jobs. Just think about it."
Luna rolled her eyes, "You sound like that bitch April. I'm almost done with my book. I just need a little more time. I'll think about it."
"Why did you run out earlier? Don't you want to go to SummerSlam? It's front row."
"Yes. I'm just stressed out. Thanks for the tickets."
"No problem. Come eat with us. Things are going to be ok. I just know it." Dee hugged her.
'It's never really going to be ok. Not without him,' Luna thought.
August 25, 2002 SummerSlam…
It had been two months since Luna had seen Hunter in person. She had never felt so alone since waking up knowing that he was not there and would never remember her. SummerSlam weekend was here and Luna, Greg, and Dee were heading into the colosseum. Luna felt like her heart was going to beat out of her chest. She was holding on to the hope of if he only saw her in the crowd maybe he would remember.
She tried her best to seem excited for the sake of her family but, deep down her heart was breaking. After a short while, Luna felt closed-in watching the pre-show. "Dee, I'm going to go to the restroom and maybe get some air."
"Everything ok?"
"Fine. It's just stuffy in here. I'll be back."
Luna headed to the restroom and when she came out she saw there was a door leading outside. She saw a few wrestlers goofing around outside. Since no one else was around in the hallway she thought she would check it out. She looked out the door and saw X-Pac talking with Kevin and Scott leaning up against a WWE semi-truck. Two men walked over greeting them.
Luna held her breath. "Hunter." She started to run to him and Pac looked up seeing her. He pointed to her.
"Hunter watch out. Fangirl!"
Luna ran over in tears grabbing Hunter and spinning him around. He had a look of confusion. "Whoa! Watch it, lady!"
A security guard grabbed her and pulled her back.
Hunter stopped them. "Hey. Don't hurt her. Miss, you can't be back here. You need to head back to your seat ok?"
Luna tried to break free from the guard. "Hunter please remember."
"I'm sorry. Do I know you?" She saw it in his eyes. He had no idea who she was. She looked around at the other guys and all of them looked confused. Shawn walked over.
"You look familiar. Do we know you?"
"Yes. I mean. I don't know."
Shawn looked sympathetic. "Wait. Aren't you that girl that got attacked at the Chicago show?"
Kevin walked over checking her out, "No that girl had brown hair. This girl has all-white hair."
Luna ran her fingers through her hair. "It's white from trauma. It used to be brown. That was me."
Shawn shook her hand and a little electric shock hit him. "Shit! You shocked me. Well, we don't want to be rude. We have to get back inside. Glad you're ok now. Enjoy the show sweetie."
She realized they didn't remember her. "Just wanted to say…(She hesitated still trying to keep hope.) Thanks for helping me out in Chicago." She looked at Hunter hoping he would remember. He just looked away ignoring her.
The security guy took her arm. "Ok miss. Time for you to go. Head back to your seat."
"Ok. I'm sorry." She walked away and Hunter saw how sad she looked.
"Hey, Miss."
She turned back. "Yes."
"Enjoy the show."
Even though he was just trying to be nice it felt like a blow to the heart. She ran back inside crying.
Kevin walked up beside Hunter and Shawn. "What was that about?"
Hunter rubbed his head, "I don't know. Even with her white hair, she's really pretty. Don't you think?"
Later that night Hunter and Shawn had a match. They were feuding on the show and even though it would be a bloody battle they were loving it. When any of the wolves were in the ring they could let loose and let out a little aggression but still stay close friends.
Luna watched as her Alpha and Beta made it to the ring and started their match. As they fought memories came flooding back to her. After the match, Shawn had won. Hunter was a heel now and the chance that he would even look at her was slim. In a split second as he exited the ring area he looked back and her and gave a short half-smile. Luna sat down as everyone else was on their feet cheering Shawn. Hunter walked away and she knew it was over. He had forgotten her.
She felt her head pounding from the headache that came on. Luna started to get frustrated. She looked around the stadium watching people cheer. Then the answer came to her. She jumped up and grabbed Dee.
"You're right. It's time I take control of my life. I'm going back to school. I'm getting my journalism and public relations degree. I'm going to be a writer and finish my book. Then when I'm ready, I'm going to work at WWE. I'm going to be the best damn writer you've ever seen and Dreamer is going to be the biggest fiction book since Harry freakn' Potter! And, I'm going to marry Triple H."
Dee was looking at her friend like she lost her mind. "You ok? Have you finally snapped, Lu Lu?"
"No. I'm just sick of putting my life on hold for my illness. I'm going to beat this damn cancer and I'm taking my life back!"
Dee and Grey looked at her in shock. "Cancer?"
"Yes. Grey. Dee. I have cancer. The tumor was cancer. I'm going to fight and I'm not going to give up. That man walking up the ramp is going to mine again. Mark my words. Today is the day I make my own destiny!" Luna headed out of the crowd to go to the car.
Dee turned to Grey, "Do you think she is ok? What does she mean by making him hers again?"
Grey shrugged, "Hey as long as she is getting out of this slump she's been in, let her do whatever she thinks she has to do."
