Disclaimer: If you recognize it, I don't own it!

T'was just after the party and all through the Academy, not a creature was stirring; except for the creepy, evil looking shadow looming over Link's sleeping body. The shadowy figure slowly drew is large, bulky weapon and prepared to attack.

*WHAM*

"What the hell?!"

Link sat up fast as the force of the pillow came down upon his head hard. Lighting the candle beside his bed, he looked to see who it was that attacked him.

"Kagome?"

And, boy, did she look pissed.

"Why did you hit me for?"

Her eyes narrowed as she once more drew her weapon and attacked.

"You."

WHAM

"Do not."

SLAM

"Kiss a girl."

POUND

And then."

THWACK

"Leave!"

SLAM

Link looks up at her in disbelief as he recovers from his cowering position.

"That's it," he asks. "That is why you're attacking me?"

With a growl, she once more raises her pillow of doom and aims it at his head. Seeing the incoming assault, Link grabs her wrist as it comes down and pulls her onto the bed beside him. Wrapping his arms around her, he holds her captive.

"Will you stop abusing me with your pillow?"

"You deserve every hit you…"

Kagome's rant was cut ridiculously short as Link covered her mouth with his own.

Feeling her relax, Link pulls away.

"Have you calmed down yet?"

It took Kagome a second to answer.

"Why do you keep kissing me?"

"Because I want to."

"But why?"

He chuckled as he leant over and blew out the candle. Drawing her closer, he covered them both with his blanket before answering.

"Because you're special to me," he replied. "Now go to sleep, we'll talk more in the morning."

And sleep they did.

~* The Next Morning *~

After hitting the bazaar and stocking up, Link and Kagome made their way to Lanayru Desert to search for the next trial.

"All I want to know is, why me?"

Link stops and looks at her in exasperation.

"How many different ways do I have to say it," he asks. "I like you. Not the shop girl, not Zelda or any of those other girls."

"And I just want to know why!"

He shrugs.

"Because you're Kagome."

"…How the hell is that an answer?!"

With a sigh, Link grabs her hand and begins walking along the sand once more.

"It just is."

"But I'm mean to you and beat you up."

"You tease me and although you're slightly violent, I do give as good as I get when it comes to you."

"I still don't understand why you would want someone like me instead of someone like Zelda."

"Pretty sure I mentioned how I didn't like how your sister tends to treat me like a child."

"Still doesn't answer the question."

Stopping, Link turns to face the confused girl and looks her straight in the eye.

"It's hard to explain," he confesses. "When you're around, the world seems so much brighter and lively. Being near you brings me a sense of peace that makes me never want to leave your side. I just want to be with you, there is no other reason."

A tear escapes Kagome's eye as she listens to him. No words seem right, so she responds to his confession the only way she could think of. Gently placing her hands on both sides of his face, she draws him close and kisses him. There were no fireworks or earthquakes, but there was an emotion new to them both that was slowly building within them that would rock them to their very core.

Love was making itself known.

Ending the kiss, the two hold each other before returning to business.

"Let's go find that trial gate and see what new toy we get!"

Link just chuckles at her enthusiasm.

Walking through the desert, they soon come to the entrance of the Lanayru Mining Facility.

"I remember this place."

"You should," said Link as he drew his sword. "We were just here not too long ago."

Not waiting for a reply, he begins to dowse for the Trial Gate.

"Huh."

"What?"

"The gate is right there."

And sure enough, Link's sword was pointing not even ten feet from them.

Withdrawing the harp from his bag, Link begins the duet with Fi to open the gate. Slamming the Master Sword into the ground, Link once more loses contact with the outside world.

"I suppose I should meditate while I wait for him to finish."

Getting comfortable, Kagome takes a deep breath and begins to relax.

~* Dreamscape *~

"Hello New-Kagome."

"Hello Old-Kagome."

Gome stick her tongue out playfully.

"Before we begin this sessions beating, how are things in the outside world?"

"Well…"

"Go on."

"On our last trip to Skyloft, we found out that my father was throwing a birthday party for Zelda to help keep up morale for the people."

"Aren't the two of you twins?"

"Yep. But no one really remembers me. Even my own father forgets about me sometimes!"

"Sounds harsh."

"It is," she agrees. "Anyway, so the whole town is getting ready for the party…"

She spends the next hour or so telling Gome everything that has happened since that night.

"So Link confessed to you, did he?"

"The only bright spot of my life right now."

Gome winces as she hears that.

"Just out of curiosity, what does Zelda think of Link?"

"She's been after him since we were children."

"Really?"

"Yeah. She would always get mad when he would prefer to chase bugs with me that play princess with her."

Gome is silent for a while.

"You know," she begins. "I might know why people keep forgetting about you."

Kagome perks up.

"Really?"

"Yeah…"

Kagome's eyes narrow.

"What is it?"

"Basically, the powers that be screwed up."

"Huh?!"

"When Demise was sealed, the Goddess's immortal body was destroyed so she asked the powers that be that she be reborn as a mortal when it came time for the seal to fail."

"I know all this, what has that got to do with me?"

"Well, when she was reborn the powers thought it would be a good idea to gradually introduce her powers to her new body so that when she awoke as the Goddess, her powers wouldn't destroy her."

"Still not seeing where I come in."

"Basically, the powers put heavenly powers into an emotional child who had no idea how to control them. My thinking is that when your sister was upset that Link was playing with you and not with her, she was unintentionally trying to get Link to forget about you and pay attention to her."

"I'm not liking where this is going."

Gome gave her a wry smile as she continued.

"It may be that her powers were following her emotions and tried to do her will, which is what they are supposed to do. But, now that we know that Link is the Goddess's chosen hero, that type of influence really had no effect on him. "The normal people of Skyloft, however…" she trails off with a wince.

"Since there was no divine protection for them like there was for Link, they were hit instead of him."

"Sounds about right."

Kagome just stared off into space.

"Kagome?"

"You mean to tell me that all this time, it was my sister who made everyone forget about me all because of a STUPID BOY?!"

"One, I'm pretty sure she didn't know she was doing it. And two, didn't you just enter into a relationship with said stupid boy?"

"Who the hell cares?!"

~* End Dreamscape *~

"You look upset."

A/N: Thank you, Captain Obvious!

Kagome slowly opens her eyes and glares at him.

Link gulps nervously.

"Anything interesting happen?"

She slowly stands up and walks over to him.

"Kagome?"

Drawing her hand into a fist, she rears back and slugs him in the arm.

"Ow, he cries. "What the hell?"

"It's your fault you stupid boy," she hisses.

Link is just scared now.

~* One long explanation later *~

"So," begins Link. "What it all comes down to is your sister was jealous I spent more time with you than her so she accidently made everyone forget about you since her own divine protection prevented me from forgetting."

"That's pretty much it, yes."

"So how is this my fault again?"

"You're were, and still are, too cute for your own good."

Link pinches the bridge of his nose to ward off the coming headache.
