Hi, so here is another chapter-Fanfiction has been down and school has been a mess recently and I've had some other issues so I apologise for the delay but here it is.

So back into the swing of It and finally some action-the other chapters were filler ones but like I said the Zelena period is coming up and that's the part of the story that I have been seriously looking forward to the most so...

Next Chapter-Going Home-With the storm clouds gathering around them Killian is forced to make the most heart breaking decision of his life.

The Pirate's Son

Chapter 28-The New Neverland

In which Killian and Liam reunite but the never ending magical game of chess puts the characters of Storybrooke in a position that ensures the Captain must make one of the most heart-breaking decisions of his life. (Part One of Two)

Belle had woken up that morning with a strange feeling in the pit of her stomach. It was the feeling that maybe today, finally it was it.

Maybe today they would come back.

It was what she thought when she wrapped Liam up in his woollen jacket and led him by the hand following Ariel who had a solid lead on where Eric was.

It was what she was thinking when she felt Liam press into her side when she saw the knife crash down, what she thought of when she saw Eric and Ariel embrace and what she finally thought when she turned around to see a ship heading towards them.

It was the ship.

It was the ship.

They were home.

And when she saw Rumple stagger off looking slightly worse for were but still so very, very alive she no longer cared that Liam's hand was pulled out of hers.

Because for once-everything had gone their way.

Killian for the most part had nearly knocked Regina overboard on his rush to get the ship to dock. He staggered off looking around wildly as Belle all but launched herself at the Dark One.

And then it came, the sound that he had been yearning for, for nearly a week.

"Papa!"

He barely had time to react when something small, hard and heavy threw himself at him.

Liam.

With a small cry that only somebody standing close to him would ever here Killian scooped up his son pressing his small body against his own burying his face against Liam's neck. "My boy" he muttered breathing in heavily his whole body thrumming with the knowledge that Liam was safe and secure and here.

"My perfect little boy" he crooned to himself pressing a kiss into the tuft of brown hair "Baby" he said pulling back to check Liam out himself with frantic eyes, looking over the face he had been denied the sight of for nearly a week.

"Are you alright?" he asked and Liam nodded a smile on his face and Killian couldn't help the infectious grin on his face.

He pulled back only to see Swan smile at them and Liam waved. Smiling she waved back catching Killian's eye with a warm look he wasn't sure what to make off.

But he didn't care-because right at that moment he had everything he could possibly need.

They had got to Granny's and Liam had spent most of the time curled up in Killian's lap his eyes fluttering close. He thanked Belle who smiled and said she would drop off all Liam's things in the morning and hooked his small sleeping son on his hip before carrying him to the ship.

On the way however he met Neal.

And he needed to say what he had to say now.

Neal blinked when Killian told him he was prepared to give him, Henry and Emma a chance to be a family. "What changed your mind?" he asked cautiously and Killian shrugged careful not to dislodge Liam. "I want to spend some time with my son" he said not willing to admit the truth.

"Go spend time with yours"

And that night when Liam woke up and crawled into his bed pressing his face against Killian's chest he didn't say a word. For once he didn't mind.

The next morning he finally got to hold his son's hand as they walked down the streets of Storybrooke Liam chattering incessantly about school and how he had helped Belle with work.

Tink smiled as she sat down next to him when Liam was scribbling away "Don't even try whatever is running through your mind" she warned and Killian laughed at her. He was so happy right about now that he didn't care so much as to what she was alluding to.

Though he would be lying if he said he honestly had never thought of it.

A scream shattered the illusion of peace and Liam jumped two clean feet in the air curling onto his lap. Killian shushed him while looking for any signs of a threat. When he found none he wrapped Liam up and onto his hip and followed Tink out the back door.

He didn't even have to know what the hell was going on when he saw Charming cover up the body of the Mother Superior. Instinctually he buried Liam's face in his shoulder. There was no need for his boy to be scared of anything or anyone.

Because as he watched Emma run up the steps her blonde hair flying he knew with only the sinking dread that anyone on the island would feel who was here with them.

Sometime later still clutching Liam-not that he would be able to prise his son's little fingers away from his jacket (he had forgotten how persistent Liam could be) they arrived at Regina's vault.

He only just managed to control his shudder as he saw Henry in Pan's body.

Sneaky bastard had conned them all. Again.

But that wasn't what made him feel sick, that wasn't what made him clutch a tired Liam close to him, that wasn't what made him feel like his heart was going to slam out of his chest in panic.

No that was that the two most powerful practitioners of magic who had ever lived (Regina had surpassed her mother on so many more levels and as loathe as he was to admit it The Dark One wasn't named The Dark One without a reason) were predicting a coming of a curse and that there was nothing they could do to stop it.

And just like that Killian knew there wasn't going to be a happy ending.
