Chapter 28 – Dreams
"I can hardly believe I wrote all this!" Sam sighed as she pushed the heavy binder further away along the coffee table.
Jack handed her the mint tea he'd prepared and sat down next to her sipping his own coffee. He delicately took hold of Sam's bare feet and started to massage the soles; Sam contentedly let him, her legs resting on his muscled thighs.
"Anyway, whether you want it or not, this is all yours!" he softly answered.
"My dad did tell me one day I was scary, I think I'm starting to understand why..."
"I don't think that's quite what he meant..."
"You were there?" was Sam's hopeful reply.
"No, but you did tell me about it later. It was quite difficult for him to understand you, because your IQ was already high then; you were asking numerous relevant questions which were quite beyond the scope of a child your age, and very few parents are actually equipped to deal with it."
"And what if he or she is like me?" Sam asked, softly resting her hands on her slightly protruding baby bump.
"Well you obviously are more intelligent than the average person, you'll manage. That'll be your department anyway, 'cause I can deal with sports, movies and games, but not astrophysics or nanotechnology! You'll teach our kid the three Rs, and I'll take care when it's time to tell him or her of the birds and the bees, cross my heart!" Jack answered, still rubbing his wife's feet.
He gave her a soft smile as she laughed at his words. Sam relaxed more and more feeling her husband's skilled hands massaging her feet, exhaling one pleasured sigh after the other.
"Hmmm... it feels so good... nearly better than sex!"
"Oh! Wait a minute, I should point out you're amnesic, remember? You shouldn't draw hasty conclusions from our shower interlude only, you haven't got enough empirical data!" Jack protested, falsely outraged by his wife's words.
Sam laughed and gave him an impish smile.
"Well, show me what you can do then!"
Jack's hands slowly inched up Sam's bare legs as he got up and turned towards her. He hitched her skirts high up her thighs before grabbing her hips to carry her to their bedroom. Sam twined her long legs around his waist and they exchanged hot kisses as they walked along the corridor. She could feel Jack's arousal more and more as she kissed him again and again, which in turn warmed her core to a nearly unbearable heat. Jack made love to her for a long time, slowly, patiently, calmy but above all lovingly, and Sam eventually lost count of the number of times she reached the stars.
Later that night, snuggling closer to Jack, Sam declared:
"If it's always like this, forget what I said, sex is much, much, much better!"
Jack laughed as he softly stroked her back in a gentle caress.
"I knew you'd end up changing your mind! I have to admit though, my footrubs are the best in the whole wide world!"
Sam got even closer to Jack, if it were at all possible, and put her arm over his lean waist.
"Sleep now, my love," he softly said, putting a soft kiss upon her brow.
She nodded, and as her breathing slowed after a few minutes Jack understood she was peacefully asleep; he eventually joined her in a peaceful slumber of his own.
Jack was jerked awake when Sam cried out in her sleep. She sat up, passing her hands on her face and panting, attempting to catch her breath.
"Sam?"
"I... I think I had a nightmare..."
"I know, it does happen quite often. Lie down, I'm here, it's gonna be okay."
Sam complied, lying flat on the bed, the covers up to her chin. Jack was lying on his side, his head resting on his closed fist. He softly caressed her face and her hair, in a soothing gesture, whispering consoling words, but she found herself unable to get back to sleep.
"D'ya wanna talk about it?"
"I... I think it was a hellish place, a blazing inferno... you were there, you and Dad both... We were all tortured but we did manage to help a woman get away..."
"That was Ne'tu, your father had been captured and thanks to Jolinar having shared your consciousness previously, we ended up finding him. Jolinar had been the only one to ever escape the prison and you kept some of her memories, do you remember?"
"Mmmh... and Martouf?"
"Yeah, he was there too. It was a bit... awkward, 'cause Jolinar had... let's say seduced her way out and he didn't know. I'm sorry these are the memories you remembered, they date back to before we were truly happy..."
"Well, I think making love stimulated my memories because a few pleasant ones did resurface."
Usually, Jack would have taken the opportunity to make love to her again, but she was too upset.
"Which ones?" he asked, changing the subject.
"A few of us, our first night together I think... and the ones that followed," she softly replied.
"Cool, these are good memories," Jack answered, now softly stroking her spine. He was lying flat on his back again, Sam's head resting on his torso.
"Did we really get to see a black hole up close?"
"Oh yeah, and we even took advantage of the time distortion... for a quickie at the SGC!"
"What? No way, that's crazy!"
"Well, we did think we were gonna die, so..."
Sam softly smiled.
"And did we really blow up a sun too?"
"Excuse me ma'am, you were the one who blew up a sun!"
"What's the use anyway? I can't even put it on my resumé!" Sam chuckled, as Jack smiled in the dark.
A/N2: another trip along memory lane for Sam, and some laughter to relieve the tension. Hope everyone enjoyed it, and see y'all Friday. R&R please? Mwah xxx
