Okay, I promised the sleepover. First, let's find out who Heather took blood from most recently! Thanks for your reviews, Ali6132, DarkQueenOfWonderland, Crystalmoon39, pirateships45 and the guest reviewer. And I know, that was a little shocking last chapter, but...ok, maybe I should lay off the M-rated fanfics. Am I right?
On Friday night, Heather decided to feed from Trent, the well known guitarist and songwriter in their school, and very much a girl magnet because of it. She'd also lined up another boy for the next week.
"Remember that vampire quiz?" Dakota had whispered to her that afternoon. "The one that was from that book in freshman year – and it said who would you feed on first, and one of the choices was the most sexy guys in the world? Why don't you try that kind of thing?"
"Like, Justin?" Heather had asked.
Dakota shrugged. "Sure. There's tons of others, though."
That was how Heather ended up in the room of one of the most talented juniors in school. He tasted like mint and strawberries, natural and sweet. He slept on, oblivious to what had just taken place.
Lindsay and Dakota arrived at Heather's house around seven the next evening. Both of them seemed stunned when Heather finally introduced them to Alejandro, although Lindsay, luckily, didn't recognize him and seemed to have no memory of her "dream". However, she did act pretty girly and giggled when he addressed her. She didn't notice his fangs, either, but then she hadn't noticed Heather's, either.
Dakota was a bit more in control of herself and smiled politely, but kept her composure and stayed completely coherent and while she was nice, she asked tons of questions.
The girls discussed it while they were on their own, that night. "He is soooo hot!" Lindsay sighed. "If I wasn't dating Tyler, I'd totally ask him out!" Heather sent her a death glare. "Oops, sorry, I mean, he's hot, but I wouldn't ever ask him out!"
Dakota shrugged. "He's gorgeous, but not really my type. He's charming and all, but I get the feeling that there's nothing that fazes him. No insecurities or anything." She looked at Heather questioningly.
"Maybe." Heather gave a sigh. "I don't know. I guess if there was anything, it would be, like, a control freak thing. Whenever I give in to him, or let him overpower me, he gets this look, like it's pleasurable or something." The dark-haired girl grimaced.
Dakota chuckled. "Some guys get off from the weirdest things. At least most people actually do like control – even if he's a bit over the top about it. So..." she smirked, "Is that what it's like at night, too?"
Heather knew exactly what she meant, and she nodded shyly. "I could never really fight back when we first met – even if I said stop, he'd keep going until I wanted nothing more but for him to never stop."
As of now, Dakota was the only virgin of the group. Lindsay, although she didn't sleep around, was so innocent and eager to please that she'd slept with Tyler pretty early on in their relationship. And Heather had lost her virginity to Alejandro – she was more careful and had never slept with a previous boyfriend because she'd wanted to wait until she found the "right" guy – she figured she'd know who it was when she started dating him.
"And now?" Dakota pressed.
Heather shrugged. "Now, there's no point in resisting. If I'm really not up for it, he'll usually leave me alone. If I am, why should I say no?"
"Uh...because you don't want to?" Lindsay suggested.
Heather rolled her eyes. "First, Lindsay, it was a rhetorical question. Second, I already said he'd leave me alone if I don't want to. This is if I want to!"
"Ohhhhhh." Lindsay said, the way she usually did when someone explained something to her. "What does rhetorical mean?" she added, and her friends facepalmed.
"Rhetorical means that the question isn't meant to be answered." Dakota told her kindly. "You need to stop skipping English class, girl. Anyway," she turned back to Heather. "I still don't get how everything happened. Why you?"
"I asked the same thing." Heather told her. "Apparently, it's because I started by saying no. Then, when he came back later on, I kept saying no. Except when he...you know."
"No, we don't." Lindsay said blankly. Dakota whispered it to her, and Lindsay finally got it.
Dakota frowned. "So it's just, like, a hard to get thing? What makes you like him?"
Heather shrugged. "He says we're alike. You know, strong-willed, determined, tough...basically, all that's missing is a longer fuse and compulsion."
"Compulsion?" repeated Dakota. "You mean, he has a power to just make people do what he wants?"
"How did you think he could just wake up a girl in her room and calm her down enough to make her agree to let him do whatever he wanted with her?" Heather said with a laugh. Dakota laughed with her – even Lindsay joined in. Heather had mentioned that Alejandro had been with several girls at night, but made out to Lindsay that it was just seduction, and that he'd stopped since he met her.
"Are you sure you don't have that power, Heather?" Dakota asked. "Like, are you sure compulsion isn't a ...you know..." she said, glancing at Lindsay, "...special thing?"
"Not really." Heather answered. "He said it was cause he was naturally talented in persuasion and being...you know...just made him even more powerful. But then, he did say that my natural talent probably became supernaturally strong too. That is a special thing." Luckily, Lindsay wasn't paying attention, plaiting a lock of her hair.
"So...what's your power?" Dakota asked, only 80 percent sure of what Heather was going to answer.
"Manipulation." Heather replied. "It's pretty much a more complicated way of persuasion, right? I can't just switch on that little bit more charm and expect everyone to do as I say – I just find a way to get around everyone with a few little words." She grinned. "That'll be useful for getting around a few more people." After all, Heather primarily kept Lindsay around because she was easy to manipulate. She'd rather have someone smart who would cater to her every whim, but hadn't yet found anyone susceptible to manipulation who would do that. Maybe now, she could find someone.
Heather was quieter than usual for most of the sleepover. She was planning, trying to think of who to test out her power on, just to make sure it worked, and if it did, who to use it on.
Although Heather didn't know it, Alejandro was planning too. He was getting frustrated. Heather was much trickier to conquer than he'd expected. He knew when she'd be his. The day that she'd decide she'd rather stay with him than go to school, the day she'd be willing to let him know how she really felt, the day he'd be able to do what he wanted with her.
What he didn't realize, though, was that the day was coming soon. Much sooner than anyone had ever expected.
So, what would the problem be with that? Tune in next time to find out!
