We watched as the red-eyed demons flew into the air and Syaoran leapt up to attack. As the young boy kicked, Kurogane landed near Fai and I.

"What was that interrogation for?" The magician asked the swordsman.

"If you watch the way he fights you'll see what I mean." Kurogane answered. I continued to stare at the young boy, trying to find something wrong.

"Well." Fai said, catching it before I could. I honestly had no idea what they were talking about. Just as a demon was about to hit Syaoran from behind, Kurogane jumped in and slashed the creature with his sword.

"I'm talking about your right eye, Syaoran." The swordsman said, "I thought your style was a bit off ever since I first saw you in battle, but it wasn't until you went up against that demon in battle last night that I knew for sure." I tugged on Fai's coat sleeve gently.

"What's wrong with his eye?" I asked him quietly as three more demons appeared in front of our hunter duo.

"He can't see anything out of his right eye." Fai explained to me with a sort of serious half smile. My eyes went wide in shock. I would never have guessed.

"Leave yourself exposed like that to a stronger demon and you won't escape with just a scratch."

"I know what I'm risking." The young boy said, sounding wise beyond his years, "Still, I made a solemn vow and I'll keep it." He immediately leapt forward, kicking at the demons.

"That's our boy." Fai grinned, "He'll keep his promises no matter what the odds against him. He's a man of his word."

"He's such a strong and good person." I added, resting my head against Fai's shoulder as we watched the pair defeat the demons.

"Yah, too noble for his own good." Kurogane said, while slicing one of the black monsters in half. Once they were all defeated, Fai and I got up from our seats.

"Nice work guys!" I told them.

"Yah, that'll certainly help with our funds." Fai added, "I was especially impressed by you Syaoran, you really plowed through them." The blonde almost sounded like a proud father the way he admired the younger boy.

"Thanks to Kurogane backing me up." Syaoran replied.

"There's a practical reason you rely entirely on kicks when you fight, isn't there? It increases your field of vision!" Fai smiled.

"Yah." The young boy answered.

"You come up with that on your own?" Kurogane questioned.

"No, somebody taught me that technique a long time ago when I was little."

"So, now that we've got all of our facts straight, how about it Kuro-puu? Will you still hunt these demons with a one eyed partner?" Fai asked.

"A one eyed bad ass partner." I added. Syaoran moved to stand in front of the swordsman, looking up at him with determination and hope.

"I want to help fight and I will do my best not to put anyone at risk, let me keep my promise." The younger boy said, bowing deeply.

"This one is up to you, Kurgie." Fai said, letting the taller man know that the decision to let Syaoran fight was 100% his.

"Yah, whatever." Kurogane replied half-heartedly.

"You won't regret it, I swear!" Syaoran told him. I smiled, clapping a little bit happily.

"Hey!" A female voice called out. We all looked to the top of a building to see a high-school aged girl, a man roughly my age, and a cute dog standing on the roof, "You guys knocked them off already, didn't you?"

"Those were supposed to be our prey, boy." The man said.

"Yikes~" I spoke, feeling a little nervous, and moving to hide behind Fai. The blonde gently grabbed my hand, reassuring me everything would be okay as the pair of strangers jumped down to street level. The young girl saluted at us, a big smile on her face, as the taller man stood with his hands resting on his hips.
