"Artemis, you stop this now!" I shouted. All the mortals were staring at us like some soap opera or something.
She glared at me with her teeth bared. "No! I will not let him get away with it!" She seethed.
Apollo stared at Athena and me with wide eyes. I had to think of a way to stop this.
"I think I get why Apollo did what he did to Orion," I told Artemis.
Athena glared at me with a mad look on her face. Are you crazy? What do you think you're doing? She asked me mentally.
I know what I'm doing! I replied. Just trust me on this.
Artemis stared at me in curiosity as she waited for my answer.
"You were a demigod, right?" I started. "Zeus vowed to not force you into marriage and you enjoyed hunting with Apollo...," I sighed. "The possible reason why Apollo killed Orion was because he was protective of you! He didn't want you to be taken advantage of. He also didn't want you to be held back because of men, too.
"I can see it for his point of view, Artemis. You're fun, loving, kind... Apollo didn't want anyone to hold you back from your full potential. He was probably just afraid to lose you. You're his sister, and he didn't want you to drift away from him." I ended.
Artemis's eyes was cleared from the negative haze and she let Apollo go. Apollo gave me a look of gratitude.
You owe me, I told Apollo mentally. He immediately nodded, acknowledging my words.
Artemis closed her eyes tightly and tears were threatening to spill. She started to sob and I ran over to her, hugging her. Athena hugged her too. We were all like sisters, supporting each other. Artemis's only true sibling could only stand near her, watching her break down into tears. I let go of Artemis and walked over to Apollo.
"I didn't think of her happiness," he whispered to me. "I've hurt my older sister. After she found out I was behind everything, we just... we never really talked. We don't hunt together anymore like we did when we were demigods. Now it really feels like it was millennium ago."
I sighed. "I have to think of something to help her. Meanwhile, it's now your job to make her happy."
He gave me a wistful smile full of gratitude. "Thank you again, Bella."
"You guys made me late for my first family dinner. You're coming to my wedding tomorrow, right?" I asked.
He nodded. "Go. We don't want to make you any later."
I left in a second and found Edward standing in front of the porch, waiting for me. I surprised him from behind with a hug.
He smiled my favorite smile. "You almost made me worried when you didn't come on time."
I grimaced. "Well, complications arise when something important happens."
"What?" He kissed my forehead. "Wardrobe malfunction?"
I shrugged. "You could say that."
With that, we left for the Underworld, standing right in front of my father's palace. I knocked on the door two times before someone answered.
A lady that looked a few years older than me opened the door. She was tall and pale, with long black hair cascading down her back. Her eyes kept changing color and she smiled down sadly at us. I couldn't understand why.
"Hello there," she said. Her voice sounded musical, as if someone had hit the xylophone. "I'm Persephone, your father's wife. You must be Isabella. Hades has told me a lot about you."
Your father's wife. The words sounded bizarre from someone who wasn't my mother.
"Call me Bella." I told her. "This is my fiancé, Edward." I introduced Edward to her. I glanced at him and he was looking at me as well.
"Oh," her voice started to sound sadder. I felt pity for her. She wasn't with the man whom she loved. She could probably see the intimate emotions Edward & I had for each other.
I wished I hadn't made her uncomfortable on the first few seconds we have met. She moved aside for us. "Come in," she waved towards the inside of the house and we entered.
"So where's my father?" I asked.
"He's in the dining room. I should probably tell you that —"
She bit back her words and I could see her struggling. I felt like comforting her so badly.
Two people were up for comforting today. What was with Olympus today?
I started to walk towards the dining room with Edward's hand in mine. He quietly followed me from behind.
The scene in front of me shocked me.
I thought it was only going to be me, Edward & my father having dinner. I must've been wrong.
Aphrodite sat beside Hades around the large long black rectangle dining table. Persephone walked pass us and sat down at the other end of the table, opposite Hades.
This situation looked all wrong and awkward.
