Hey!

I'm still alive. It's been a while huh?

Well, my exams are over, so I can finally start doing fun stuff again!

Shoutouts!

Jun Xavior: Thanks for the follow! (::)

yveltal1993: Thanks for the support! (::)

bajy: I'll be honest, I'm shocked that you read this that long ago and are now back. I barely even realised that it'd been that long since I started this. (::)

B.J. CubeBot (Guest): Sorry, you'll be disappointed! But you are getting a chapter!

Guest: Yeah, I feel like Shadow and Silver never get enough friendship moments.

Ally: I have not tried Pringles and Nutella, but I will as soon as I get Pringles. Thanks for the support!

Darkest Angelic Rose: Thanks! (::)

.22: Thank you! (::)

digimonhero: Thank you :D (::)

animeover90000: Thanks! (::)

Bonnie the Bunny111: Thank you! (::)

riverajocabed1: Woah hey dude! (::) I doubt that this is the place, but hey I'm gonna monologue anyway! One of the things I do when I'm uploading a new chapter is that I go through my emails and list everything that's happened since the last chapter. As I was doing it this time I started to wonder about you, cause it had been a while. I'm really glad that even after all this time people still come back to this.

On to the story!

AN UPDATE?!

"What do you mean stronger?" Silver frowned. Sonic and Tails exchanged a look.

"Well… you have extreme mental abilities. You pick up robots with your mind on a daily basis, so… maybe you're branching out?"

Silver frowned not really following.

"Well," Tails began, sounding like a teacher trying to be patient with 5-year-olds that were fighting over which Ninja Turtle was the best. "You currently have telekinesis: the ability to move things with your mind. Sonic is suggesting that you may be developing telepathy: the ability to read minds. That might explain the scuffling sound you heard since you're only just developing it."

"So, it's like tuning a radio?" Manic asked as he chewed the energy bar he'd been quietly opening during the conversation.

"Tuning a radio?" Silver muttered confused. Sonic's eyes widened as the realisation that Silver had never used a radio hit him.

"Think of it like training a muscle." Tails suggested. "You won't hear actual words until you practice it."

Silver bit his lip. Finally, he spoke: "So… if I practise with it I could potentially find out what Eggman's planning before he tells anyone?"

Manic ooohed like he was at a firework's show. "That would be so cool."

There was a long pause. Silver stood up. "Okay, that's enough for today. I'm going to bed."

The next day, Maria was tinkering at the workshop table, frowning slightly as her creation sparked. She rubbed her temples leaning back in her chair. Since she was going to learn how to fight, she'd need tools to use.

Unlike Sonic or Shadow, she had no "superpowers", so she'd been brainstorming some weapon ideas.

And coming up with nothing.

"Hey, kid." Maria looked up from the processors to see Shadow holding a mug. He set it down in front of her.

"What's this?" She asked peering in the mug. Shadow shrugged.

"Coffee."

"I don't drink coffee."

"You do now."

Maria smiled dejectedly and moved the mug to the side. Shadow sighed, leaning on the table to get a look at her project. "Still nothing good?"

"No! Nothing at all! Why's it so hard? I mean Amy's hammer is so cool and she's really good at using it and – argh!" Maria slumped onto the table.

Shadow just looked at her for a moment, before pulling a chair next to her. For about a minute the only sound was the humming of machinery and the yells of Cyrus organising a raid.

"Amy's hammer isn't something you should compare yourself to."

"Shadow-" Maria began, hoping to tell him that is encouragement wasn't helpful. But he raised his hand, stopping her.

"Just- hear me out." Maria looked back him in suspicion but nodded to let him continue. "Amy's hammer is a superpower. You've never seen it lying around here, right?"

Maria nodded slowly. "That's because Amy's like Thor. She summons that thing from nowhere. It just appears. Besides, it's indestructible."

"What are you saying to me Shadow?"

"I'm saying that you're not Amy. Her weapon is something that takes strength, brutality. She's good at wielding it because that's part of her. You're not like that. You have to pick something that's a part of you."

Maria mulled over Shadow's words. It was a good point. But it didn't give her any ideas.

Shadow gave a low chuckle. "You'll find something. Just think about it."

The sound of the chair screeching as Shadow pushed it back to where it was, barely registered with Maria.

"And drink that coffee! I had to bribe Manic to steal the grounds from Sonia's stash."

Maria smiled as Shadow left. She turned back to the pile of wires and motherboards that lay tangled in front of her. "A part of me?"

Sonic knocked on Amy's door, holding a thin parcel behind his back. He rocked back and forth, trying to fight his nerves. When the door opened, Sonic froze.

"Oh Sonic!" Amy grinned, grabbing his arm. "I was just about to go get you!"

"Oh yeah?" Sonic stuttered.

"Mmm hmm!" Amy pulled him to the couch and the pair sat. Sonic tapped his foot, fighting internally with himself. Amy fiddled with the hem of her skirt. It seemed like hours before the pair took a breath to speak.

"Oh- sorry,"

"No, no, please-"

"Ladies first." Sonic grinned.

Amy took a breath. "Well… our one-year anniversary is coming up, so I made you this!"

Amy held up a book. The cover had pictures stuck over it. Sonic took the book and opened it. On the first page was a picture from 4 years ago of Amy and Sonic at the beach.

"Woah," Sonic muttered as he flicked through the scrapbook. "Is this everything we've done?"

"Yeah… I figured it would be a good reflection on how we've grown together."

"Wow…" Sonic stared. He began to laugh hysterically. "Oh no, younger me. Ugh, kill it."

After the pair had calmed down, Sonic handed Amy the thin package.

"Sonic you didn't buy jewellery, did you?" Amy asked in horror, fearing that her gift would be outshined.

"Buy? No. Jewellery? …Maybe?"

Amy bit her lip. She took the wrapping paper off and took the lid off the box. Inside was a medallion like the triplets' medallions. It was a microphone with a rose engraved on the handle.

"It's not magic like ours is, but I think it's still pretty cool."

"Sonic… how?"

"I umm… made it. Tails helped me to figure out what tools to use. I've uh... been holding on to it for a while. Never managed to work up enough courage to give it to you."

Amy took the medallion out of the box and held it up. She undid the clasp and put it around her neck. "Sonic… thank you."

"Thanks for the scrapbook. I'd almost forgotten about some of this."

"Well, there's still space in there. Room for more memories." Amy smiled, her hand still on the medallion.

"Can't wait." Sonic grinned back.

Well, there we go!

Sorry about not working on this as regularly as I should be. I've been working on an original story for nearly 2 years now and it's been destroying me. But I promise that no matter how long it takes, I will finish this!

Cya next time!
