Life or Suicide? – Bruce Banner/The Hulk

I let the tears fall freely as I sat on the edge of the bathtub, watching the blood flow down my arms as my step-mother yelled at me through the locked bathroom door. This is what I hated the most, she would never leave me alone; no matter how much she screamed she hates me and wished I was dead I always found her coming back to me. It was bad enough that I was bullied at school for being overweight, I wasn't as slim as all the other girls in my classes and they decided it was be a great pastime to make fun of me for it.

"Brianna!" Her shrill voice made me wince and I heaved myself up off the bath, unlocking the door and pushing past her; making her voice follow me as I left the apartment without looking back. She continued shouting after me, but didn't bother to come after me which I was thankful for.

"Maybe, I can be rid of her forever." I murmured, finding myself at a different apartment block and walking up the fire escape stairs towards the roof. "Maybe the suffering and torture can stop…"

Bruce's POV

I glanced out my room window and had to do a double take as I saw a girl making her way up the rusting fire escape, feeling a slight frown crease my forehead. She kept going up, past my apartment and I had a hunch that she was heading to the roof as my block was nearer the top of the building. I looked closer at the smear on the window and my chest clenched as I realised the red liquid was blood, making me shoot up from the desk and hurry up the apartment complex stairs to catch up with the girl.

I arrived on the roof just in time to see her sit down on the edge of the building with her legs dangling over the edge. She looked too young to be doing this; she still had her whole life ahead of her. I slowly made my way forward and sat beside her in the same position she was in, making her look over at me; only to notice the tear streaks down her face and the blood still oozing from her wrists.

"Which is easier?" she asked, sniffing slightly. "Life or death?" She looked down at her hands which rested in her lap and I saw the deep lacerations running across her wrists.

"Death may be easier, but life is worth living if you find the right people to share it with." I replied, hoping she wouldn't make herself tip over the edge.

"I don't know who the right ones are. Everyone I come across seems to have fun in bullying me, no one understand what I have to go through."

"You're different, everyone is. No one is ever the same as another person, trust me; I should know." I said, shuffling closer so I could grab her if she decided to jump. "Life is definitely better than lying in the ground six feet under and not being able to do anything for the world."

"W-will you help me?" she asked, finally letting me get a good look at her as she turned slightly to face me. I hesitated for a minute, but then decided that the reason I kept myself going as because I wanted to make a difference; I wanted to change lives for the better. That's why I became a doctor, so why shouldn't I be like a father figure to this kid?

"Yeah, just please, move away from the edge now." She complied and shuffled backwards before standing up and trailing after me as I motioned for her to follow me back into the complex.

End Bruce's POV

"I guess life may be more difficult, but maybe it'll be worth it." I muttered, following the man into an apartment.

"I'm Bruce by the way, Bruce Banner." He gave me a small smile which I tried to return, but it felt more like a grimace as the throbbing in my wrists began to bother me.

"Brianna."

"Well Brianna, ready to make a difference?" Bruce smiled.
