Can't risk losing
Tues Nov 11
The blue haired nerd took her seat in the table in a rush more than usual. She took a large huff of frustration and looked out at Lisanna and Cana, the only other girls not busy at the moment. Cana had the same look of worry and didn't even play with her water bottle that she held so dearly. "Lucy wasn't in class?" she asked the small girl. Levy shook her head. The drunk lowered her head in disappointment, this morning she went to have breakfast in the diner with her father as usual, but the place was sucked out dry in the fun department. All of the employees had a look of anxiety, Libra was jumpy trying to get to school, Taurus looked torn apart, and Loki wasn't even trying to look up to see the pretty girls. The oddest thing of all, no Lucy with a nagging grandfather telling her to leave work and go to school. "Someone should try calling her."
"Why what's gong on?" Lisanna asked concerned.
"There's something wrong with blondie that's what." the brunette glanced over her shoulder, across the cafeteria, the boys where giving each other looks as well. Seemed like a pink haired idiot went missing too. "Lis, call Natsu. Something is up and we have a right to know."
"But what about Juvia and the others?" she asked. "Don't you think they should know too?"
"Oh! They'll know after we do! Call him!"
Lucy sat in the large dining room, the walls where a covered in a warm creamy color with marble table and late Venetian art and mirrors surrounding her in fall themed colors. She haven't been in a house like this in a long while, but still remembered how to behave as a lady. Sit up with a back well erect, chin up high, shoulders back to the back of the chair, elbows off the table, eating with the the eating utensils farthest from her plate ect ect. Across from her sat her best friend and cat in their assigned seats.
After she showed her scars to the Dragneel-Marvels, the families sat down to have come to an agreement. It wasn't a pleasurable conversation, tears and screaming happened, but Grandine assured Lucy security that she was going to stay with the King family, and even have her name legally changed. Until then, she needed to keep an extremely low profile in their manner, not in her home. If she where to be caught under the guardianship of the Zodiac, they could all go to jail under the charges of kidnapping a minor. Being a powerful and rich family, the Dragneel-Marvels would have just gotten a slap on the wrist. Lucy hated the thought of leaving her family, it was the one place she didn't want to run way from.
Taurus and Aquarius couldn't look her in the eye, Loki wouldn't let go of her when she said goodbye, and the rest wouldn't stop crying. Happy jumped on the smooth table and on to her lap. She smiled at him sweetly and gave him a quick pet on his head.
"He really likes ya Luce." Natsu spoke up as a servant set his plate in front of him. Another served her as well, both gave a quick 'thank you' before turning back to one another. "I-I really hope you slept well."
"I-I did. It's just that I haven't slept in a bed like that in a while."
"I'm really sorry about your old man-"
"He's Jude. Nothing more." she corrected a bit harshly.
"Right. Jude..." He scooted his seat a bit closer to the table and took a large bit of his meat. "So Luce what do you want to do today? You didn't come out of the guest room for breakfast this morning."
"I wasn't hungry..." she whispered submissively. Natsu narrowed his hazel orbs at her. This girl eats as much as him? Really? "Actually Natsu, I just want to go back to the guest room, I don't feel like eating."
"Luce ya gotta eat something."
"Meow~" Happy raped his paw on the girl's new blouse, this morning she found a box full of new cloths for her from Grandine, neither family knew how long she was going to be hiding. The young scientist smiled at the kitten, and continued to give him affection. "Awe Happy, you're so cute.~"
Natsu's pouted his lips and narrowed his eyes at the blonde as he childishly crossed his arms. First his mom, then Wendy, now her? Really? "Does everyone love Happy more than me?"
"Love more? No. Like better? Yes." she smart-mouthed back cracking a smile and peaking up through her lashes. He smirked back, at least she was still somewhat there.
Buzz Buzz
He blinked at his pocket.
Buzz Buzz
He checked the caller ID. Veggie Burger. "Why's Lisanna calling me?" Lucy's face shot up in brightness, she gasped with an ear to ear smile. She hasn't seen her friends in a day, but missed them terribly. They must have some information of what have been going on with her father, they could at least see her.
"Give me the phone!" She leaped over the table to the jock, Natsu just swung his am back and held her back with his left hand. "GIMMIE GIMMIE GIMMIE GIMMIE GIMMIE!"
"What the hell you weirdo!? Why are you attacking me!?"
"Give me the phone, I need to talk to her!"
"Now I don't want to give it to you!"
"GIMMIE THE PHONE YOU LANISTER!"
"NEVER!"
"NOW!"
"YOU CAN'T HANDEL THE DRAGON!"
"NATSU!"
The sophomore signed as she put her phone away. "He's not answering you guys."
"I hope everything's okay." Levy whispered softly before supping her warm tea.
"GIVE IT BACK!" he yelled as she sat on her back crushing her ribs, the girl just held the phone about of his reach and smashed for and in his face to keep him away.
"WHAT'S THE PASSWORD SO I CAN ALL BACK!?"
"GIVE IT YOU FREAK!"
"PASSWORD!"
"NEVER!"
"Me too." Juvia added setting down her tray on to the table. She's been gone at swim pre-season training lately, but Aquarius was extra moody, and emotional in the morning. "We saw the news last night and called up the diner, but Loki didn't answer."
"This morning everyone was acting weird there too." Canna admitted. "What if that idiot did something, like turn her in."
"Cana!" The youngest of the group spoke insulted. "Shame on you, Natsu is her friend, he wouldn't do that!"
"But Igneel is Natsu's father," Canna pointed out. "AND Jude's best friend. If I there is one thing about Natsu that I don't forget is his loyalty to his nakama."
The pinxie haired girl shut her lips tightly, she knew the drunk had a point in this. If that jock was anything it would be loyal, he's worse than a Labrador. His priorities would be his family, bros, girls, teammates, then everything else. If his father asked him to turn in any information and Lucy spilled her beans, Natsu would have run to his father in a heart beat. The brunette glanced a the boys' table and took a long chug of her 'water', she was in no mood for any bullshit. Secrecy was one thing she never tolerated, which is why she loved Lucy the day they met, and why her father tells her everything about everyone. It's dangerous to have her as an enemy in all honesty, one of the reasons why the girls connected to her. The business side at least, now they really do love her.
"I'm gonna call pops." she announced slipping out her touchscreen. "Something's up and I need to know now."
"You think that Gildarts spoke to Mr Dragneel?" Levy asked from behind her book.
"Maybe..." the curly haired girl tapped the cloth covered table impatiently as the phone rang in her ear. "Come on pops pick up..."
Natsu and Lucy sat side my side on the sofa in the enormous living room. Both covered in bruises and cuts, staring down at the ground with a cracked smart phone on the coffee table in front of them. Lucy leaned back in her seat with her arms crossed over her chest and pointing her nose away from the pinkette, Natsu did something similar but with a pout and slouched down. The two sat in an angry silence, begging for the other to break the ice. Her brown eyes glanced around the room observing what she couldn't last night when she arrived. Everything was white, the walls, furniture, and even the family pictures where in a light grayscale, the only thing that wasn't was the large black flat screen in front of them. A very modern chic vibe, but not a complete home. This must be the room that 'important' guest use to have meetings and political discussions. Not much of a family room...
She had forgotten what it was like, sitting in one of these rooms that is. She didn't like the lack of color or the style that she saw around, or in the magazines. She liked the mix matching sofas with stains and the random frames on the walls and shelves. She loved how in hr house the walls were a faded paint color and how nothing had a theme like in this manner, sure it looked nice but it showed nothing about the family. No history, no memorable moment or even portraits. How is it that a family like the Dragneel-Mavels who are as close as her own family, have such a lifeless-styleish house?
"I'm sorry..." he muttered ripping her from her thoughts. The girl turned away from the room to look at him. "You miss you're friends...I get it...I miss mine too..."
"Sorry I exaggerated over not seeing them in over a day..." she muttered back. He cracked a shadow of a smile in the corner of his lips, she mirrored him.
"If I ask you something completely random, would you answer it?"
"Yeah...?" she asked raising a brow.
"Why did you choose that side of Magnolia?" she blinked at him in confusion as he spoke. "Why not with your mother's side of the family?"
"Well," she took a deep sigh. "I wanted to be safe from him, who's going to look for a high class Lady in the, and I quote the girls, 'ghetto'?"
"Mh...true." he shrugged.
"Anything else?"
"Wanna go-"
"-see the next episode off GoT?" she finished for him. Natsu grew a large stupid grin on his face, this girl truely was something else.
March 1st Friday
Her painted nails picked at the skin on her knees, the wood under her felt cold and hard. The air around her has never been so still and quiet. Her brown eyes gazed around at the strangers in suits in front of her, twelve of them on the side in some wooden bleachers as a jury, two tables: one the monster and his pack of wolves, and the second one with her defenders. Finally, a pack of strangers behind them watching her for her entertainment. That's all this messed up story was to those bastards. She felt the force behind her eyes build up to push the wet hot tears out, the more she pushed the force back, the harder it was to maintain her equilibrium. Her eyes focused hard on the hash-brown haired man with gray hairs. Al he would do was stare back with an equivalent uneasiness. His eyes reflected who we became, broken, lost and longing for forgiveness. His daughter on the other hand, could only look at him trembling in anger. Her muscles twitched n earning for physical force upon the man she once called father. She wanted to pick at his will power and self esteem bit by bit util the she had reached the marrow of his bones. Then pick at it some more, breaking him down to nothing but a pile of worthless shit. "Lady Lucia?" she snapped out of her murderous thoughts and turned to the woman in front of her.
"I'm sorry Libra," she said blinking fast. "I didn't understand your question."
"It's quite alright." she said genitally with a smile. "I'll ask again, is it true that Mr. Heartfilia has given you both physical and mental abuse for the minimum of 2 years?"
"No.." she whispered quietly. The audience and jury gave one another confused expressions, the rumors must have not been true, so why all of this commotion over a girl who ran away? "It was 4. Going on 5." she corrected.
