Hello my faithful fan fiction readers. Here I am with another update! I am on fire! Oh yeah! So I just finished this and I am super excited about it, yet in this chapter you might not like me, but oh well. Blaine is having a bad day. That's all I will say. But since he is a doctor, I am going to have a warning here because there is patient he is dealing with that is dealing with personal issues, but I don't get much into it. But as you read it, if it triggers something, then I am sorry in advance. I just thought I should warn you in advance.
Ok, with everything said, I also don't own Glee and I hope you enjoy this chapter and please show me how much you do with all of those lovely reviews, follows, and favorites that you continue to flood my inbox with. Thanks so much and I will see you in the next chapter.
The first few days without Kurt were rough for Lila and Cory. Even though Blaine was taking good care of them, it was still hard for them. Luckily they had the weekend to adjust to a different routine with Blaine.
Once Monday arrived, all hell broke loose. First, Blaine had trouble getting Lila and Cory up and ready for school. Then for breakfast he decided to make french toast except he forgot that Cory had some sensory issues with certain foods.
"Yucky." said Cory, spitting out his food onto the plate.
"You don't like it?" asked Blaine.
Cory shook his head.
"What's wrong with it?" asked Blaine, as he examined the food with a fork. He couldn't find anything visibly wrong with the little boy's breakfast.
"Yucky milk." squealed Cory as he dropped his cup on the floor, making a mess.
Blaine sighed. "What was wrong with the milk?"
"Yucky milk." Cory repeated, shaking his head.
Blaine got up from his seat and grabbed a wash cloth to clean the mess.
"Blaine!" Lila called. "Can you please do my hair?"
Blaine looked up from the mess. "Yeah, just a minute. Come sit down and eat breakfast first." he ordered.
Lila sat down at the table and looked at the food on her plate.
"Daddy doesn't make this for us when we have to go to school." she admitted.
"Well, I thought I would do something special today." Blaine replied, standing back up.
"I hungry." said Cory.
Blaine looked at the little boy. "I know you are. What do you want?"
"Cookie!" Cory squealed.
Blaine shook his head. "No Cory. You can't have cookies for breakfast."
"Ice cream?" Cory asked.
Blaine laughed. "No. No ice cream. You can have cereal with a banana. How about that?" he offered.
Cory shook his head. "Cookies."
"You can have cookies when you get home from school." said Blaine as he started to pour cereal into a bowl. "What do you think of your french toast, Lila?" he asked the little girl.
Lila smiled. "Yummy." she said with a mouth full of food.
Blaine smiled. "Don't talk with your mouth full honey."
Lila nodded and took her cup of milk. "What kind of milk is this?" she asked distastefully, once she swallowed what was in her mouth.
"It's the milk we got the other day." Blaine replied.
Lila shook her head. "This doesn't taste like the milk daddy gets."
Blaine sighed. He went to the fridge and looked at the milk carton. He then realized when they went to the store he bought the wrong milk. "Cory, I think I know why didn't like the milk." Blaine admitted.
After finishing breakfast, Blaine quickly brushed Lila and Cory's hair.
"Ow." said Lila, as Blaine brushed the knots out of her hair.
"OW!" she screamed again.
"I'm sorry honey, but you have a lot of tangles in your hair." Blaine said.
"Can you put my hair in braids like daddy?" Lila asked.
Blaine shook his head. "I don't know if I can. I'm not the best hair dresser like your dad."
"Please Blaine?" Lila insisted.
Blaine looked at his watch. "Honey, we don't have time right now. I'm going to finish brushing your hair and then we need to go."
Lila sighed. "I miss daddy."
"I know." Blaine replied.
As Blaine and the kids were ready to leave the house, the phone started to ring.
"Daddy!" Lila and Cory squealed.
"I'm sure it's not him. It's probably Rachel or Mercedes." Blaine insisted.
"NO!" Cory cried.
Blaine pushed the kids out of the door. "Come on. We need to go now. We're already late." he ordered as they made their way to the car.
"Daddy!" Cory cried.
While Blaine loaded the kids in the car, the phone continued to ring until the voicemail finally picked up and Kurt and the kids voices could be heard through the house.
Hi you've reached Kurt and Lila and Cory Hummel.
We can't come to phone right now, so please leave a message and we'll get back to soon thanks!
Then the person calling left a message.
Hi Blaine, it's Rachel.
Look I know I am supposed to pick up the kids at school today, but I just found out I have a late rehearsal and I won't be able to get them. Also, Mercedes is out of town for the day, so you're on your own today. Sorry. I'll talk to you later.
Ok bye.
Blaine was late dropping the kids off at school, which made him late getting to work.
"Ah, finally decided to show up Dr. Anderson." Dr. Romano scoffed as Blaine entered the hospital.
Blaine sighed. "I'm sorry, I had trouble getting..." he started but Dr. Romano cut him off.
"I don't want to hear excuses." Dr. Romano barked, as he handed Blaine several clipboards and walked away.
Blaine let out a deep sigh as he dropped the clipboards on the desk and sat down on a stool and rubbed his face with his hands.
"Hey, is everything ok?" asked Quinn.
Blaine looked up at his friend and shook his head.
Quinn smiled at him. "Are the kids giving you trouble already?"
Blaine scoffed. "Yeah. I mean the weekend went great, but today all hell broke loose."
"Oh no. What happened?" Quinn asked, sympathetically.
"What didn't happen?" Blaine asked back. "First they didn't want to wake up, then it was a struggle to get them dressed. Then when I made breakfast I completely forgot that Cory has mild sensory issues which is why he didn't eat his french toast and he didn't like the milk because it's not the kind of milk that Kurt usually buys." he explained. "And then Lila asked me to brush her hair, which took forever because she had so many knots in it."
"I'm sorry to hear that." Quinn said as she placed a hand on his shoulder.
"And while we were on our way out the phone was ringing and they thought it was Kurt." Blaine added.
"Was it?" asked Quinn.
Blaine shook his head. "I don't know. I don't think so. We were running late as it was so we couldn't stop and answer it. I had to let the machine get it."
Quinn rubbed his shoulder comfortingly. "You want to grab some lunch later?"
Blaine nodded. "Sure." he smiled.
Quinn smiled and walked away.
Blaine's day went on as normal. He had some interesting cases. All of a sudden a trauma came in.
"What do we got?" Blaine yelled, as he ran up to the paramedics bringing in a stretcher.
"19 year old female found unconscience in her dorm room." the paramedic barked.
"Did she take anything?" Blaine asked.
"Her roommates wouldn't say anything." the other paramedic said.
Blaine nodded as they wheeled the stretcher into a trauma room.
"Ok let's move her on three." he ordered. "One...two...three." he shouted as they lifted the patient from the stretcher onto a gurney.
While Blaine was busy taking care of his patient, Santana came into the trauma room.
"Blaine, there's a lady on the phone for you from a preschool." Santana said quickly.
"What?" Blaine asked, as he was busy giving trying to stabilize his patient.
"She says you're late picking up Cory Hummel?" Santana continued.
Blaine looked at the clock and then looked at Santana. "Damn it" he whispered.
"Did you forget something?" Quinn asked.
Blaine shook his head. "No, no Rachel was supposed to pick him and Lila up." he insisted.
"She's seizing" Quinn shouted, noting the patient shaking violently.
"Push the adavan." Blaine ordered. "Santana, can you have the daycare call Rachel or Mercedes?" he shouted.
"I'm a nurse not a personal secretary." Santana snarked.
"Seizure's stopping." Quinn yelled.
Blaine sighed and looked back at Quinn. "Look we need to find out what she took."
"What do you want me to do about the lady on the phone?" interrupted Santana.
Blaine looked at Santana. "What line is she on?"
"Line two." she replied.
Blaine grabbed the phone and pressed a button. "Hello, this is Dr. Anderson."
"Hello Dr. Anderson, this is Amy at Cory's preschool." Amy began.
"Yeah hi. I'm sorry about this, but Rachel Berry was supposed to be picking Cory up today." Blaine explained.
"We tried calling her, but she's not answering." Amy replied.
Blaine sighed. "Ok, then can you try calling Mercedes Jones?"
"I'm sorry Dr. Anderson, we've tried everyone on the contact sheet and no else is available."
Blaine hung his head. "All right, I'm on my way."
Amy smiled. "Ok, but we do charge for being late."
Blaine nodded. "Yes, of course. I understand. I'll be there as soon as I can."
"We'll see you soon Dr. Anderson." said Amy.
"Thank you." replied Blaine and hung up the phone.
Once Blaine had finished his phone call and noticed that his patient was taken out of the trauma room by another doctor, he walked over to the nurse's station.
Quinn saw Blaine sitting down and went over to him. She handed him a sheet of paper.
"What's this?" Blaine asked.
"Your patient's lab results." she replied. "And by the way her name is Heather Ross."
Blaine nodded as he looked at the piece of paper. "Oh god."
"Yeah I know." Quinn replied.
"Was she trying to kill herself?" Blaine asked.
Quinn shook her head. "I don't know. We already got the charcoal going, so we'll be able to talk to her soon."
Blaine nodded. "Actually I have to leave for a little while. I have to pick up Cory and Lila."
"Oh no, you have patients to take care of." Dr. Romano interrupted.
Blaine sighed. "Look, this an emergency. I wouldn't leave otherwise." he begged.
"Dr. Anderson this is a hospital. You can't just come and go when you feel like it." Dr. Romano barked.
Blaine took in a deep breath as he bit his tongue. He really wanted to tell Dr. Romano off. But if he did, he would probably get fired.
"I'll be back in hour." Blaine said as calm as he could. "It will be my lunch break."
Dr. Romano glared at Blaine. "Fine. One hour."
"Thank you." said Blaine as he made his way towards the door.
"Oh and Dr. Anderson." Dr. Romano said stopping Blaine in his tracks.
Blaine turned around quickly. "Yes?"
"Don't bring those kids into my hospital. Or I will fire you." Dr. Romano stated and then walked away.
Before Blaine left, he had to figure out what he was going to do with Lila and Cory when he came back. Quinn walked up to him with a smile on her face.
"Go get the kids. I have an idea." she admitted.
Blaine raised his eyebrow. "What?"
"Just go get them. Don't worry about Dr. Romano." she said.
"You heard him. If I bring them back he'll fire me. And I'm pretty sure he meant it." Blaine insisted.
Quinn shook her head. "Just don't come inside. Meet me outside. Now go before the school calls again."
Blaine nodded and then ran out the door.
After Blaine left, Quinn went to make a phone call.
"Hey babe, it's me." she said. "I need you to do me a favor."
"Sure, what is it?" came the reply.
When Blaine finally made it to the preschool, he saw that Cory was in tears.
"Hey, sorry I'm late." Blaine said apologetically to the staff and then noticed Cory. "Hey, what's wrong?"
"He's had a rough day." Amy said softly.
"That's probably because I'm late and I didn't start the day off the way he's used to." he explained. "Come here buddy." said Blaine, opening his arms and picking Cory up.
"I want daddy!" Cory cried.
Blaine sighed. "I know you do. But we have to go get Lila now."
Cory shook his head into Blaine's shoulder. "Daddy!"
Blaine looked over at Amy. "Thank you." he said. "And I'm sorry about this."
Amy smiled. "It's ok. It happens sometimes."
Blaine nodded and walked out of the building. He then went to Lila's school where he found the little girl sitting in the front office reading a book.
"Blaine!" she squealed.
"Hi honey. Sorry I'm so late." he apologized.
"Where were you?" she asked.
Blaine shook his head. "It's a long story." he said as he signed her out.
"Come on. We have to go back to the hospital. I have to get back to work." Blaine stated.
"But I have homework." Lila whined as they walked outside.
"I know, but I have to go back to work." Blaine repeated. "I have to find someone to watch you two until I get off."
"Auntie Rachel?" Cory piped up.
Blaine shook his head. "No she can't and neither can Mercedes." he replied.
When Blaine and the kids returned to the hospital, Quinn was standing outside with a man sporting a mow-hawk.
"Blaine, you remember Puck?" Quinn asked, introducing the man next to her.
Blaine nodded. "Yeah, from the 4th of July picnic?" he asked, as he shook the man's hand.
Puck nodded and smiled. "Good to see you again doc."
Blaine smiled back. "You too."
"I called Puck and asked him if he would take the kids home for you." Quinn began.
Blaine shook his head. "No, no. I'm sorry, but I can't have you do that."
Both of them looked at the young doctor confused.
"I'm sorry, but I thought you needed someone to watch them while you went back to work?" Quinn quipped.
"Yes, but I can't leave them with someone I barely know." Blaine added.
"Hey, I understand." Puck chimed in.
Quinn and Blaine looked over at Puck.
"But I don't really think you have a choice now do you?" he added.
Blaine sighed and shook his head. "I don't know."
"Look, you can either send the kids home with Puck and pick them up when you're shift is over or you can go back in there and risk a tongue slashing from Dr. Romano." Quinn said giving Blaine an ultimatum.
Blaine looked at down at Lila and Cory. He then thought about what was really important and what Kurt would say if he was here. "Ok." he finally answered. "You can take them back to my place." Blaine said handing Puck the key to his apartment. "Just don't make a mess. Please?"
Puck laughed. "We'll try not to."
Blaine bent down to Lila and Cory's eye level. "You guys are going with my friend Puck back to my apartment while I finish working."
"When are we going back to our house?" Lila asked.
"As soon as I get off work." Blaine replied.
"Blaine!" Santana yelled as she came running outside. "You need to get back in here. We're really backed up and Dr. Romano is threatening to fire anyone who's not working. That goes for you too Quinn. Sorry." she insisted, then ran back inside.
"I'll be home as soon as I can." Blaine admitted, seeing how sad Lila and Cory were.
"Come on munchkins." said Puck as he grabbed Lila and Cory's hands and led them away from the hospital.
As the three of them started to walk away, Cory kept looking back at Blaine, which was tearing at the young doctor's heart. Soon Blaine and Quinn went back into the hospital and continued working.
There you go. I hope you liked it.
