Chapter Twenty Eight

Four Months Later…

"Spencer, please," I sighed as he moved around in our bed "You're making the room spin even more,"

"Sorry,"

Spencer stood up from the bed and walked over to take a seat in the large chair that was resting in the corner of our bedroom. I laid across our bed, my hand slowly caressing my stomach, feeling the small movement of our Bean. It was crazy how fast these 12 weeks went by fast, and it was now more than evident that Spencer and I were soon going to have a little child.

"They won't stop moving," I moaned softly as Bean seemed to do another flip inside me

"At this stage the legs and arms are fully developed, so it's most likely Bean is trying to find a position to rest that is comfortable" Spencer spoke, not even looking up from his book in his lap "And they weight a little less than an ounce,"

"I'm debating on that weight. Because right now, I feel like a football is rolling around in my body," I giggled, looking towards him

Spencer set down his book and moved towards me, gently lying down beside me, before he placed his hand down gently across my stomach. He rubbed it slowly, before pressing his ear against the side. I looked down towards him and smiled as he began to softly speak to the baby.

"You gotta settle down there, Bean." Spencer whispered "Mommy gets cranky when she can't sleep, and Daddy usually pays the price,"

"Hey," I spoke in protest, playfully slapping his back, causing him to chuckle softly.

"You see, she's the cranky one," Spencer chuckled

"You're going to make our child believe I'm a horrible person, Spencer" I moved my hand up and began to run it slowly though Spencers hair.

"They could never hate you," Spencer shifted and moved to lay beside me "You're too sweet, and beautiful, and caring for our child to hate you"

"Talk to them like that, and they will be thinking the exact opposite,"

Spencer smiled down towards me, his hand still caressing the bottom of my stomach, feeling Bean flip around inside me again. I shifted slightly as I felt the kick against my bladder. A smile spread across Spencer's face as he felt the movement beneath his hand.I watched down in amazement as he once again began to speak to my stomach, mostly reciting off stories, such as Sleeping Beauty and The Secret Garden.

"They like the sound of your voice, love" I whispered as he finished off another story "I can tell, move around more when you're around,"

Spencer moved to look down towards me, brushing hair from my face, before kissing me lightly on the lips. I moaned softly against his lips as the kiss deepened. He pulled back away from me and kissed the base of my neck, before slowly moving up from the bed. I watched as he moved around the room, and I shifted to rest against the headboard of the bed, looking up to see the Doctor Who episode I was watching was over. Reaching over to grab the remote, I clicked onto another one.

"Penelope asked if you wanted to throw a baby shower?" Spencer aske, his back still to me as he rummaged through his dresser drawer "Something about having it at the Banquet down the street,"

"Baby showers are more of an American thing, my love. We didn't have baby showers in the UK. We did have Christenings, but now parties before the baby was born."

Spencer turned and looked towards me "What did you do?"

"Had parties for the families when the baby was finally home with the mum and father. Thou, my Aunt Gemma did have a small tea party when she was pregnant with my cousin Janessa, does that count?"

"I have no idea," Spencer chuckled, turning back towards me, a small bag in his hand "But that Penelope was wanting me to ask you,"

"We can think about it," I smiled towards him as he moved to take a seat beside me on the bed "But at the moment, I'm more worried about if 11 and Rory will get Amelia back from the future,"

Spencer moved to sit on the edge of the bed beside me, before gently grabbing the remote from my hand and pausing the show. I sat up more against the headboard as he turned towards me, visibly nervous.

"Shai," He began to speak, his hand fidgeting in his lap, playing with the small bag in his hand "R-remember how you told me you wanted a family? A place bigger for us? And the baby?"

I nodded my head before he continued.

"I-I want to be able to give you that, be a-able to have that family that you want."

I moved forward and caressed his face to make him look to me "Spencer, you already give me that."

"But you deserve more, more than a man that disappears for days and comes home late at night," Spencer counter argued

"That is your job, my love, I understand more than you know and I could never hate you for that," I moved forward to kiss him lightly on the lips "I could never ever, hold that against you"

Spencer smiled "And this is why I love you,"

"I love you too,"

He pulled the small bag into my hands, before looking back towards me "I wanted to give this to you, but couldn't think of a more….special way to give it to you"

I looked down towards the bag confused, before grabbing the small strings and pulling it apart, before reaching inside. My fingers wrapped around a small object, before grabbing on it tightly, and pulling out into my palm. A small gasp left my lips as I looked down, the silver key shining against my palm

"What is this for?" I looked back up towards Spencer

"Morgan is into property, flipping and selling, and he was showing me one the homes he was considering to sell. I-I thought of what you told me, and as he was showing me the home…I-I thought of us living there," He moved towards me "And us growing our family there. You said so yourself, this apartment is too small for us to raise a baby in,"

My eyes looked towards him in shock "You go us a house? Spencer…"

"Morgan was going to put it up anyways, and I wanted to grab it before it was too late." Spencer chuckled "His properties go quickly,"

I rolled the key around in my hands, tears welling up in my eyes, before looking back to him. I nearly launching myself off the bed and into his arms, hugging him tightly as I cried out of happiness. It was a slightly awkward hug since my stomach was now getting in the way, but Spencer hugged me back just as tightly, before pulling back to caress my face lightly.

"Thank you, so much," I cried to him "I love you so much, my love."

I kissed him deeply, my hand running through his hair and fisting it tightly, and pulling him closer to me. His hands sprawled across my lower back, as our lips moved against each other, our lips becoming swollen and bruised. We pulled back from each other, from lack of breath, but didn't move away from each other.

"When can we go and see it?" I spoke excitedly

"Its ours, so whenever you want," He spoke softly, before kissing me lightly on the lips "Whatever you want, Shailene, I'm going to give you. I can promise you that,"

"You give me enough and more, my love." I whispered against his lips

"Just...you've been through a lot, and you've...fought through it beautifully, and I just wanna make sure it continues to go through that direction." He spoke sincerely

"Y-You're not still...blaming yourself for that, are you Spencer?"

His hands moved from my back, before going towards my stomach and caressing it softly, his eye cast down. My stomach dropped as I realized that after all this time, after the therapy and moving forward, he still blamed himself for what happened to me.

A few days later I found myself walking through the entrance of the BAU office floor, people running around me, rushing to get to their destinations. I clenched my bag tightly as I walked towards the double glass doors and out onto the floor. When I looked around, I couldn't see anyone that I recognized. Neither Spencer, Emily and Derek were at their desks. A heavy sigh left my lips as I slowly walked along the back wall and towards the ramp, hoping Penelope would be in her tech room. I knocked on the open door and peered my head inside to see her turn in her chair, and smile towards me.

"Oh, my gosh" She stood up and walked towards me with a smile on her face "Look at you, your little belly gets bigger each day is seems."

She placed a gentle hand on my stomach just as Bean decided to kick their foot across the front of my stomach. I winched slightly, but watched in amazement as Penelope's face broke into a wide smile.

"They move non-stop" I winced as Bean kicked at my bladder "Bean, please, my puppet."

I caressed my stomach lightly as Penelope moved to pull a chair out for me, and set my bag down to the ground, before turning towards her.

"You know where the team is? I brought Spencer some lunch since he left so quickly this morning,"

"Conference room going over possibly new cases. Should be done within the next hour or so," Penelope explained, before eyeing me slightly "Has um...Spencer talked to you about the possible baby shower?"

I nodded my head and smiled towards her "He did. And I've never been to a baby shower, they aren't as popular is England as they are here in the US. But if you, my lovely and colorful, Penelope Garcia, would like to throw a baby shower then you can,"

She smiled widely "Really?" I nodded my head "Oh, my god. JJ is going to be so excited. I-I will take of everything. You won't have to worry about anything, ok? Just show up with your glowing self and that will be all."

I giggled "If I knew this was all it took to make you happy, I wouldn't said yes the moment Spencer asked"

Penelope laughed before she spoke "Do we know what little one we're having?"

I shook my head "Spencer and I want to wait till they are born. We're calling them Bean for now since we don't know"

"Bean" Penelope spoke with adoration in her tone "That's so cute, so natural colours then? I can do that"

I wince once more as another kick sends a pain through my lower back, shifting slightly in my seat.

"Are you ok?" Penelope asked

I nodded my head, rubbing my stomach slowly "Bean is really, really active. If they aren't moving, they are kicking and stretching. I can already tell they are going to be tall like Spencer. I sometimes feel like I'm too small to be carrying his baby"

Penelope chuckled "Spencer is tall, so this little one being tall, wouldn't be a shock. But, to help with the pain, you should get messages and do prenatal yoga. I remember JJ doing it when she was pregnant, said it helped her muscles a lot, and worked as a pain reliever."

I say for a moment in thought before nodding my head "For sure going to think of taking that." Another wince shuttering through my frame as Bean stretched again.

My head turned towards the door as I heard a soft knock and saw Derek walk in, a smile on his face.

"Well, look at you, growing each and every day"

"Right?" Penelope smiled "How was the meeting? A new case?"

Derek sighed and nodded his head "We leave in a few hours,"

A frown downcast my face "How soon?"

Derek looked down towards his watch, "It's going on 1 o'clock now, so about 4? Maybe 5"

I sighed and stood up from the seat, before walking past Derek. With a small pat on his shoulder, my feet led me down the hallway and back out towards the bullpen. When looked over the railing, I saw Spencer sitting at his desk. Just was I came around from behind him, my phone rang, causing him to jump, dropping the phone that was at his ear.

"Jesus, you scared me," Spencer gasped, setting his phone down

"Sorry" I hold up the bag of the lunch I made for him "I made this for you baby, thought maybe you could use a lunch, specially now that you're leaving"

He stood up and took the bag from me, before bending down and kissing me "Thank you,"

"You're welcome," I smiled as Spencer caressed my stomach lightly "Don't get Bean too excited, I think they are finally asleep now,"

Spencer looked down towards me with worry "I'm sorry I've got to -"

I pressed my finger to his lips before he could even finish "Don't even go there Spencer Reid. Fight crimes, get the bad guy, and then come home to me safely"

He nodded his head "I will,"

Spencer bent forward to kiss me again, the kiss deep and meaningful, but pulled back from me when we heard a whistle from behind us. It didn't take me a long time to know that it was Derek. A dark blush covered both Spencer and myself's cheeks.

"Don't let us disturb you," Derek teased

"Don't be jealous, Morgan." Emily spoke, moving around to sit at her desk "How's everything?"

"Good," I rubbed my belly proudly "Growing faster than my body can keep up really."

Spencer pulled me to his chair, before grabbing a spare chair from himself, I shared the lunch with him, before seeing him off before his next case.

{READERS Q&A}

Sue1313: The possibility of her making up with her father will be coming up with the next part. He will be in the story more in the next part and will stir up a lot of drama and feelings Shai buried a long time ago.

Cupcake: Thank you so much for the names! I'm not even sure what they will be having, but you gave me enough ammo to have a name for them the moment I pick the gender, thank you.

Guest: Well, we got at the beginning why Spencer hates leaving her. He loves her, and is still blaming himself for what happened to Shailene. And on top of that, they are having a baby, so Spencer is still trying to piece the puzzle back together after Shailene was attacked, and we know she is too. So it's something that Spencer becomes anxious over, cause he still see's her as the "victim" and he can't help it -specially due to his job.

Crazy Hopeless Romantic: I love the name gave and the meaning, for sure made me want them to have a girl now too. But I can't help but think of a Mini Spencer Reid, and them having a little boy. I love suggestions from my readers, I consider them whenever I get one, and have used them a few times.
