Love is a many splendored thing.
But Rin saw it as sexual assault.
Haru could longer count the amount of times he had visited the Matsuoka household to find the boy just sitting there, casually polishing his gun.
Rin was currently wiping down the handle with the barrel pointed right at him, like an unconscious threat.
"So, what is it?" the redhead provoked. "I thought you guys said this was important?"
Haru swallowed; "oh it's nothing really, I was actually just leaving–"
Gou tugged at his arm and pulled him back down into his chair mid-flight.
"–Haru, you promised!"
Rin watched the couple bicker between themselves and rolled his eyes at the dramatics.
They were whispering to each other frantically – "do you want me to die, woman?!" "This was your fault, Haru, so you take responsibility!" – their blithering voices grating on his ears until he set his gun down on the coffee table with a clunk that called them both to his attention.
"Come on, just spit it out already! Do you need to borrow money or something?"
Gou shifted in her seat. "No, nothing like that, onii-chan…"
"Need to help hiding a dead body?"
Haru quirked his head to the side with suspicion.
"What…? No–"
"–Oh god," Rin's voice was wrecked with devastation. "You aren't getting married, are you…?"
The couple exchanged a cryptic glance.
After a brief, mental conversation, Gou shook her head; "n–no, onii-chan…"
Rin relaxed in his seat. "That's good, because you're still far too young, Gou."
He was addressing his sister but his narrowed eyes were fixated on the man sitting next to her.
Haru felt faint.
"Well then," Rin shrugged conclusively, "if it's none of those things and you've managed to keep it in your pants and not get my sister pregnant – we haven't got anything to worry about, right Haru…?"
Crickets chirped.
"…SON OF A–!"
"–Haru, run!"
