It only took a few moments for Reid to review the titles to every book Sloane had on his shelf. He then quickly turned around. "Duncan, what's so special about this room?" He asked looking over the large living area.
Duncan glanced around with a subtle shake of his head. "Nothing."
Reid went to the sliding glass door and cautiously pushed it opened and stepped out for a quick look. "There's something off."
"Like what?" Hotch asked as he cross his arms and tilted his head.
"This room is too small. The rest of the building extends about another twenty feet behind this wall," he pointed towards the hidden bunker.
"I'm sorry to say that I can't be of much help to you about this side of the estate. I stay on the household side. Karl assists Sloane when there aren't guests on the island. Hosting them is my job," Duncan explained.
The trio exchanged looks with each other trying to come up with the next step.
"Wait." Duncan rushed towards the sliding door. "There is a hidden dock on this side of the island, right off of the lagoon. I've seen Sloane use it a few times, however, he tries to keep the fact that he's there a secret."
"There has to be another room here somewhere… that's the real bunker. Now we just need to locate it," Reid announced.
"That bookshelf seems to be the most logical place to hide a door," Duncan announced.
"Reid, is there a book on that shelf that doesn't fit?" Hotch asked.
Reid glanced over the titles again then lightly chuckled.
"What?" Hotch asked.
"It can't be this obvious."
"What are you thinking?" Duncan asked.
Reid moved his hand over a novel by Nathaniel Philbrick. "Bunker Hill." Reid pulled the book from the shelf then the massive oak frame pushed inward exposing a long hallway.
They rushed down the corridor then noticed the keypad. "Now, we have a problem," Reid announced.
Alex positioned herself between Sloane and the petrified girls. "I don't care what scheme you are up to this time; I will not be a part of it… and neither with these girls."
"You are so feisty and sure of yourself. I always loved that about you. But don't worry, I won't harm a hair on their pretty little heads if it bothers you that much," Sloane smirked.
Alex's eyes sharpened and knew he was up to something. "The only way I am going to be involved in the fate of these two is that they are leaving with me right now."
"So, you're telling me that you don't want to hear what I have to offer?" Sloane asked.
"No, I don't," Alex snapped back. "They are coming with me right now and you aren't going to interfere."
"Or what?"
Alex stood directly in front of him. "Or I'm going to kill you."
Sloane chuckled as he stepped back to pour himself a drink. "Even if you were to manage to hurt me, there is no way you could get out of this room without the code. Should you be able to accomplish that, because I know how resourceful you are, you wouldn't make it off this island without my guards killing you and my two lovely guests over there."
"My life would be a small price to pay," Alex crossed her arms.
"I don't want to die," one of the girls let out a terrified plea.
"And neither does your captor," Alex sneered at Sloane.
"What exactly do you think you are going to accomplish by threatening me?"
"That eliminating you from my life is going to make me a lot happier."
Sloane noticed a drastic change in her demeanor then downed the tumbler of scotch in his hand. "I must warn you, Alex, that I have men throughout this mansion, let alone the island, you won't get away with whatever you are thinking about doing."
"I don't intend to get away with it," she smirked as she stepped closer towards him as Sloane became nervous.
The two girls backed away from them then rushed towards the door, but still were unable to open it after several attempts; they didn't have the code.
Alex was smug as she moved closer towards Sloane as he steadily moved backwards. "You come to a certain point in your life when you just don't care about consequences. Like now, I could bash your head in with this bottle and not shed a single tear." She continued toward him and picked up the scotch bottle by the neck.
Sloane raised his hands out in front of him. "Alex, please think about what you're doing. If you injure me, you will not get off this island alive."
"Like I said… I don't care," Alex grinned and swung the bottle across his head. Surprisingly, he was stunned but still conscious.
Sloane wiped the alcohol from his face and shook his head. "I'm warning you."
Alex held onto the broken bottle and rushed towards him ready to cut him with the shards. Sloane ducked and moved as Alex thrusted forward. She then slashed him across the chest and his shirt ripped open. He fell back against the wall then kicked her back onto the floor.
Alex picked herself up then watched as Sloane triggered a hidden door to open and rushed out. She wanted to chase after him as he rushed out and headed towards a rickety dock but knew she needed to get the girls to safety.
She rushed to the door and tried the 16-digit coded she watched Sloane use to get into the room and it worked. Alex turned to the scared girls. "Stay here," she urged as she quietly pulled open the door. She then peeked her head out then saw a familiar face. "Thank god!"
"Alex, are you okay?" Reid asked.
"I'm fine. Take care of them," she announced then dashed back into the bunker.
The guys were a bit confused why Alex would rush off and leave the young women in their underwear to weep with them. Reid pushed past them and ran to catch up with her.
"Alex!" Reid called out as she went out onto the old dock and saw that Sloane's boat was just pulling out of the slip.
Reid ran out of the bunker just ask Alex jumped off the edge of the dock and landed safely on Sloane's speedboat. He continued running towards the dock and knew that he would have to swim to reach them but was worth the risk.
Before he made it to the dock, Karl stepped out in front of him. Reid stopped abruptly and noticed the iron bar he held in his hands. "Shit."
