With Tollak complete immobile now, he uses his magic in the only ways that are open to him. By doing this, he is causing the whole mountain to shake. Suddenly cracks develop in the floor, and large plums of lava begin to shoot out of some of the cracks.

"We have to get out of here!" exclaims Elsa as she projects snow against the wall around the tunnel that leads out. This snow extinguishes some of the fire that Tollak had started earlier. Then Elsa focuses a strong cold energy burst at the tunnel to completely clear the seal out of the tunnel. "Let's go!" then exclaims Elsa to the others.

"Wait! What about Mattias?" asks a concerned Anna.

Everyone begins to look around for the firebird, but they don't have to look long. Mattias lets out a screech which draws everyone's attention to the firebird. Mattias had walked closer to Elsa and the others, and now he was only ten or twenty feet away from Elsa.

So Elsa quickly runs over to the firebird and bends down to let Mattias jump onto her arm. Mattias's form was not stable, and he was flaring. So when Mattias jumps onto Elsa's arm, small blue flames begin to flare from Elsa's arm. These blue flames are being created by Elsa. These flames allow Elsa to protect herself from Mattias's fire. They also are able to provide some magical energy to the firebird. Energy that Mattias is able to use to repair his damaged wing.

Once Mattias was perched on Elsa's arm, she quickly follows Anna and Kristoff into the tunnel that leads outside. However, about half way through the tunnel, Kristoff and Anna have to stop because of a fire that blocks the tunnel.

"Tollak is not going to let us go easily," says a concerned Kristoff as he looks at the fire.

"I'll take care of it," says Elsa as she steps forward. Elsa stops for a moment and hands off Mattias to Kristoff. Mattias had absorbed enough energy by now to stabilize his form. The blue flames on Elsa's arm have also disappeared.

With her arms free, Elsa lays down a burst of energy that covers the flaming section of tunnel in snow and ice. So Tollak's blocking fire is extinguished. However, behind this fire is a flaming humanoid figure. This figure has managed to prevent Elsa from forming any snow or ice around him.

"Who is that?" asks Anna as she has some trepidation about this figure.

"You should know very well who I am, Anna," replies the figure angrily. "All of you have ruined centuries of my efforts!"

As the figure speaks Elsa braces herself for the coming combat. "Tollak, I presume," says Elsa sternly.

"Tollak, but how can it be Tollak?!" exclaims a surprised Anna. "I thought that he had turned into a stone statue back there."

"He is, but this is a projection of his magic," replies Elsa over her shoulder to Anna.

"You are correct, witch. I am a projection of myself. A projection that is as powerful as the original, without the physical restrains of a living body," exclaims Tollak.

"It would take a good deal of mental focus to control your powers in such a fashion," replies Elsa. "Surely such focus would be tiring. I wonder how long you will be able to maintain this projection."

"I can hold this form long enough to deal with you," exclaims Tollak. "Did you think that I would simply let you leave, after you destroyed the very thing that was allowing me to walk around?"

"The magic energy wasn't destroyed. I simply released that cold magic into nature," replies Elsa. "That is where it should have always been. Not trapped like fireflies in a glass jar."

"You talk as if that stuff was alive!" exclaims Tollak. "It is just energy that belonged to those that didn't deserve them! Who cares if I simply bring them here to serve my own purpose?"

"Using those energies is one thing, but the way you went about to obtain them is monstrous!" exclaims Elsa.

"You have done the same!" exclaims Tollak. "Just look at you now! You used the magical energy of Kristian to do your bidding! You used it to free yourself, and I was doing the same with all that cold energy!"

"There is a difference, Tollak," replies Elsa sternly. "I did not take Kristian's magic. He sent it to me on his own. Plus, I don't intend on keeping Kristian's magic. I like him the way that he was."

"You have managed to manipulate the fool for your own purpose!" exclaims Tollak. "I envy your cunning, and I wish that I had come up with the idea early in my life. Now, I don't have that luxury! So I have to resort to my old ways of obtain the powers that I need, and I will start by collecting yours!"

With this, the flaming image of Tollak unleashes several fireballs straight at Elsa. Elsa quickly generates an ice wall that takes the full force of the attack. Meanwhile, Kristoff and Anna quickly move behind Elsa to use her as a possible shield against Tollak's fire. All that Tollak's attack did was to destroy Elsa's ice wall.

After Tollak's attack was stopped, Elsa unleashes her own attack of rapid cold air and snow. The fiery image of Tollak merely raises a hand and vaporizes the oncoming attack with ease. "You don't have enough cold magic to fight me with, witch!" exclaims Tollak. "You removed all the cold energy that was here! Now all you have left is your own magic!"

"I don't just have my magic, Tollak," replies Elsa. "I also have Kristian's magic with me."

Tollak begins to laugh. Then he says, "What you see before you is a living fire. So how do you think a fire is going to hurt this form? Perhaps you could knock me off balance with a fire strike, but you will never be able to extinguish this body! As for your own powers, they are insignificant compared to what I yield!"

After this statement, Elsa allows a sphere of blue energy to form over her upright palm. Once the sphere forms, a small blue flame develops in the center of the sphere. This flame continues to grow until the fire emerges from the sphere and covers its entire surface.

Now that Elsa is holding a flaming ball, she says, "Let's see if you are correct about that last statement."

With this, Elsa releases the blue fireball at Tollak's image. In response, Tollak laughs and raises a hand up to catch the blue fireball. As Tollak's hand wraps around the blue fireball, it is easily extinguished. However, as the blue fireball goes out, Tollak screams out in pain. "Arrgh! It burns!" cries out Tollak. "It can't burn me! I am a living fire! No fire should be able to hurt me!"

"Perhaps no ordinary fire can harm you, but then I can't handle Kristian's magic like he can," replies Elsa. "You are right about one thing, Tollak. I can't control fire magic. However with Kristian's permission, I am able to. I do this by using my own magic in combination with Kristian's."

"You've turned it into an ice fire, a fire without heat!" exclaims Kristoff.

"That can't be!" exclaims Tollak. "A fire can only burn with heat!"

"My specialty is the cold," replies Elsa. "And it looks like you can't handle a fire that burns cold."

Now Tollak roars as his fire flares greatly. "My fire can repel any kind of cold magic!" exclaims Tollak. "I will not be undone by your magical mutations!"

With this, Tollak unleashes a stream of fire at Elsa. Elsa responds by producing her own stream of blue fire. When the two fires meet, Elsa's smaller stream easily passes through the center of Tollak's larger stream. These two fires do not impede the others progress.

So to counter Tollak's fire stream, Elsa generates a snow blast with one hand. Meanwhile, with the other hand, Elsa maintains the blue fire stream. However, Elsa's snow blast is not able to stop Tollak's fire. It diminishes its strength, but Elsa still gets hit hard by the fire stream. From the hit, Elsa gets knock backwards. She ends up falling into Kristoff and Anna.

All three of them end up going to the floor, but Anna and Kristoff manage to control the fall. As they fall Kristoff is able to move his ice axe into a position where the head of the axe blocks the oncoming fire. Since the axe was still enchanted, it was able to withstand the fire and divert the flames.

As for Elsa's blue fire stream, it soon reaches Tollak's image. "No!" exclaims Tollak as he sees the fire emerge from his fire stream. Tollak diverts all of his attention to try and stop the oncoming fire, but he has no success. The blue fire hits him and Tollak cries out in pain. As the blue fire hits, it begins to incorporate its energy into the flaming image of Tollak. Slowly the red fire of Tollak's image begins to be replaced by blue fire.

"This can't happen!" exclaims Tollak as the flames begin to change their color. "I've controlled fires my entire life! I will not be undone by this bastardization of nature!"

As Tollak tries to battle against the change that is occurring in his image, Elsa and others get up off the floor. They are able to watch as the blue fire completely replaces Tollak's own red fire. Once the transformation is complete, Tollak exclaims, "You haven't won yet, witch! I don't know how, but I will find a way to win!"

With this last statement, the blue flames begin to fade. As they do, snow in the shape of Tollak's image is left behind. In a few seconds, all that is left is a lightly stacked pile of snow in the image of Tollak. As Elsa and the others look at this formation, a warm breeze comes from the interior of the volcano and begins to blow the snow away.

Once the snow is gone, Elsa says, "Come on, we need to leave before Tollak is able to do something else." With this, Elsa begins to run towards the open air. Anna and Kristoff follow right behind her.

Just as they get outside, the ground shakes violently. Then the volcano begins to erupt. "Tollak is really letting everything out!" exclaims Kristoff.

"Either he is trying to fight his own power to move again, or he is trying to find a way to stop me from leaving," replies Elsa. "Either way, I don't want to be around to see if he is successful."

"Then it is best if we don't hang around," exclaims Anna.

As they were talking, Sven has pulled the sled up alongside. With the sled there, Anna and Kristoff climb on board. Meanwhile, Elsa stands alongside the sled. "Elsa, are you coming?" asks a concerned Anna.

"The sled won't be fast enough," replies Elsa. We need a quicker way to leave."

"The sled is all we have!" exclaims Kristoff. "We don't have any other way to go!"

Elsa looks over at Kristoff. Mattias was still sitting on his shoulder. "There is a faster way here," replies Elsa as she raises her forearm into the air. Then she says, "Mattias!"

In response, Mattias flies over to Elsa and lands on her arm. "Do you feel like flying us out of here, Mattias?" asks Elsa.

The firebird lets out an affirmative screech as he spreads his wings. "Thank you," replies Elsa to the firebird. With this, Elsa allows her free hand to flare up with blue flames. Then she begins to carefully feed this energy into Mattias. Elsa does this with some uncertainty. She is uncertain if Mattias will be able to take this alter state of Kristian's magic. However, the firebird is able to take the energy, and he begins to grow.

Mattias grows quickly in size. However, since Elsa was feeding energy, his coloration was different. Mattias still had his bright reddish orange back, but his belly had turned to the white of snow. Also Mattias's wing feathers altered between the colors of snow white and the red of fire. Now Mattias was striking in his colors. When Mattias was done growing, he stood taller that a one story house.

"Whoa," quietly exclaims Anna. "I didn't think I would see Mattias that big!"

"I was fortunate that I could feed some of my own magic into Mattias as well," replies Elsa. "I guess that Mattias just likes me. Otherwise, I don't think it would have worked."

"So now what?" asks Kristoff. "How are we all going to hang on Mattias's back?"

"We won't have to hold on," replies Elsa as she lifts her hands. With her magic, Elsa begins to cause an ice platform to form underneath the sled and Sven. Then sides form to make sure that everything would be secured. When everything was done, Elsa has created a basket around the sled. As she finishes, Elsa says, "There, now we can ride in comfort."

After this, another eruption comes from the volcano. Then lava starts to rapidly descend down the side of the mountain. "We need to get on the move!" exclaims Kristoff. "Tollak is upping his efforts!"

"Yes, we need to move!" replies Elsa as she hurries over and climbs onto the sled with Anna and Kristoff.

Once Elsa was seated, Mattias takes to the air. As Mattias comes swooping down onto the basket, Elsa creates a large handle on the basket. Mattias grabs ahold of this basket, and he begins to lift it into the air. The handle of the basket was hinged. So when Mattias begins to fly forwards, the basket is able to pivot on this hinge. This allows the basket to trail straight behind Mattias without tipping the basket.

With the swiftness of a bird, Mattias is able to fly everyone away from the volcanic home of Tollak's. As they leave, everyone is able to look back and see the volcano. That mountain almost seems to surge with anger, as vast amounts of lava surge out of the top. For a moment, a face seems to appear in the lava. As the face fades, it seemed as if the mountain roars out of anger.

In time, the volcano becomes nothing but a faint glow in the distance. While they fly through the air, Anna snuggles up next to Kristoff with a big smile on her face. Kristoff wraps his arms around Anna as well, and he can't help but smile too.

Meanwhile, Elsa sits on the other side of Anna. While she sits there, Elsa lets out a sigh of relief as she looks back at the red glow of the volcano. Anna hears this and turns to look at her sister. Then Anna reaches out and grabs Elsa hand. So Elsa turns and looks at Anna and sees Anna's smiling face.

"We all did it, Elsa," says Anna with a smile. "Kristian is free from Tollak's curse, and we were able to escape from Tollak as well."

A faint smile comes to Elsa's face, as she replies, "Yes, we all were lucky today. I just hope that all of this was not in vain."

"Why wouldn't things be fine?" asks Anna. "We shouldn't have anything more to worry about from Tollak."

"Tollak is no longer a concern, but Kristian is," replies Elsa. "Since the conflict with Tollak is over, I would have thought that Kristian would be taking his magic back. Yet, I have not sensed any sort of attempt. That concerns me a little."

"Perhaps Kristian isn't calling his magic back because you are still using it on Mattias," offers Anna as a comforting thought.

"I do hope you are right," says Elsa. "Still, I just hate all of this uncertainty."

As Anna and Elsa were talking, Kristoff looks down at the glacier below. He is astonished by what he sees. "Hey guys, the glacier is breaking apart down there," says Kristoff as he relays what he is seeing to the others.

Both Anna and Elsa look over the side to see large cracks develop in the glacier below. "Whoa," says Anna. "Do you think Tollak is doing this?"

"I don't think so," replies Elsa. "It took a great deal of energy to create this glacier. Part of that energy would have come from the magic that Tollak collected. With that magic now spread over the world, there isn't enough energy to maintain the Fire Glacier anymore."

When Elsa and the others first arrived at the glacier, it took them a full three days to travel up to the home of Tollak. Now they are being carried away from the volcano by Mattias and at a much faster speed. It only takes a few hours for the firebird to make the trip back to open waters.

Once Mattias locates the ship that they all had traveled on, the firebird begins to circle over the ship. "So, where should we land?" asks Anna as she looks for a possible landing spot.

"Who says we need to land here," replies Elsa with a smile as she uses her powers to create a sheet of paper with some writing on it.

"Aren't we going to board the ship?" then asks Kristoff.

"We can if you want, but I thought that we could have Mattias just fly us home. It would be the fastest way" replies Elsa.

"I know Sven and I will be up for it," replies Kristoff. "A boat ride is just not something that appeals to either of us."

"Oh, let's do it, Elsa," adds Anna. "It will be an exciting journey!"

"I'm glad you both feel that way," replies Elsa. "I just need to drop a note off for the Captain. He needs to know our plans, and that he doesn't have to wait for us."

With this, Elsa attaches a large snowflake to the note. Then she drops the message over the ship. The snowflake carries the message down gently to the ship. Once there, the message is brought to the Captain. After the Captain has read the note, he gives a wave to Elsa. Then Elsa and the others wave back.

"OK, Mattias, let's go home," loudly says Elsa to the firebird. In response, Mattias lets out a screech, and he turns to fly south.

As Mattias flies, he follows close to the coast. In this way, the firebird is able to find his way home. It took Elsa and the others over three weeks to sail north to the Fire Glacier. Now Mattias is able to cover that ground in a fraction of the time. In less than a week, with Elsa feeding energy into the firebird, Mattias is able to get everyone back to the Kingdom of Arendelle.
