Chapter 28
13 days until the Alpha Grimm Appears
Today we at Vale News Network interviewed General James Ironwood. Commander in lead of the Grimm Quarantine advised the citizens on the situation currently in effect in and around Vale. The General had this to say.
"Citizens of Vale, as all of you know. One district of the city has been lost to the Grimm, but we have contained it and have been actively trying to take it back. However, a few updates with the situation. The Green Zone, the area that has little to no security to the rest of Vale has been shortened to expand for the Yellow Zone, which is now expanded 300 meters from the Security Wall. Now a current 800 meters across Vale from the Red Zone, which is within the Security Wall. Also known as Ground Zero. All citizens are required to have Identification within the Yellow Zone at all times. Any citizens caught within 100 meters or less of the Security Wall are subject to punishment under Military Law. Curfew is at 9pm within the Yellow Zone, anyone caught outside after this time. Is subject to punishment under Military. Remember Citizens, your Vigilance is our Key."
Natalie turned off the radio before dismounting the bike in front of the apartment complex. I once again fell of the bike from Natalie's need for speed. She laughed at my misery removing her helmet.
"You okay there cowboy?" She asked me as I threw up on the ground.
"Why do you do this to me?" I asked coughing up the remaining excess.
"Because its funny, but in all seriousness. Are you sure you want to ask for his help? You know, he still hates you." Natalie stated as I picked myself up of the ground.
"As much as I hate to admit it, he is the strongest out of the 3 of us. We need his help if we are going to infiltrate the Red Zone. You know this Natalie." I said dusting off the coat.
"Wait, where the hell do I rank out of the 3 of us?" She asked as I walked inside.
"3 out of 3." I responded.
"You bastard." She said as we stopped just inside the lobby noticing an old and familiar face. A young raven haired girl with a beret.
"Kate? What the hell are you doing here?" I asked as the girl turned towards me before drawing her pistol on me.
"I want to ask the same question Kerrigan." She said as Natalie reached for long rifle before I stopped her.
"Damn it Gabriel!" Natalie excalimed.
"Sergeant MacMillian, it is Sergeant isn't it? Or is it Corporal? I lost track. I am not here for you, I have no quarrel with you. Now please, can you get out my way? I have to talk to an old friend. Please." I asked her as she pulled the hammer back.
"And why the hell should I move for you?" She demanded from me as I gritted my teeth. She was stubborn, damn it all. She doesn't know.
"Because Kate, in 13 days, everyone you know or love will be dead. Is that enough motivation?" I asked as she lowered her pistol.
"Are you talking about the Grimm? Because it is contained." She said.
"Not the Alpha Grimm, a creature of massive size and destructive power that it is capable of wiping that pathetic security wall of the map and this entire city. And I can't do this alone. Which is why I need to get to that elevator. Now are you going to get out my way. Or not?" I asked her as she gave a sigh of frustration.
"Go Kerrigan, but believe you me, this conversation is far from over." She said as I entered the elevator with Natalie.
"I know, have a good one Kate." I said as the elevator doors were closed separating us.
Damn it Kerrigan, every time I need to talk to you. Every damn time.
I sighed in pure frustration gritting my teeth. That son of a bitch is lucky I didn't put a bullet in him. However, a piece of cold metal was placed against my throat as my body froze up. I felt my pistol being taken from my hand.
"Relax Sergeant, I am not here to kill you." The unknown man said as I felt the cold metal release from my neck. Turning around to see a man in a black duster and long silver blonde hair with blood red eyes putting a steel knife away. Holding my pistol in his other hand.
"I know you, Revan. Or should I say Caine Kerrigan?" I asked him as he chuckled pulling the slide back ejecting the round and dropping the clip to the ground before throwing the weapon aside.
"I am curious, how did you find out my true identity? Was it my brother?" He asked me as I crossed my arms.
"Yes and no. I found out through my investigation of him. Which led me to who you were." I responded as he sat down on the couch in the lobby.
"Very astute Kate. Not many have been able to figure out my identity. However, I didn't come here for idle chit chat. No, I came here to inform you everything my brother said was true. That in 13 days this city will cease to exist. And the only ones who can stop it, that Alpha Grimm are him...and me." Caine said getting up.
"What do you want me to do?" I asked.
"I want you to help my brother, however you can getting him into the Red Zone. He can't do it with 3 people. So do what you can Sergeant. And I'll owe you. Now if you'll excuse me..."
"Wait Caine!" I exclaimed as he stopped turning around to face me.
"What?" He asked.
"That night back in the hospital, you saved my life. Why?" I asked him.
"That wasn't my intention, I was saving my brother's life. Besides, I had my reasons for doing so." He responded.
"Thank you, that's all I wanted to say to you Caine." I said. However he looked away from me.
"Don't thank me, please. I am not a good person. I never was. If you want to thank me, help my brother Kate. Please." He asked me as I smiled.
"I'll do what I can Caine." I said.
"I'll talk to you soon." He said disappearing into thin air as I took a deep breath. What the hell was that? Was I just flirting with the deadliest assassin of the 4 kingdoms? I mentally slapped myself before going to retrieve my weapon.
Outside Murasaki's apartment
5 minutes earlier
"Gabriel, there...there is something I have to tell you." I said anxiously. God how would I even explain it to him? How would he react? So many variables, and I didn't have a choice. He would find out sooner or later. I had to inform him somehow. Gabriel finished knocking on the door before looking at me.
"What is it?" He asked me as I nervously blushed not knowing how to say it. Even though it took an action of two words.
"Gabriel...I'm...I'm..." I stuttered trying with all my might to say it.
"What? You can tell me Natalie." He said comfortingly as I took a deep breath before spatting it out.
"I'm pregnant Gabriel!" I yelled out as he just stared at me silently with the most shocked look on his face as he was trying to process the whole situation. Of what he had just heard. He just couldn't believe it.
"W-What?" He asked finally after a long break in silence before the door opened up to him getting a punch in the face from a pissed off Murasaki.
"And what in the fuck are you doing here Gabriel?" Murasaki asked the man he had knocked down who was still trying to process what he had just heard.
What...in...the...Fuck?
