Needless to say this storyline takes place before the end of Jenny Tyler, Time's Angel Chapter 67.
DOOMSDAY PART 4
Jenny finished destroying the rest of the Cybermen and laughed with joy as she did a victory dance. Then she looked at a terrified Andromeda and gave her a warm smile.
"Don't worry, sister. You're safe. I won't hurt you. I suppose I'll leave her alone too since you like her," Jenny said as she looked at Buffy.
"Thanks so much," Buffy said as she glared at her.
"Don't push it. Only Andromeda matters to me not you," Jenny said as her eyes began to glow with power.
"Are you trying to threaten me?" Buffy asked.
"Not everything's about you, Blondie. I'm trying to find my husband if you must know. Yes, there he is. Come, sister. We must find Pat," Jenny said as she held her hand out to Andromeda.
"W-what about Buffy?" Andromeda asked terrified of Jenny.
Jenny rolled her eyes as she said, "I suppose she can come along too. I don't know why you want her to though."
"Yes, you do. She's terrified of you, and she doesn't want to be left alone with you," Buffy said.
Jenny became very sad as she said, "I know."
Then she hugged Andromeda and said, "I'm not going to hurt you. Don't worry."
Andromeda calmed down somewhat as she had a renewed hope that her Jenny was still in there somewhere. She had certainly sounded like her just then.
"Let's go," Jenny said as her voice become colder as she held the hands of both girls.
Before she could teleport away though, Doctor Doom suddenly appeared from out of nowhere using his time platform. He smiled at Jenny as he said, "I can see from all of the piles of metal debris around you that you've become a new woman these days, Jenny. Maybe someone that I can deal with?"
"Go away, Victor. I don't have time for you right now. I have a husband to rescue. After which I may or may not keep him alive depending on my mood," Jenny said in an irritated voice.
"I can help you rescue him. I've been watching you, and I know what's happening. I'm sure that I can easily find a way to drive Ultron out of Stark's armor and help you defeat the Cybermen. In return, you can restore my body back for me so that I can leave this robotic form behind. Then we can talk about joining forces on a more permanent basis. Together we could rule this universe and every other throughout the multiverse," Doom said.
"I can and will do all of that by myself. I certainly don't need your help to do it," Jenny said as she chuckled at him.
Doom tried to hold back his anger at her condescending attitude as he said, "Wouldn't you need a great source of power in order to take over everything far easier though? I can give you that source of power."
Jenny looked at him intrigued as she said, "I'm listening."
"Jenny, we don't have time for this. We have to save Patrick and the Earth, remember?" Andromeda reminded her.
"Be quiet, sister! I need to find out if this peasant knows anything that may be of use to me or not. Your mother can save Pat well enough I'm sure. She's not entirely incompetent," Jenny said in an angry voice.
Andromeda looked at her with despair and turned away from her with a hurt expression on her face. Jenny gently turned her face back towards her and said, "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to be so hateful."
Andromeda smiled at her and said, "That's some progress at least, isn't it? At least you can still feel a little bit of guilt even now."
Buffy almost smiled at that even as she continued to eye her warily. She was still afraid that Jenny might try to kill Andromeda. She was like a powder keg ready to go off at any moment.
"If we could get back to the matter at hand," Doom said.
"I'm addressing my sister. Kindly keep your mouth closed when in the presence of your betters until you are spoken to. I am a Lady of Time and a Guardian, and I expect to be treated as such," Jenny said with a pompous air to her voice.
Doom could barely restrain himself from attacking her right then and there, but he somehow kept his temper under control as he said, "I know of a great source of power that can let you easily conquer any world or destroy it if it dares to oppose you. I can tell you how to get to it and help you get it if you'll allow me to rule by your side."
"I already have a husband. For the moment, I'm thinking of keeping him. Even if I wasn't, I'm not interested in you," Jenny said.
"I'm not suggesting that sort of rule. I'm saying that I wish to rule as your partner, and I want this universe as my own," Doom said.
"That could be arranged if the source of power that you speak of is useful to me. Tell me about it," Jenny said.
"Jenny, we need to go," Buffy said.
Jenny glared at her as she said, "If you speak again, I'll disintegrate your tongue. I'm only giving you this one chance because my sister cares about you for some reason. I suggest that you accept my mercy and keep quiet."
"Don't talk to her that way! She saved your life!" Andromeda said in anger.
"I bet she regrets that now, doesn't she?" Jenny said laughing.
"No, I don't. I saved Jenny not whatever you are. Jenny was my friend," Buffy said.
Jenny looked at her with eyes filled with sadness for a moment but said nothing more. Buffy could tell that her friend was still in there somewhere fighting to get out. She could only hope that it wasn't too late for her to be saved somehow.
"If we could continue with our business arrangement, I will tell you of the Ultimate Nullifier. It is currently in the World Ship of the great eater of worlds, Galactus. The Ultimate Nullifier can destroy anyone or anything that it is pointed at. It would be invaluable to you as a weapon to use against your enemies and to force certain worlds to bow down before you that otherwise might not. I can tell you where to find it and how to get into the ship and get back out with it without being detected by the Devourer of Worlds," Doom said.
"It certainly sounds interesting. You neglected to tell me that the user is also destroyed if their mind isn't focused enough to control it. You thought that would happen to me because of my current mental state, didn't you? Then you could just pick up the weapon and use it to rule this universe. Am I right?" Jenny said smiling at him.
"That's not so. I'm sure that someone with your level of intelligence could easily handle it," Doom lied.
"You've very good, Doom. You lie with such ease that you make it look like child's play. I'm not falling for it though," Jenny said as she held out her hand and an object suddenly appeared in it.
An object that Doom immediately recognized as the Ultimate Nullifier.
"How?" Doom asked in surprise.
"As soon as you told me about it, I located it with my power. It's mine now. Let Galactus come and take it if he wants it. Now that I have it, I no longer need you, do I? Can you guess what I'm going to do with my new toy next?" Jenny said as she grinned malevolently at Doom.
Doom's eyes widened with horror as she pointed the Nullifer at him, and he quickly used his time platform to leave.
"Well, that certainly got rid of him, didn't it?" Jenny said laughing.
"What are you going to do with that?" Andromeda asked eyeing the weapon warily.
"Nothing for now. You worry too much, sister," Jenny said as she smiled at her and sent the Nullifier to a pocket universe temporarily for safe keeping.
"I can't imagine why," Andromeda said.
"I can," Buffy said.
Jenny laughed as she teleported herself, Andromeda, and Buffy to where she had last detected Patrick. Maybe she would keep Buffy around after all. She decided not to kill her as long as she kept her amused with her jokes at least not for now anyway.
Doom continued to watch her from his castle. He would not let her threaten this planet. This planet would belong to Doom, and he would never allow anyone else to have it especially not some insane upstart Time Lady with delusions of godhood.
Meanwhile the Iron Man armor possessed by Ultron and currently carrying Tony Stark and Patrick landed on top of the Baxter Building, the headquarters of the Fantastic Four. Instead of being automatically let in though, Ultron received a surprise.
"Hey, Ultron. Can ya guess what time it is?" a gruff voice said from behind him.
Ultron turned around just in time to see a giant orange brick covered fist headed right at his face. The giant fist instantly sent him flying off of the building as he dropped Patrick and Tony due to the fist's impact.
"That's right, ya creep! It's clobberin' time!" the Thing, the super strong member of the Fantastic Four with rock hard orange skin that looked like bricks said with a huge smile on his face.
"How did he know that we were coming?" Patrick asked.
"I told him. Ultron thought that he was blocking my armor from contacting the outside world, but he was wrong. I used a back door program to take over the communication systems of this armor without Ultron detecting it in order to warn the other heroes he was coming. The other suits of armor are going to get the same welcoming committee that he got here everywhere that they go thanks to me," Tony said with a grin.
"That's not the same thing as stopping them though. Can you do that?" Patrick asked.
"I'm still working on it," Tony said.
"Yeah? Well, work faster, Stark, because he's comin' back," the Thing said as Ultron in his Iron Man armor flew back up to the top of the building and began firing at them with his repulsor rays.
"There's no need to worry, Super Woman's here," Spider-Man said as he and Eris suddenly appeared out of nowhere, and Ultron's blasts bounced harmlessly off of her force field.
"Who are you supposed to be, lady?" the Thing asked.
"My name's Charlotte. For the moment, I'm here carrying out a mission to save your world for a friend of mine who's too sick to do it right now," Eris said as she started to attack Ultron with blasts of dark energy from her hands.
"Exactly what are you though? A mutant? Some kind of god like Thor or somethin'?" the Thing asked.
"I'm a Guardian of Time if that means anything to you," Eris said leaving out exactly which Guardian that she was even as she continued to attack Ultron who was now using the armor's pulse bolts against her with no success.
"Not really, no. I guess as long as you're on the side of the angels though that's good enough for me. You're also easy on the eyes which also doesn't hurt any," the Thing said grinning at her.
"She is, isn't she?" Tony agreed.
"If you two are done hitting on her, do you think that we could come up with a plan to handle the psychotic robot that's trying to kill us?" Spider-Man said as he rolled his eyes at him.
"What is going on lately? Everyone just keeps hitting on me. No one ever used to hit me before," Eris said confused even as what was left of the Cybermen now joined into the fight, and the four of them started to fight them together.
"You said that you were one of the bad guys before, right?" Spider-Man said in a low voice where the others couldn't hear him as he punched one Cyberman and used his web to throw another one right into the path of the Thing's waiting fist.
"Yeah," Eris said as she looked down in shame.
"Maybe they were too afraid to flirt with you then," Spider-Man suggested.
Eris laughed as she said, "You could be right. I guess I did have a reputation for being a bit of a . . . hard person to deal with."
"Why are you laughing at him for? What did he say that was so funny?" Tony asked in a jealous tone as he regained the use of his armor and used its repulsor rays to destroy several of the Cybermen around him at once.
"Play along with me," Spider-Man whispered to Eris.
"What's the matter, Stark? Jealous? I guess you're not quite the millionaire playboy that you thought that you were after all," Spider-Man said as he put his arm around Eris in an attempt to make Tony even more jealous.
"This is amazing. I could get used to this," Eris said in a low voice smiling as she played along with this act by putting her arm around Spider-Man in return.
"It looks like the Web Head's got himself a new girlfriend," the Thing said impressed as he continued to mercilessly pummel all of the Cybermen in his immediate area and reduced them to rubble in a matter of seconds as soon as they came near him.
Tony said something that sounded just a tad nasty under his breath as Spider-Man laughed.
"You would mindlessly flirt while I stand ready to take over your planet at any moment? Your pitiful race deserves its fate with such pathetic defenders such as you," Ultron said as he released yet another devastating attack that tore apart the entire area and even managed to finally break through Eris' force field.
The heroes all started to run from the insane robot as they continued to do their best to fight back against him. The Thing threw huge chunks of the roof at him while Spider-Man attacked him relentlessly while easily avoiding all of his own attacks because he was simply too fast for him to hit. Eris meanwhile was nursing a massive headache after having her force field shattered, but she still continued to attack Ultron with massive blasts of energy that he continued to evade with the Iron Man armor's lightning fast reflexes. Iron Man himself however was fighting Ultron in a different way. A way that was about to finally pay off.
"Hey, Charlotte! Can your boy toy over there do this?" Tony said as he suddenly gained control over all of the suits of armor once again at last.
"What have you done to me?!" Ultron shouted out in dismay as he suddenly found himself trapped inside of a suit of armor that no longer obeyed any of his commands.
"That's what you get for stealing someone else's tech, Ultron. Sometimes it comes back to bite you. Your little invasion's over with, and you're going to be locked in the basement of Avengers Mansion where you can't ever bother anyone again while I try to find out what makes you tick. We're going to be seeing a lot of each other soon. Doesn't that sound fun?" Tony taunted him.
"Don't count on it, Stark," Ultron said as more Cybermen started appearing from the massive Cyber Ship that now appeared above them.
"Oh, you mean your new friends up there? I think we've got them covered. Charlotte, do your thing," Tony said confidently.
"I'm a little busy right now, Tony. You handle the ship," Eris said as she fought with a small army of Cybermen that had suddenly appeared around her.
"Okay. Well, I guess I'll just have to handle things myself then. So what else is new? I thought I'd give you the spotlight, but if you don't want it that's fine by me. I'm just trying to be more humble lately," Tony said.
Suddenly all of the suits of Iron Man armor came flying in together and started to attack the Cybermen while under Tony's mental command. He smiled as they all started making mincemeat out of the alien invaders with a little help from the other heroes of course.
"You? Humble? That'll be the day," Spider-Man said laughing.
"It could happen," Tony said shrugging.
It seemed that the day had been finally won by the time that Jenny suddenly arrived with Andromeda and Buffy. She saw that the Cybermen were on the verge of losing and so didn't even bother to concern herself with them. Instead she immediately went to Patrick and dragged him away from the others.
"You've certainly been a lot of trouble to find. Let's go now. I have universes to conquer and enemies to destroy," Jenny said grinning.
"Jenny, you're not going anywhere without me. I'm supposed to be watching over you," Eris said.
"Oh, well if you must," Jenny said as she started to turn away from her.
Then she quickly turned around with the Ultimate Nullifier in her hand and pointed it at her.
"Where did you get that thing at? Don't tell me that you just asked Galactus for it politely, and he gave it to you?" the Thing said in shock.
"I borrowed it from him for a while. He won't even miss it," Jenny said.
"I think you might be wrong," the Thing said as he pointed above them.
Galactus' World Ship appeared in the sky and a large beam of energy came from it instantly incinerating the Cyber Ship above them. Then Galactus himself came down from it and hovered above them.
"Give me back the Nullifier, Daughter of the Wolf, or I will take it from your scattered atoms," Galactus said.
"Oh, boy. He does not sound too happy. That's for sure," Spider-Man said.
"Come and take it if you can," Jenny said with a smile as she pointed it at him.
"You have much to learn, Doctor's Daughter. For all of the power that you have, you are still just a novice in the ways of the multiverse. The most important of those lessons is that there is always someone more powerful than you are somewhere out there, Jenny Tyler. You must know your limitations and learn to not overreach your grasp," Galactus said.
Eris stepped in front of Jenny as she said, "Oh, great and noble Galactus, I ask you to show mercy to her. She's not herself. She hasn't been well lately."
"I am aware of that. That is why I didn't destroy her the instant that I found out about her theft of my property. I will not allow her to go unpunished for that action however," Galactus said.
His eyes glowed with power and the Nullifier disappeared from Jenny's hand to her astonishment. Then he began bathing her in cosmic energy beams from his eyes as she screamed in agony.
"No! She's sick. It isn't her fault," Eris protested.
"Leave her alone!" Patrick shouted in anger.
"I could crush you like a bug, human, but I admire your loyalty to your wife so I will let your insolence pass this time. I am not killing her. I am simply rendering her unconscious so that you may safely remove her from this dimension. She would not have gone otherwise, and I cannot allow her to keep what is mine," Galactus said.
His cosmic bombardment stopped, and Jenny fell to the ground unconscious. Patrick quickly picked her up and checked to see if she was still breathing as he held her close to him protectively.
"I'm sorry for all of this, Jenny," Patrick said as he tenderly kissed her forehead.
"Take her home now while you still can, Black Guardian. Your mission for her here is done. This universe is now safe once more," Galactus said.
Eris blinked as she asked, "That was you, wasn't it? You redirected Jenny's vision to me somehow."
"Yes, because this universe was still in danger from the threat of the Cybermen," Galactus said.
"I think it's because you have a soft spot for us humans, don't you?" the Thing said grinning.
Galactus said nothing even though he knew that what the Thing had said was true.
Galactus quietly left not even realizing that Doctor Doom had used this entire incident to his advantage and had quickly gotten in and out of Galactus' ship before he had even noticed it. He smiled to himself as he returned to Latveria with his body now fully intact. It would have taken too long to restore his body with even his own technology so he quickly used one of Galactus' various pieces of alien tech in order to remake his body much faster. He knew that planting the idea to steal the Nullifier in Jenny's head would cause Galactus to come to Earth in order to retrieve his weapon and had taken advantage of that opportunity to benefit himself. Now he was whole once more just as he had planned. Even in defeat, Doom had won.
As the last of the Cybermen were found and finished off, Eris prepared to leave and take Jenny back home quickly before she woke up. Before she could go though, Tony blocked her way as he asked, "So you're not interested in that date? I mean you can't be serious about Spider-Man. Come on!"
"I . . . There are things that you don't know about me," Eris said nervously.
"Yeah, I kind of got that idea when Galactus called you the Black Guardian after you gave me a fake name. I think I'm a pretty good judge of people though, and you seem like one of the good guys to me. Even if you're not, I've dated bad girls before so it's not that big a deal to me," Tony said smiling.
"You are so full of yourself, aren't you?" Eris said laughing.
"I just know for a fact that I'm as amazing as I think that I am. What's wrong with that?" Tony said smugly.
"Alright, I'll go out on a date. One date," Eris said finally relenting.
"Yes!" Andromeda said nearby.
"What did I tell you about eavesdropping?" Eris said with a sigh.
"Sorry, Mum. I'm just happy for you. You're finally acting like a normal Mum now," Andromeda said.
Eris laughed at her. She was so glad that she could make her smile like that now.
Meanwhile Spider-Man walked over to Patrick who was still holding Jenny close to him while she slept and said, "Tell her when she wakes up that I hope that she'll be alright. If she's ever better again, please let me know. I'd just like to know if she's okay. I hope that she makes it out of this. She certainly deserves to. She helped me out of a real jam recently against an enemy of mine, and she got hurt saving my world so I know what a good person that she is. I hope that that kindness gets repaid back to her somehow."
"Thank you. I'll let you know somehow I promise. I know it's going to be soon because she'll beat this. I'm sure of it. She always does the impossible just like her mum," Patrick said.
"If anybody deserves to have the impossible happen for them, she certainly does," Spider-Man said.
Then Patrick, Jenny, and the others left, and Spider-Man didn't hear from them for a while not even when Eris returned to go on that date with Stark. It must have worked out well because they had arranged to go on a second one.
No one ever told him anything more about Jenny. He just kept waiting to hear good news about her. He wondered if he ever would.
Then when he had finally given up hope and had started to think of Jenny as yet another person who he had failed to save and whose face would soon start haunting his nightmares along with a host of others, he received a very pleasant surprise for once. As he was swinging across New York patrolling the landscape, he heard a very famous voice behind him ask, "How's it going, Web Head?"
He turned to see Jenny floating there in the middle of the air again just like before.
"You're not going to kill me, are you?" Spider-Man asked hesitantly.
She looked at him sadly as she said, "I'm so sorry about that. I'm better now. I promise that person is gone now. Well, she's not gone, but she's no longer a part of me anyway."
"So you're okay now?" Spider-Man asked.
"I'm fine. I'm sorry if I worried you. Patrick didn't tell me that you wanted to know how I was until today. Of course, I didn't recover until just the other day so you didn't miss anything," Jenny said.
"Something seems different about you though," Spider-Man noticed.
"I've lost my Vortex powers, but I still have my Guardian powers and visions so I haven't lost too much at least not powers wise anyway. Maybe someday I'll get them back," Jenny said.
"I don't know what happened, but I'm so glad that you're back and that you're yourself again. It's nice to know that sometimes good things actually do happen to good people after all," Spider-Man said.
Then he hugged her tightly in relief, and Jenny smiled at him. She knew that Peter Parker had had a really hard life and had lost a lot of people that he had cared about. She was glad that at least for a little while that she could bring some much needed light into that life. If anyone deserved it, he did.
Next: Jenny's back to normal once again just in time to go on a mission to the world of Sherlock where Jenny comes across a Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson different from the ones that she knows. She offers this world's Sherlock some assistance in solving a case involving a mysterious set of murders linked to a giant rat. Could it be that an old enemy of Jenny's parents is on the loose here? Plus we'll get an appearance from Ishtar, Theta, and April straight from the Rise of Discord and maybe some new companions will join Jenny and Eris' little multiverse traveling group as well.
