Chapter 28: Sickness of Friend Peter

Peter was curled up on his bed, a fleece blanket wrapped around him tightly. Peter hated his life at this moment, not only is his spider DNA was now Extremis infected and his body had accepted with it… It seems like his immune system was failing as he felt like this was the worst cold he had ever had in his life. He was cold, then hot, then cold again. Even when he was hot, his skin still had Goosebumps and sweat was trickling down the side of his face. His nose was stuffed up and his throat was scratchy and his temple was pounding.

"Life sucks J." Peter said sounding just as stuffed up as he was.

"Would you like to watch TV Master Peter?" Jarvis asked kindly. "Master Bruce, Miss Hansen and Sir are working on the cure for your Extremis as we speak."

"TV would be good…Thanks J… If they could create the cure to the cold that is currently killing me I would rather have that right now however." Peter blew his red and dry nose.

"I'll be sure to pass your wishes onto sir. I shall keep the lights low as not to hurt your head." Jarvis, Peter swore sounded amused.

"Thanks so much J." Peter snuggled down into his blanket, one of the many Avenger branded items that popped up after the whole New York battle. A local news station appeared on the wall, the sick teen was facing and what appeared caught the teen's attention.

'And the world grieves as iconic man Norman Osborn passed away today and Oscorp is passed onto Harry Osborn who has returned home from being aboard for years. Stockholders are very uneasy about this change in ownership however…'

"J, change the station please…" Peter whispered, his mind whirring. Harry Osborn was back… His best friend when he was younger was back… His best friend who just lost his father and was handed a company was back… He felt a huge need to go see Harry, but his sick body was posing a problem.

"Stupid mutant powers… Can't even stop the common cold." Peter growled annoyed.

He sighed and looked back up to the movie that was playing, 'Inception'. He loved that movie; he had seen it a million times so he could watch it mindlessly now that he was sick.

Peter decided that the moment his cold was gone, he would go visit Harry, no matter if he had Extremis in him or not. While he was stuck sick in his room, he had started to practice taming Extremis. He started with little things, like melting small trinkets that were made of different materials. By the time he couldn't move from being so achy and stiff he could control it pretty decently, but he still hated it with a passion. He hated what it had turned him into, a killer… It made him feel like he was no better than Brandt or Killian and that thought in itself made him feel even worse.

Peter wrapped the fleece around him self tighter than before and watched the movie, trying to focus on it but his mind kept drifting and he snapped out of it when he heard a soft knocking at his door.

"Yeah?" Peter called out, still sounding nasally.

"I brought you some soup Friend Peter, the others said this would help you feel better." Thor didn't boom in his usual manner for once, he must have been told what being sick was like for humans and he was taking it into consideration.

"Thank you Thor." Peter shuffled upwards on his bed, bringing him self into a sitting position. He extracted his arms from the blanket and gratefully taking the cup full of soup from the Thunder God. He blew on it gently before slurping some of the warm soup, feeling it warming him. Not like Extremis, but like good ole fashion soup should.

"Does soup really help humans get over illness?" Thor asked curiously.

"Not really, but it feels great when you are cold, then hot, then cold again. It is also easy to eat and settles nicely on an unsettled stomach." Peter explained.

"Ah… I think I understand." Thor said after a moment of thought.

"Do Asgardian's ever get sick?" Peter asked just as curious as Thor had been a few moments ago.

"Not like humans do… Loki one time… He overused his magic during a battle and was laid up in bed much like you for a week afterwards." Thor admitted.

"What did you do? I mean on Earth… Parents or friends come by and comfort the sickly, but what about on Asgard?" Peter sipped the cooling soup, eyes trained on Thor.

"Well… Our mother or myself came by and read with him… Sometimes during the night we would sleep side by side… I would hold Loki if he had a nightmare…" Thor was reliving memories.

"You miss him…" Peter commented bluntly. "I think in his own messed up way, he misses you too."

"Do you believe so?" Thor looked up startled.

"I live beside him and have had many a conversations with him… So yes I believe deep down he does." Peter nodded his head. "Deep… Deep down."

"That does indeed sound like my brother." Thor laughed slightly.

Peter internally cheered at his success of making a freaking Norse God laugh! He sipped the last of his soup as Thor told him stories of Asgard and of his childhood with Loki. Then Thor told him of his and Jane's meeting, making Peter laugh at how he got tased and now the teen was determined to meet Darcy.

Peter had long finished his soup and was curled up under his blanket again, Jarvis having turned the movie off when Thor had entered the room.

"Friend Peter, you are tried… Please rest." Thor advised.

"But I like your stories…" Peter whined, trying to stop a yawn but failed.

"There are many more stories I can tell you Friend Peter, but for now you rest." Thor said, sounding like a parent.

"Ok…" Peter yawned again.

"I shall tell you a story my mother used to tell Loki and I when we were children to get us to sleep." Thor decided, making sure the teen was comfortable, he started his tale. Peter felt him self start to drift off listening to Thor's old English type of speech.

He subconsciously curled up towards Thor's body heat, smiling as he felt Thor wrap his arms around his body. He guess this may have brought back some memories of doing this with Loki when they were younger and at this point in time Peter was perfectly alright with it.

Thor fell asleep soon after Peter did, he was stroking Peter's hair softly trying not to let his mind wander to a future he could never have. As the two slept, they didn't notice the fact the door had opened a few times. Each time the door showed a different Avenger who had stopped to check in on Peter and each time they smiled/cooed. Some also pulled out their phones to take photos of the adorable scene before them, Pepper among them. Sending it to Jane right away and then going to show Tony and Steve how good an Uncle Thor was turning out to be.
