All manner of people from all kinds of backgrounds and with all kinds of viewpoints and mindsets ranging from saintly to deplorable lived on Coruscant. Although the upper class preferred to ignore those who lived in the lower levels, the fact still remained that on any given day one could run across a bounty hunter, a mercenary, a tourist, a war criminal, a priestess, and even a Jedi within a five minute span. So it wasn't the sight of either Obi-Wan Kenobi or Asajj Ventress that shocked the nondescript passerby into stillness. It was the sight of them together that did.

After the Maul and Savage incident, they weren't exactly enemies anymore, but neither were they friends. Were they? The picture framed by the restaurant window certainly made a compelling argument.

Jedi and bounty hunter sat across from each other at a small table as a waiter droid cleared away their dishes. They were talking and laughing as if they'd never been foes. Even more surprising, if such a thing were possible, was their attire. Obi-Wan had opted for a more civilian look with a light shirt and grey trousers (sans armor, of course), and Ventress had left her utilitarian garb behind in favor of a dark, fitted dress that bared her shoulders and arms. They both looked like themselves, and yet not. The image was jarring.

They had been leaning on the table, talking quietly, when the waiter droid returned with a plate of decoratively cut fruit. Must have been dessert. They sat up as if realizing how close they'd been and began to pick out their favorite pieces. Obi-Wan ate normally, but Ventress paused before grinning. She brought the fruit to her mouth and made a show of closing her lips around it. Obi-Wan stopped mid-chew and stared. Ventress took her time finishing off the fruit and didn't break eye contact until she reached for another piece. Even at this distance the figure outside could see color rise to Obi-Wan's face as he shook his head and looked away. Ventress said something, a very un-innocent smile on her lips, and Obi-Wan smiled in response. He then reached across the table and gently grasped her hand, his thumb stroking over her knuckles.

The passerby was momentarily conflicted by the sight. That confusion quickly gave way to a soft smile as Obi-Wan raised Ventress's hand for a kiss. Whatever had happened in recent weeks between them was obviously good for them; they both looked so happy at the moment, very different from their usual selves. Times were becoming darker and more uncertain with each passing day. So if a Jedi and a former Sith assassin had managed to somehow find even the slightest bit of happiness with each other, then what right did anyone have to judge them?

I'll bet Anakin is thrilled with this, the figure thought wryly. Oddly satisfied with the scene and its implications, Ahsoka spared one more moment to observe the two on their date, then went on her way to leave them in peace.
