Chapter 28: Moving On
Draco was curled up in his bed with Harry resting on top of him. It had been several days since the attack. Harry was still recuperating he would have days where he would wake up and be fine. Then the next day he would be plagued by nightmares. Which would cause both boys to be out of commission for some time. Draco saw everything by the link Harry had with Voldemort. Felt the fear everything. While Harry was unconscious person after person Draco watched get killed or tortured. All through Harry's link. Draco wasn't sure what was next; break would be ending. Would they be going back to Hogwarts, was that an option at this point? No one was mentioning it. His mother would come in daily to check in on Harry who was the worse of the two. Give the two food some potions ask if they needed anything and then instruct an elf to do anything else.
Draco shifted a bit and poked at Harry. Was today going to be an unconscious day or an awake day. Draco was never really sure; some visions effected him worse that others. "Harry you awake?"
"No..." Harry grumbled hugging Draco tighter. "Can't we stay like this forever."
Draco chuckled a bit. He wished it was that easy. It should be but alas this was Harry Potter things never seemed to go that easy. They needed to get things moving; Voldemort wasn't going to give up. Bellatrix was a constant threat she knew everything possible seeing as she was family. "Come on we need to get out of this room it's been days."
"bleh"
With a bit of a struggle a few winces and gasps Harry got out of bed. He pulled on a pair of Draco's robes which were entirely the wrong size but looked fair enough on him they were maroon and silver in colour an odd pairing but it worked. He stumbled around for his glasses found them and put them on. By this point he had over exerted himself and took a seat waiting for Draco to follow. Who was taking a bit longer at pulling his hair up and getting dressed.
"Lets have tea in the sun room." Draco said finally and snapped his fingers for an elf to appear. "Of course Master Draco; whatever Master Draco wants he will have!" the elf nodded feverishly at Draco's requests and then bounded away to do things.
Draco and Harry made their way slowly to the solarium. It was colder in the house than either preferred this would be something fixed as soon as possible. When the two entered they were greeted by Narcissa and Hagrid. The giant was looking a bit tired.
"Arry Raco yer both awake now i see." Hagrid boomed and smiled when the boys walked in. "nearly dint make it... glad yer ok."
"Hagrid you look terrible where have you been." Harry mustered taking a seat.
Hagrid went into explaining for the last few months he had worked on an alliance with the giants. Which had almost been lost completely; if it hadn't been for Draco marking the people as an enemy the giants were prepared to ally with the dark lord. A majority of the western giants were lost. As a result many of voldemort's former alliances were backing down; particularly after the veela fact became more known. Hagrid was the giant who was at the meeting that ported the boys back. He was the only survivor from the meeting and was grateful for such. Very sad so many were lost.
"So the giants are no longer in alliance?"
"No, But tis sad so many died."
"what about Blaise?"
Narcissa looked guilt stricken she placed her hands on Harry's back and patted him gently. She didn't like that she had to tell more bad news to her sons mate. "He didn't make it. The Zabini's had a ceremony 2 days ago Draco and you were out cold."
The elves brought out plates of biscuits and little sandwiches and tea interrupting Narcissa from continuing. Harry instantly went for some tea and nibbled on a biscuit his face showing he was at a complete loss at what was going on.
"How are the Weasley's" Draco inquired for his mate. Knowing that would be the next question "and Granger"
"Well they are fine. The young one Ginny she is staying with the Zabini residence she isn't taking it so well. But everyone is fine."
"What of Lucius?"
"Er We don't think he made it dere raco" Hagrid said shoving food into his mouth.
"But we aren't certain" Narcissa interrupted.
"Lucius is dead." Harry whispered and looked away from everyone. "Voldemort he's been playing it back in his head. He isn't happy about the loss."
"wait what how do you know?" Draco perked up looking at Harry confused. What was his mate keeping from him.
"He put the memory of the fight in his pensive." Harry explained weakly and sighed. "You me and Hagrid we escaped. Voldemort doesn't know it was Hagrid... you were wearing a glamour were you not?" Harry nodded towards Hagrid who shook his head positively back.
"was to hide my ere dentity"
"yes well, Once he fired the curse at your father he was gone already. Nothing to bring him back the curse boiled him inside out." Harry paused to catch his breath and looked at Draco and frowned. "I'm sorry." He then directed his attention back to Hagrid. "The surviving giants he tortured the lot demanding your name. They refused him every time. They said that no giant would ever work with him for anything just as no Veela would. That this would be remembered for generations." Harry returned to his tea cup to allow everything he had just said to sink in.
"I'm tired of living this way." Draco said abruptly breaking the silence. "Hiding sneaking worrying about what will happen next. This is not the life for me."
Harry felt a wave of guilt rush over him. He masked it as quickly as he could and sat there fidgeting with his tea cup for a moment. Draco was right. This wasn't the life he was supposed to have. Draco was supposed to have a world of fancy robes and balls and socialite affairs. Instead, Draco was stuck fearing for his life. Because of Harry Potter. Harry sighed and picked up a cookie and nibbled on it. "Sorry... I didn't pick this either."
"Then we stop waiting and we go to the dark lord instead."
"Draco that's suicide" Narcissa hissed slamming her hands on the table. "You'll get yourselves killed."
"Ah she ight dere arry raco not good idea" Hagrid agreed and stood. "I got places ta be." He sensed an argument coming and didn't want to witness it. Dumbledore was still demanding more knowledge about the giants and what exactly happened at the death eater meeting. Hagrid had been dodging him to make sure Harry was ok. Now that the boy was up and about he knew it was time to return to his own duties.
"Thank you Hagrid." Harry said with a slight smile. "I missed you."
"don't make me cry dere now!" Hagrid boomed pulling the boy into a hug. "Will be back soon" Hagrid then left himself out. The other two wizards giving him a quiet good bye.
"I'm not going to sit around in hiding for the rest of my life... we will attack him." Draco said triumphantly and nodded to Harry. This wasnt the life the two boys should have.
If voldemort wanted a fight... he would get one... but it would be their terms.
