Chapter 28: Consequences

"Micky," Ginny said softly finally getting up and moving closer to him. He wanted to scoot away; he wanted to disappear entirely. But he couldn't. He couldn't find the strength or the energy to even move. He just turned his head and looked away when she kneeled down next to him. "Micky, please talk to me?"

"Leave me alone," Micky said.

"Please, Micky," Ginny urged resting her hand gently on his arm. He flinched, but she didn't let go. She gripped his arm tightly as if she knew he would try and pull away from her. "You can talk to me."

"Leave me alone," Micky repeated.

"Fine, if you won't talk to me, then you're gonna listen," Ginny said. Micky wanted to tell her to leave him alone again, but he couldn't really find much of a voice. "I know what you're going through. I know how you feel. You hate yourself and you want to just crawl into a deep, dark hole and never come out. I know this, Micky. And I know you weren't sleeping. You can't sleep. Every time you close your eyes you see her. You feel her hands on you. But it doesn't get any better when your eyes are open. It won't get any better if you keep it bottled up."

"You don't understand," Micky said softly not wanting to discuss any of it and wanting her to just stop talking.

"Yes, I do," Ginny said. "I understand exactly. Or did you forget what Sebastian did to me?"

"Of course not," Micky sighed. He didn't want to explain; he didn't want to talk. He just wanted to be left alone. Though, admittedly, the distraction was a small reprieve. He couldn't feel Abby touching him; he couldn't hear her or see her. It was just him and Ginny. "But this is different."

"No, it's not," Ginny answered. "It's exactly the same thing. Sebastian made me do things for him. Things I didn't want to do. For years. And he threatened my best friend. If I didn't do what he wanted me to, he'd hurt Valerie. I couldn't let that happen. Just like you can't let Abby hurt any of us. Abby is leaving you with no more choice than Sebastian left me."

"It's more than that," Micky sighed.

"I'm gonna tell you something that I've only told one other person in the world," Ginny said softly. "Sebastian had me convinced that I liked what he was doing to me. He kept telling me that if I didn't like it, if I didn't want it, I wouldn't...I wouldn't orgasm. But I did. Almost every time." Micky turned his head and stared at her. She had tears in her eyes and she was staring at her hand still placed over his arm.

"Why didn't you tell me?" Micky asked.

"The only person I told was Valerie," Ginny answered looking up to meet his gaze. "And it's not because I didn't trust you. It's because I really didn't want you to know. Valerie has been trying to get me to realize that I didn't like it. That it was just my body's physical reaction, but I didn't want to listen. I don't know why. But I understand now. I guess I always did, but I couldn't let go of the blame I'd been putting on myself. I couldn't accept that none of what happened was my fault. I was ashamed of it."

"You shouldn't be," Micky said without realizing what he was saying.

"So neither should you," Ginny said. Micky stopped for a moment. It was like someone smacked him in the head and all his thoughts ran wild. "Micky, I know it's hard, but you can't let these thoughts get the best of you. I know what you're feeling and thinking. I've been there. I didn't tell you what really happened because I...I thought...you wouldn't love me."

"That's ridiculous," Micky said.

"Exactly," Ginny said. "I know that now. I hate that it took something like this to make me realize that I didn't deserve what happened and that it wasn't my fault. But I'm gonna tell you that I love you. With all my heart. As corny as it sounds, but I will love you until my dying breath. No matter how much you push me away. Even if you want to break things off. If you never want to see me again. I will always love you because you saved me. You and Valerie were instrumental in saving my life. Yes, Davy and Peter and Mike helped take me away from Sebastian, but you and Valerie saved me in more ways than that. If it weren't for the two of you...I don't know where I'd be. I love you and I always will because of what you both did for me."

"I didn't do anything, though," Micky said.

"Of course you did," Ginny said. "You were there for me. You reminded me what it was like to actually have someone love you. You reminded me how a man is supposed to treat a woman. You gave me hope. Your touch made his go away; it made me feel safe and warm. Truly loved. And you held my hand and pulled me out of that deep, dark hole you wanna crawl into now. I know that you don't want to talk about any of this, but I can't let you stay in that hole alone, Micky. I can't let you suffer alone. It's bad enough I can't do anything to stop her from hurting you, but I sure as hell am not going to let this destroy you. I love you too much for that."

"I'm not gonna leave you, Ginny," Micky said after a few moments. He still found it hard to speak, but had to reassure her that he wasn't going to leave her. And her words touched him unexpectedly. He hadn't wanted to really even listen to her, but her words warmed his heart. She had been through what he had. She knew what he was feeling and thinking. He had been afraid she would be ashamed of him and leave him, but he looked down at her hand still gripping his arm and smiled a little. "If you'll still have me, I won't leave you. I just...I need some time."

"I know," Ginny said. "Take all the time you need. And I'm not going anywhere. She can't tear us apart. I'm here for you always. No matter what."

"I don't know what to do," Micky said softly as he pulled her into his arms. "I...she promised me...she swore she'd leave them alone if I did what she wanted…she lied."

"I know," Ginny said wrapping her arms around him.

"She is going to kidnap them," Micky said. "If she doesn't kill them. That's why she took Mike. I don't know what to do. She lied. She's still going to hurt you no matter what I do."

"You do what your heart tells you," Ginny said. "Whatever you decide to do, we'll support you. You know we will. I love you."

"I love you, too," Micky said pulling her tight to him. Feeling the warmth of her body pressed against his really did make him feel safe. He knew this wasn't over. Abby was just going to come back and hurt him again. And he knew she'd be back with his friends. But he'd gladly take this reprieve. Even if it only lasted a few hours.

Peter lay in bed staring at the ceiling of his room unable to sleep. He and Davy had finally convinced Valerie to try and get some sleep about 2 hours ago, but now he found himself wide awake. He couldn't stop thinking about what might be happening to Mike, Micky and Ginny as he lie in bed. Or what might happen to him, Davy and Valerie and even Sebastian. He wasn't sure if he could live with himself if Sebastian went free after what he'd done to Ginny. He knew it wasn't his fault; he couldn't have known what would happen, but he still knew what they'd done was wrong.

"Peter?" Davy asked suddenly. "You awake?"

"Yeah," Peter answered sitting up to look at Davy who had also sat up on the edge of his bed to look at Peter. "Couldn't sleep either?"

"Not really," Davy answered. "Do you think we did the right thing?"

"I don't really know, Davy," Peter sighed. "We couldn't have known the extent of the consequences of our actions, but we did know what we were doing was wrong."

"Not that," Davy said. "Telling the cops. What if we really screwed up and Sebastian goes free? Maybe we should have kept that to ourselves."

"There wasn't anything more we could do on our own," Peter said. "And we were wrong to do anything we did. It could really hurt Micky and Mike and Ginny. The cops can help better than we can."

"I feel so useless," Davy muttered.

"I know; so do I," Peter admitted. "But I have faith that everything is going to work out. I have faith that everything is going to be ok."

"How can you say that?" Davy asked. "You saw those pictures. I don't even wanna think about what she wants to do with Micky."

"I can't bear the alternative," Peter admitted. Before he could really finish his thought, he heard a loud crash from downstairs that made him jump.

"What the…" Davy trailed off staring at the door.

"I don't know," Peter said climbing out of bed. He was scared like Davy who seemed glued to his bed, but knew he had to figure it out. Maybe Valerie just got up and accidentally dropped something. When Peter reached to open the door, Davy jumped out of the bed and clung to Peter's nightshirt. When Peter opened the door, his heart stopped at the scene on the other side. Mike was kneeling on the ground with his hands tied behind his back and a gag in his mouth. A woman, no older than them, with dirty blonde curly hair was pressing a gun into Mike's head. A glass lay at her feet shattered. She must have broken it to get their attention.

"Mike!" Davy exclaimed.

"Shut up," the woman said before Peter or Davy could say anything else. Peter glanced up toward Mike's room hoping that Valerie wouldn't come out, but his hopes were dashed when the door was yanked open. "So nice of you to join us, princess. Come downstairs with your friends. If any of you screams or tries to run away or fight, I'll shoot Mike over here. I've already shot him once." Mike's face looked strained, like he was trying so hard not to cry. Peter's eyes saw the bloodstain on Mike's shirtsleeve and wondered why he hadn't seen that first. He hoped Mike wasn't too badly hurt and he tried to think of ways to help Mike, but realized quickly he couldn't. All he could do was whatever this woman whom he presumed to be Abby told him to.

"Please don't hurt him," Davy said.

"I really don't want to," Abby answered. "So don't give me a reason to."

"Ok, we're gonna behave," Peter said as Valerie descended the stairs. "You can put the gun away."

"Not really that easy, sweetie," Abby said. The smile on her face sent chills down Peter's spine. Valerie reached the bottom step and Abby turned slightly to look at her. "Come here, princess."

"Don't call me that," Valerie said trying not to snap.

"I'll call you whatever I like, princess," Abby sneered. "Get your ass over here. Unless you wanna explain how your boyfriend ended up dead on the living room floor." Valerie paused for only a moment, exchanging a look with Mike. Peter could see the look of desperation on his face and knew just what he was thinking. If he could talk, he'd be telling Valerie not to argue and just do what Abby said. Peter placed a hand on Valerie's shoulder for a brief moment as she passed him trying to offer some support for her.

"Abby, I presume?" Valerie said standing in front of Abby.

"You wouldn't know that if you'd been a good girl and kept your nose out of my business," Abby sneered. "How did you figure me out? Mike didn't even remember me."

"I'm smart," Valerie said. "So what happens now? You gonna kill us?"

"No," Abby said. "I'd intended to, but I promised Micky I wouldn't. Now, be a good little girl and put these on your friends." Abby handed Valerie two sets of handcuffs and flashed another sickening smile her way.

"And if I refuse, you'll shoot Mike?" Valerie seethed.

"You're pretty and smart," Abby snapped. "Look at him; I've already shot him once. And I don't miss. Do I, Mike?" Mike glared at Abby dangerously. Peter had never seen Mike give a look that deadly before.

"Valerie, just do it," Peter said. "It's ok." Davy walked up and put his wrists out for Valerie. Again she hesitated, but eventually decided fighting wasn't worth Mike's life. None of them had any doubts that she'd shoot Mike and none of them wanted to risk it. And they each knew that if she was going to kill them, she'd have done it. They could handle being kidnapped if it meant keeping Mike from getting hurt. So they let Valerie cuff their wrists behind their backs. When she'd finished, Abby ordered Valerie to turn around so she could be handcuffed too. Valerie did as she was told, but not without shooting Abby a look that could make any warrior throw down his sword and run in terror.

When the three of them were secured, Abby shoved Mike ordering him to his feet before ordering them all out of the house into a van. Peter wasn't sure where they were going or what they were in store for, but did what he had to do to keep Mike from being shot again. As bad as it sounded, he was actually grateful to see Mike again. And he was hoping to see Micky and Ginny again soon, too. Though he wished it was under better circumstances.
