"No more fooling around Gavin," The Professor said as she sat in her chair, there were two mugs of tea between them, and a pile of paperwork. "You have potential, however if you want to throw that all away, I will sit by and watch you do exactly that. If you make that bit of effort, I'll be there fighting your corner. I know the divorce hit you hard, but failing yourself isn't going to help."
"Alright," The boy said finally, looking slightly resigned to his fate. The professor smiled at him. "Thanks Professor Wood."
He got up and left the room, and the professor leaned back in her chair, sighing as she did so. She pushed back her blonde hair and lifted her tea to her lips, she'd just taken a sip when the door opened again.
"Mum, can you pick up some treats for Ari, I'm running low?" A tall, willowy brunette girl asked her with a smile on her face. The Professor turned to her daughter and nodded her head. "Thanks, see ya later mum, can you tell dad I saw his retirement statement in the paper, ain't he all old and stuff!"
Laughing the professor nodded her head, her daughter giggled before leaving the room in a hurry, leaving the Professor in silence. She looked around her room, there was an image of her when she first joined the staff at Hogwarts "Carina Malfoy, Pastoral care."
It had been a long time since she was recognised as Carina Malfoy. After dating for over four years, she had married Oliver Wood, her now loving and attentive husband. Two years later she had conceived a set of beautiful twins. Her children Benjamin and Lucy. Lucy her daughter was much like her in appearance, accept for the brown hair, Ben was more like his father. They were sixteen now, and in their sixth year at Hogwarts, it had been a hard thing to send them to Hogwarts, an experience she had been denied as a child. The feelings of resent did not last long, not when she was so openly allowed to be a part of that experience. And it did not hurt that she worked there, and had for quite a while.
Now at, forty-six years old, the scars that came from abandonment had subsided, she never managed to establish contact with her father, he had died ten years previous. Her mother however, she visited occasionally to see her grandchildren. They spoke kindly to each other, but both knew that the relationship would never be there. Draco had tried hard for there to be something, but it hadn't worked.
As for Draco, He had married Ginny by the age of twenty five, Ginny had discovered she was pregnant, but refused to Marry him while carrying – much to his chagrin. Alexis, their eldest Daughter had finished school now, and was working in Slugs & Jiggers Apothecary, like her father she had a talent for potion making. Their son, and middle child, Nicholas was a seventh year at Hogwarts, a Ravenclaw, as was their youngest sister, Sophia, a fourth year. Alexis had taken her father's route and been a Slytherin.
In fact all her friends were now married off. Hermione had married Rufus, the same year that Draco and Ginny got married; they had one son named William, who was in the same year as Nicholas.
Ron had after a couple years of persuasion gotten Tamsin to agree to date him, she was the chaser for Appleby Arrows, his keeper position for the Canons meant that in the week before a match they lived separately as sometimes competitiveness was an issue, the rest of the year they were deeply in love. They had four children together. Louise a seventh year, Georgina a sixth year, and Thomas and Jonathon, both fifth years. Georgina was a Hufflepuff like her mother, her siblings Gryffindor's.
Harry raised Teddy for two years on his own, before accidentally getting his regular healer pregnant, after dating for a few months after the birth of James, they got married, Susan Potter, quick fell pregnant with Sirius then finally Lily. James and Sirius were working, both in the quidditch industry, Lily was a sixth year. Their 'brother' Teddy was working in the ministry to change the rules around werewolves, a legacy to his father.
And they were all her family. Who chose to accept her, muggle, squib or witch. Carina was not their dirty little secret; she was their sister, friend, aunt, sister-in-law, wife, mother.
