Chapter Twenty-Eight

;
=Fifteen years ago=
A woman sighed as she held the baby who had just fell asleep. "finally" she gave another sigh as she walked over to the crib and gently sat the child down. The child couldn't have been over two years old and kept on crying no matter what she did.
"Love." The woman turned around to see a man with dark purple hair who was looking at her with worry.
She flashed him a fake smile, and made her way to him, "He just fell asleep. He seems a little restless while you were gone."
The man smirked, taking the woman's hand into his and giving it a kiss, "Then let's move to the other room and let the little one sleep."
The woman nodded and glanced back at the crib before moving out the door, and flipping the lights out as she followed the man out and into the hallway.
The two silently made their way down to the kitchen. The woman sat down at the table as the man moved to the stove and made tea.
The woman didn't say anything as he did so. It was only when the tea was done did the man speak.
"I know you are wanting to say something to me." The man said, a small frown on his face as he put the tea he made on the table.
The woman didn't say anything as she looked at the man she loved and had a child with. She loved him, but if she stayed with him...if she stayed with him she lost her family, her name and everything that came with it.
Biting her lip she closed her eyes, "I got a call from my mother and father earlier today."
The man froze and put down his tea, eyes going cold at the mention of the woman's family. They never gotten along, they were apart of different social circles.
"What did they want..."The scowl on his face deepened as he thought of the woman's side of the family, "...did she want you to leave again...that I wasn't worth your time. That your son wasn't worth your time..."
The woman gripped the teacup harder, "I...I don't think this is going to work out anymore...I am following what my parents want and I am going to marry who they have chosen."
Silence engulfed the room, the room became thick with tension until he finally spoke in a deathly cold voice. A voice he never spoke to the woman in before.
"What about our son? What am I to say to him when he asks where his mother is?" The man gave her a pained look, trying to understand why she was doing this. Why couldn't she try to be happy just the three of them.
Money didn't matter, and it never did to him...but it seemed it mattered to her more than he ever thought.
"Are you going to answer!" His emotions were getting the better of him and now he was standing and yelling at the woman.
"I'm sorry." was whispered.
"You're sorry..." the man almost cried at the pitiful excuse, "sorry isn't going to help any. Sorry isn't going to make our son wonder why you abandoned him...abandoned me. Sorry won't fix those feelings!"
The woman hug her head and held back her tears, but didn't say anything as he continued to yell...finally the yelling stopped as the man just stood there.
"Sleep in the guest room...and be out be tomorrow. I don't know you anymore. I will have custody papers sent to your parents house." The man walked away not wanting to talk to her anymore.
The woman didn't know how long she sat there, but it was dark out when she finally got out of the kitchen chair and grabbed the phone. She sat there for awhile before she sighed and sat the phone in front of her.
The woman took a deep breath as she looked at the phone before taking the phone in her hands again. . She had made her choice. Taking a deep breath she dialed the number and waited until a woman answered on the other line.
"I'll do it...I'll marry him...but" She paused biting her lip as she took a deep breath, "I want one year to do some traveling and get that out of my system before I marry him."
The woman on the other line gave a hum, "That can be arranged...you are doing the right thing. Your father will be proud of the decision you have made. Call in a few days and we will set up all the details." The line went dead after that leaving the woman with silent tears as she let her hand slide down and fall limp by her side, phone still in hand. Tears continued to fall down her face as she took her free and placed it on her stomach.
"I hope it was the right thing..." tear filled eyes looked at her stomach and knew that the months to come would be a long one now that she would be on her own.
