I'd like to start off with a shoutout for an OC submission that I forgot to do (which seems to be a habit of mine) all the way back in Chapter 4. Thanks to johtoblue for creating Akito. Now that that's out of the way, I'd like to thank everyone that's been reading these past few weeks, because the views I've been getting (at least for me) are astronomical. The reviews have been lacking lately, with the exception of tepigsfire758, so please drop a review!
This chapter, as stated in the last update, will be about Owen and the others arriving in Driftveil City! The time spent in Driftveil will be pretty important, so make sure to not skip over the next five chapters. Now, let's get going!

"Are we almost there?" Rebecca whined. After waking up six hours ago, she and the others had been walking to Driftveil ever since. Owen and Snivy both shrugged and continued leading the trip while everyone else lagged behind. "Owen, can we please stop? I'm hungry," Rebecca pleaded. Her Oshawott, who had been called out to spray people with water to help cool them down, held his growling stomach while slouching over.
"No one eats until we get there!" Owen shouted. Everyone hung their heads in disappointment until they heard Owen squeal with glee, which gave them hope of eating. "There it is! Driftveil City!" Owen shrieked before bolting down the bridge while Snivy held onto his shirt for dear life.
"How does he run that fast?" CJ asked aloud. Neither Fate or Rebecca knew the answer, so they shrugged and continued walking in silence. After what seemed to be another hour, Fate, CJ, and Rebecca arrived at the Driftveil City Pokemon Center. Owen and Snivy were sitting outside on the steps, but Owen stood up once his three traveling companions walked past him.
"It's about time," Owen muttered. The girls shot him nasty looks, but Owen didn't pay attention. "So what are we gonna do today?" Owen quizzed while running his hand through his hair. The answer was a collective groan, which was a major letdown to Owen. "Come on! I can't be the only one that wants to do something," Owen proclaimed.
"I don't have another contest coming up for the next two weeks, and CJ and Rebecca aren't competing in anything. So, yes you are," Fate snapped. Owen frowned and crossed his arms like a child. Snivy mimicked her trainer, lightening the mood. "Look, I just want to get some sleep."
"That's not the kind of attitude I'd expect from you, Fate." Everyone turned to the voice that sounded vaguely familiar, and Owen groaned once he saw who it was. Brooklyn strolled over to the four trainers while shaking her head at Fate's statement. "You should be training for that contest, Fate. After all, I'm going to be in it."
"I'll do it later. I woke up at six in the morning and had to walk all the way here," Fate replied. Brooklyn shook her head again, and so did Owen. The two fourteen year olds looked at one another in disgust before Owen walked away.
"You guys can do whatever you want. I'm going to train for my next gym battle," Owen announced before walking towards the back of the Pokemon Center. Once he arrived, Owen released all of his Pokemon from their Pokeballs while Snivy hopped off his shoulder.
Tranquill, Heatmor, Krokorok, Muk, and Prinplup all looked at one another before turning their attention to Owen.
"Listen up, everyone. We've got another gym battle coming up in the next few days, and I want to be as prepared as possible. We're going to be battling ground types," Owen said, which grabbed Krokorok's attention, "so I'm confident we can win."
"I doubt it," Brooklyn opined as she walked out of the Pokemon Center with the other three trainers. "I bet you'll lose."
Before Owen could say anything, Krokorok stepped forward and growled at her intimidatingly. Brooklyn stepped away from the battlefield, but a strange blue Pokemon next to her growled back at Krokorok. Its appearance was that of a large otter with menacing eyes and a horn made up of conch shells on its forehead. There were also scalchops on its front arms along with a funny looking white mustache.
"Samurott, the Formidable Pokemon, and the evolved form of Dewott. One swing of the sword incorporated in its armor can fell an opponent. A simple glare from one of them quiets everybody."
Owen looked up from his Pokedex and then over at Krokorok. The other five Pokemon were completely silent, but Krokorok continued growling at the fully evolved starter. The two Pokemon began to slowly make their way towards each other.
"Samurott, stop. That thing isn't worth our time," Brooklyn told her starter, which only made Krokorok angrier. The blue Pokemon reluctantly obeyed his trainer.
"What's that supposed to mean?" Owen interrogated aggressively while walking to Krokorok's side. Owen's other Pokemon looked just as offended as their trainer, giving off a sense of unity.
"You and that Krokorok wouldn't stand a chance against us." Fate and CJ exchanged worried looks after seeing Owen bite his bottom lip. His closed fists were shaking violently, and he began to breathe deeply.
"Why don't you put your money where your mouth is? Let's battle!" Owen shouted. Brooklyn scowled at Owen and made her way to the other end of the battlefield. Her Samurott made his way to the middle of the battlefield and glared at Krokorok. Owen remained silent and walked into his trainer box while the five Pokemon that weren't battling sat next to him.
"I guess I'll be the ref," Rebecca said before walking over to the referee podium. "This battle will be between Krokorok and Samurott. Girl I've never met before, you have the first move," Rebecca announced after yawning. Fate and CJ sat down at one of the tables by the battlefield and watched intently.
"Krokorok, use Bulldoze!" Owen commanded. Surprisingly, Krokorok did as he was told. The sand crocodile slammed his fists on the ground, causing a mini tremor. Suddenly, a white crescent of energy zipped across the ground and flew over to Samurott. The water type attempted to dodge the attack, but he wasn't quick enough. Samurott landed on his back, but got back up in the blink of an eye before roaring at Krokorok.
"Samurott, knock that smirk off his face with Aqua Jet!" Brooklyn yelled. Samurott sprinted towards Krokorok before jumping in the air. As soon as he did so, Samurott's body was enveloped in water and he zipped over towards Krokorok. Owen watched as the ground and dark type was clobbered by the super effective attack, and he began to roll backwards.
"Pop off the ground and get in close!" Owen shouted. While still rolling, Krokorok launched himself up by pushing off the ground with his hands, wowing Owen's five other Pokemon. He then darted over towards Samurott and waited for Owen's next order. After Samurott landed on the ground and saw Krokorok charging towards him, Brooklyn shook her head at Owen's attack before countering.
"Swat Krokorok away with Razor Shell!" Samurott took the two scalchops off his arms and a trail of blue energy appeared behind the shells. Once Krokorok was close enough, Samurott swung at his arrogant opponent.
"Duck and use Dragon Claw!" Krokorok dropped to the ground just before Samurott could land the super effective attack, and he began to laugh. Samurott looked down and watched Krokorok's glowing blue claws slash him in the chest. The powerful dragon type attack sent Samurott flying and he landed behind Brooklyn.
"Dang! Krokorok's really strong," CJ said to Fate. "He's a bit of head case, but he's really strong." As CJ said that, Krokorok began to dance because he thought he had won the battle. Much to his surprise, Samurott made his way back to the battlefield before spitting on the ground. Taking offense to the action, Krokorok cracked his neck and fingers before growling at his water type foe.
"He may be strong, but it doesn't look like any of the other Pokemon like him," Fate replied while noticing Heatmor rolling his eyes at Krokorok's obnoxious actions. Tranquill shook her head in disgust while Snivy and Prinplup were scowling. Muk, meanwhile, was sitting their with his usual stupid grin plastered on his face.
"Samurott, let's end this here. Use Megahorn!" Brooklyn shrieked while pointing at Krokorok. Samurott let out a fierce roar before charging towards Krokorok. His horn began to glow bright green, and a trail of white energy followed Samurott's body. Owen and Krokorok both remained silent, but they somehow seemed to be on the same page. Just as Samurott threw his horn forward, Owen shouted to Krokorok.
"Catch it with Bite!" Moving his feet and body at a blinding speed, Krokorok managed to sidestep away from the super effective attack. Then his jaws clamped down on Samurott's horn, stopping the attack completely. Brooklyn watched in awe as Krokorok lifted Samurott into the air before spinning as fast as he could.
"Samurott, use Water Pulse to get away!"
"Slam him against the ground!" Owen screamed. Before Samurott could unleash the water type attack, Krokorok threw his head down and slammed Samurott against the ground so hard a thunderous crack echoed through the air. Everyone remained silent as Rebecca walked over to Samurott and saw that he was out cold. The youngest of the trainers raised her hands in the air to signal the battle was over.
"Samurott is unable to battle. Owen and Krokorok are the winners," Rebecca announced robotically.
"Way to go, Krokorok!" Owen cheered as he ran over to the victorious Pokemon and hugged him. Krokorok let out a low growl so Owen immediately let go of his Pokemon, while Brooklyn withdrew her Samurott without saying a word.
"How did that just happen?" Fate asked CJ. The older teen shrugged his shoulders and continued staring at Krokorok in awe. Leaf, Wotter, and Excalibur, who had all watched the battle, did the same.
"You got lucky," Brooklyn told Owen as she stood up and began walking his way.
"Seriously?" Owen inquired. "You had a type advantage, and Samurott was a higher level. That was no fluke," Owen shot back. All of the other Pokemon nodded in agreement, albeit reluctantly. Brooklyn scowled at Owen's response. She knew he was right, but admitting that he had won was something Brooklyn couldn't do.
"Oh my god! There's no way it's you!" a masculine voice cried. Owen turned and saw an older boy walking his way. "I can't believe I'm finally getting to meet Fate Flores!" Owen hung his head sadly, but looked back up at the kid he had never met. He looked to be about fifteen, and had a pretty boy look. He had a cleft chin, tan skin, and wavy blonde hair that went down to his shoulders. He wore a yellow shirt with a Pokeball on it, a pair of brown cargo shorts, and a pair of black sneakers.
"I'm sorry, but who are you?" Fate asked as politely as she could. The older teen stopped walking her way and face palmed in embarrassment, which creeped Owen and Brooklyn out.
"My name is JT. I saw your performances in the Castelia City and Nimbasa City Contests, and they were just incredible! I'm your biggest fan!" JT proclaimed, which made Fate blush.
"This guy is weirdo," Brooklyn whispered to Owen.
"Yeah. There's something about him I don't like," he replied.
"Thanks. I'm surprised I even have fans," Fate replied humbly as JT resumed walking towards her. "Are you from around here?"
"Yeah. I actually live just down the block, but I came over here to heal my Pokemon," JT replied. He looked around at the five trainers he wasn't familiar with, but he paid close attention to CJ. "Is this your boyfriend? I'm so sorry if I'm intruding," JT asked Fate nervously.
"Oh, CJ? No no no no no. We're just friends and we're traveling together with those two," Fate answered, again blushing, while pointing at Owen and Rebecca. "That's Owen, and that's Rebecca."
"Nice to meet you two," JT said while bowing.
Owen and Brooklyn eyed the stranger wearily, but Owen waved to JT. Rebecca waved with a smile, leaving Brooklyn as the only person JT had yet to introduce himself to, which JT realized. He began walking towards the blonde, which made her feel uneasy. Slowly and subtly, she moved closer to Owen in an attempt to keep JT away.
"It's a pleasure to meet you," he said while extending a hand. "Has anyone told you how beautiful you are?" he asked with a genuine smile.
"Yes, actually," she shot back while placing Owen's arm around her shoulder, which surprised everyone except JT. "I'm Brooklyn." JT laughed at her response before turning away to walk back over to Fate. What no one realized was the look he shot at Owen and Brooklyn, who he didn't seem to take kindly to.
"Would you mind if I got your autograph?" JT asked Fate. The girl continued blushing, but nodded. JT handed Fate a plastic Pokeball, and she placed her signature on the top half. "You don't know how much this means to me. Thank you so much!" JT shrieked. "And if you're ever interested, feel free to stop by my house," he whispered to Fate. CJ overheard the inappropriate comment and immediately stood up from his seat.
"You might want to leave," he suggested. Leaf, Wotter, and Excalibur sensed the defensive tone behind their trainer's voice, so they stood up and stayed by his side. JT looked down at the three Pokemon and then back up at CJ angrily, but Fate was too blind to see.
"I'm sorry, but she said she's not your girlfriend. So you might want to back off," JT shot back. CJ glared at the boy his age and listened to him talk to Fate again. "As I was saying, maybe you'd want to swing by."
"Leave," CJ ordered. JT looked back up at the Kanto native and began towards him. JT bumped into CJ and their faces were only an inch away from each other, which made everyone watching feel like a fight was going to break out.
"How about this: If I win, you can stop telling me to leave her alone. If you win, I'll leave," JT proposed. CJ looked over at Fate, who was gazing at JT as if she was in love.
"Fine," CJ replied. "Leaf, let's get this over with.," CJ told his strongest Pokemon coldly. Leaf nodded and followed his trainer onto the battlefield. Owen, Brooklyn, and Rebecca scurried off the battlefield along with Owen's Pokemon before turning their attention to the battle that was about to begin.
"Hydreigon, go!" CJ and Leaf watched as a three headed dragon appeared from the Pokeball JT had thrown, and it let out an ear piercing roar. On its abdomen were two overall-like fuchsia stripes. Its feet appear lacked claws, but they were gigantic. Its tail also featured a fuchsia stripe with a black tuft on the end of it. Finally, it had six, thin black wings on its backs, each wing ending in two points.
"This isn't good," Brooklyn told Owen and Fate worriedly.
"Why is that? Leaf is CJ's first Pokemon," Owen responded. Brooklyn shook her head, which made Owen look back at the battlefield curiously.
"Hydreigon is the strongest Pokemon in Unova that isn't a legendary. Only the strongest trainers have them because they refuse to listen to trainers that they don't deem worthy."
"This battle will be between Leaf and Hydreigon! CJ, you get the first move!" Rebecca shouted energetically.
"Leaf, use Razor Leaf!" CJ commanded. Leaf nodded before firing a series of sharp leaves from the bulb on his back. Despite the attack striking the Hydreigon directly, it appeared to do little damage. JT and his Hydreigon let out a sigh of disappointment while looking at Leaf and CJ, who didn't pay attention to the looks.
"USe Dragon Pulse, Hydreigon!" JT ordered. The ferocious three headed dragon began charging a bright blue energy in all three of their mouths before unleashing three stunning beams of bright light. Leaf attempted to dodge the wicked attacks, but he had nowhere to go. The unevolved Kanto starter was blown back into his trainer, but he got back on his feet.
"Run towards Hydreigon and use Vine Whip to close those two mouths shut!" CJ yelled while pointing at the two smaller heads on Hydreigon's arms. Leaf bolted towards the pseudo legendary and wrapped two vines around the smaller heads. Hydreigon looked down at his tiny opponent with an amused smirk before he started to fly straight into the air.
"Once you reach top speed make a sharp descent!" JT shouted. Hydreigon began flying so fast that trails of white light flew off his body. Leaf dangled behind the dragon and dark type, but refused to let go of his powerful enemy. Suddenly, Hydreigon shot straight down, which made Leaf lose his grip. The Bulbasaur looked down worriedly and his eyes shot wide open when he saw that he was a few hundred feet in the air.
"Leaf, use Solarbeam!" CJ ordered after noticing the sun was shining directly on Leaf's back. The grass and poison type somehow heard his trainer and began charging the destructive grass type attack. JT and his Hydreigon looked at one another before shaking their heads at CJ's attack.
"Charge up a Hyper Voice and end this battle," JT muttered. The large blue dragon began charging the devastating normal type attack while Leaf continued to fall and charge his Solarbeam attack. Owen looked on nervously, hoping CJ would be able to win the battle with his next attack. Brooklyn began shaking her head, already knowing what was going to happen while Fate looked back and forth at JT and CJ.
"Fire!" CJ roared. Everyone looked up at Leaf and watched as he unleashed a blinding ray of white light. JT waited for the attack to close in on Hydreigon for unknown reasons, but he spoke up as soon as he saw how close Solarbeam was.
"Now!" As Leaf continued falling he was unable to see the rays of sound smash through his strongest attack. Owen, Fate, and Brooklyn all gasped when Leaf was hit by the attack and his body went limp instantly. After flying back into the air, he eventually started free falling. CJ ran forwards and camped underneath his fainted Pokemon and caught Leaf in his arms.
"Leaf is unable to battle! JT and Hydreigon are the winners!" Rebecca announced after seeing Leaf's limp body.
JT withdrew his absurdly powerful Pokemon after patting it on the back, and he walked over to the table of fourteen year olds. He smiled at Fate and didn't say a word to her, but he turned his attention to Owen and Brooklyn.
"I look forward to seeing you around," JT told Brooklyn while smiling at her. The pretty blonde frowned at the boy she had just met, making him laugh. "Don't play hard to get, girl. It's a shame to see someone as pretty as you not smile."
"Leave her alone," Owen told the older teen. Both Fate and Brooklyn turned in shock while looking at Owen. JT looked over at the powerful trainer while still maintaining a smile.
"Don't worry, I'm not trying to steal your girl. I have a feeling we'll battle sometime, and I can't wait for that to happen," JT told Owen. He then looked at all six of Owen's Pokemon before walking away. CJ and Rebecca sat down at the table while watching JT until he left.
"I'm sorry I couldn't win, Fate," CJ told the younger girl.
"It's fine. I doubt he would actually attack us or anything, though. You really didn't have to battle him," Fate told CJ. The older boy nodded before sitting down dejectedly.
~~~ (Just a reminder, this sign to the left of the parentheses is the scene shifting, and not a time skip)
"So he's here in Driftveil?" the blonde from the Castelia City sewers asked her brunette partner. The brown haired woman nodded frantically, causing the blonde to smile. "Good. We'll attack tonight."
Wow, five chapters in two days. I might be able to push another out, but it'll most likely be around midnight or 1:00am. So, the group met JT, who seems like a jerk. Owen beat Brooklyn in a battle, and JT crushed CJ. Also, a hint for the next chapter was dropped in the last few lines, and look at the title of this chapter closely! Till next time, peace out.
1) What do you think the title is predicting?
2) How do you feel about JT? Do you like or hate him?
Next Chapter: Blackout
