It was a small gathering, no more than ten people stood in the large clearing on that warm, but windy Harvestmere afternoon. Torches had been set into stake pounded into the ground, lit and set about ten feet apart. Everyone stood on either side of the torches leaving the middle open.

Sebastian stood between the torches silently, he was a little fidgety from nervousness. Anders was sullen near the back of the group. The others swelled with either pride or joy. Even Carver showed up standing opposite of Anders, equally sullen.

Everyone turned when they came into view. It was like a scene out of an epic story. It all looked so surreal. The filmy texture of her veil made her seem like a ghost and the sunlight glittering all the crystals in her jewelry made her alike to a faerie creature. Unlike her Fenris was dressed in dark colors, a deep green surcoat over a black tunic and belted by a gray sash.

Unlike most brides and grooms they were not smiling, but their faces solemn and content. Both of them took this moment very seriously because it would define the rest of their lives. When they reached the torches they turned and face one another. Taking a single step toward each other they stood touching breast to breast and their foreheads resting against each others.

It was then Sebastian stepped forward, "Let us begin." Pulled from his pocket a length of white cord "raise your hands."

Together they raised and clasped their hands together in the space left open between their bodies. Loosely he tied the cord around their hands binding them together.

"This cord binds these two under the Maker, eternally, from this day forward until eternity." He took a deep breath "Speak now your vows before the Maker."

"I vow to you the first cut of my meat, the first sip of my wine, from this day on it shall be only your name I cry out in the night and into your eyes that I smile each morning; I shall be a shield for your back as you are for mine, no shall a grievous word be spoken about us, for our marriage is sacred between us and no stranger shall hear my grievance. Above and beyond this, I will cherish and honor you through this life and into the next. " taking a breath she opened her eyes as she spoke the next part.

"You cannot possess me for I belong to myself But while we both wish it, I give you that which is mine to give. You cannot command me for I am a free person But I shall serve you in those ways you require And the honeycomb will taste sweeter coming from my hand."

It was different hearing them spoken than reading them. He had not expected it to effect him this deeply. He first attempt to speak was cut off when his voice cracked. Swallowing the lump that rose in his throat he tried again only to have it fail again. He may have panicked if not for her squeezing his hands. Closing his eyes tightly he took a few deep breaths.

" he repeated trying not to let his voice falter.

"You cannot possess me for I belong to myself But while we both wish it, I give you that which is mine to give. You cannot command me for I am a free person But I shall serve you in those ways you require And the honeycomb will taste sweeter coming from my hand."

Sebastian cleared his throat. Unaware he could be so moved by a wedding as he was now. "Here before friends, family, The Maker and his Bride. We see accept their bond. So let it be." He took a breath smiling at them. "On behalf of the Grand Cleric and the Chantry, we pronounce this marriage binding and valid. "

"You did good." She whispered.

He nodded not trusting his voice to work properly. He muttered a thanks to Sebastian for releasing their hands. Sebastian pressed the cord into his hands.

"This is yours."

Fenris took the cord for him slowly. "I have no words to truly express what you have done for me today."

"You are a good man Fenris. You'll do fine." Sebastian said clapping him on the shoulder before turning to start packing up.

They made eye contact once before Carver turned to leave. She watched him go making no move to stop him.

"Still not talking?" Fenris asked stopping beside her.

"No. but sometimes nothing needs to be said. It was enough that he came." She turned to Fenris "Shall we return?"

"Let's go home." He said pulling her close and kissing her forehead.
