Ender's POV

Israphel, as he was now apparently called, advanced towards me slowly, his eyes still showing the guilt and unhappiness he held within himself for having to do this.

"You still have the option to stop this" I said, taking a few more steps back, stopping when I heard Notchie moving behind me. As much as I did not want to hurt one who I considered to be a friend up until now, it was far more important to protect Notchie from any harm.

"No I don't" hissed Israphel,"I lost that chance long ago. Now the sand calls to me, urging me to lay waste to the cities, to sent them crashing down into bits indistinguishable from the sand on which they were built." His eyes flickered from their usual color to a hazy gray-red hue as he spoke, and I resisted the urge to retreat further. If I was ever to have a chance of defeating this creature who stood before me, there could be no retreat.

*Notchie can help you* I heard Tanya say, her voice as faint as a whisper on the breeze. Even through the thin thread of contact she had with me, I could feel the immense pain she was in. Zeren's attacks had done more damage than I had guessed.

How? I quickly sent, trying to keep my sending brief so Tanya would not use energy she could not spare in its reply/

*Starlords... are close match.. to chaos... in power* she breathed before the connection between us suddenly snapped. Pushing aside the rising horror at what I suspected had just transpired, I tried to think what Tanya could have possibly meant. There was no way that Notchie had power able to combat a chaos lord. He could barely control what magic he had half the time, and it was just as likely to hurt him as it was to get anywhere near the Chaos lords.

"I guess I will just have to do this my way" I muttered, unsheathing my sword and taking a tiny step towards my opponent, really not wanting to do this but knowing there was no other way. Quick as lightning, Israphel had sent an arrow slicing past me. Its brethren quickly followed in a rain of death that took all my skills to avoid. I knew I had to protect Notchie, but at that point it was all I could do to protect myself.

I ducked to let an arrow slide past my head and tripped on an uneven block of stone bricks. A lightning bolt of pain arced through me as an arrow embedded itself into my side. I flailed in pain for a moment before crashing to the ground. The sound of several voices calling my name barely registered as my vision narrowed to almost nothing and pain overwhelmed me. The world around me seemed to fade until I was alone. Years of experience dealing with dangerous enemies melted away until I was a child again, waking up screaming from some nightmare, calling for someone, anyone, to reassure me, to say "it's all right, it was only a dream." But this mess I had gotten into, I couldn't just wake up from that. This was no dream. The darkness surrounded me, and within me I could feel a fragile part of myself under siege by its power. I wanted to wake up, to just open my eyes and see something, anything to replace the terrible emptiness which filled all aspects of my vision. I curled into a ball, wrapping my arms tightly around my legs in a futile effort to keep the darkness at bay.

A light touch on my shoulder caused me to jerk in the direction of its origination, eyes wide for fear of what I might see before me.

"Do not fear child" said Tanya of all people.

"But... How..." I stuttered.

"Since we are both injured so gravely" she said "We can meet in this place we find ourself in, the border of this world and the next."

I looked at her in terror, searching for any hope that she was mistaken. My search provided no relief, indeed it only succeeded in worsening my fears. Tanya still bore the dreadful wounds she had sustained at Zeren's hands, but they were devoid of any blood, revealing the full damage the attacks had done to her body. The palest aura of light hung around her, but dark flashes invaded her aura even as I watched and it's light diminished.

"How do we leave here?" I gasped desperately, the fear of the unknown darkness around me rising to an uncontrollable level.

"We must wait child" said Tanya "There is nothing we can do from this side, so we will just have to hope that your friends can win their fight before it is too late for us."

Notchie's POV

I was so preoccupied with staying out of the way of Israphel's arrows, it took me a moment to realize that Ender no longer stood before me but was lying on the ground, blood pooling where an arrow had torn through her side.

"Ender!" I gasped, hearing Mist and Flare echoing my cry. Now oblivious to the arrows, I darted over to where Ender lay ,determined to help my friend, for she had helped me to escape from that dark place where I had been trapped. A spattering of arrows skittered into the bricks around me, being deflected every which way. Working quickly, I erected a shield over me and my fallen friend. Now that I was closer to her, I could see that she was hardly breathing and a deathly paleness had crept into her face.

"How can this be?" I whispered "One arrow wound should not be able to cause this kind of damage, especially since it hit her side." I felt a prick on my leg an looked down to see an arrow, still covered in Ender's blood. Picking it up, I saw that the tip glistened with a sticky, foul smelling poison I was well acquainted with. It was the poison of silver ichor plants, an extremely rare plant found in select areas of the Aether. Its poison was deadly to crafters, and based on Ender's reaction to it, it was pretty bad for Enderlords too.

When I thought about the way I found the arrow, I realized how lucky it was I had been the one to find it. As a Starlord, I was immune to almost every poison, which was fortunate since I had a habit of poking myself with my own poison darts. If any of the other lords traveling with me had found the arrow the way I did, but sticking themselves with it, well they would have ended up in the same position as Ender or worse. The entirety of the situation suddenly crashed down on me. One of my friends was gravely injured, maybe even dying, and it was at the hand of one she had considered a great friend. I felt anger growing within me, a great power rising along with it.

"How dare you?" I hissed at Israphel "She was your friend and you did this to her? What type of person are you?"

"It was necessary" said Israphel "I had to keep my deal with Sallen, and this is how I must do it."

When he said this, dismissing the atrocious act he had committed like it was nothing, something inside me snapped. A wave of power surged through me, fueled by the overwhelming feeling of rage I felt towards Israphel, towards Zeren, towards chaos kind as a whole.

Mist's POV

I saw Ender fall, and moved to help her before I saw Notchie doing the same. Knowing he was in a far better position to offer her some help, I resigned myself to sending bursts of magic towards Israphel, hoping to distract him so he would make a mistake.

It had been several long minutes of spell throwing without Israphel even seeming to notice, when he and Notchie seemed to be talking. I was too far away to make out what was being said over the sound of arrows still being fired, but whatever it was, it seemed to effect Notchie quite a bit. I felt an aura of magic growing around him, and when he looked up, his eyes were streaked through with rays of golden light. The same could be said of his wings, which scattered rays this way and that from the luminous pattern displayed on their surface.

Suddenly, he jumped up and ran straight through the side of his light shield, causing it to ripple. He charged at Israphel, the arrows fired at him by the surprised lord either bouncing off or being incinerated by the aura of magic surrounding Notchie. Eyes wide in surprise, Israphel backed up from where he had been standing, moving away from the furious Starlord approaching him. He didn't move fast enough though. Notchie hurtled into him knocking him to the ground and sending his bow skittering across the ground to lay at Zeren's feet.

Israphel's POV

The child charged me, sending me tumbling backwards, arrows knocked every which way and my bow dislodged from my grasp, thrown who knows where. I smashed to the ground, my breath leaving me in one huff as the child landed atop me and held me there. How had such a weak, untrained and useless lord managed to get the best of me? I was far stronger than he should have ever become. No, I had not been warned that this child could be such a threat.

Wincing as the glowing aura surrounding him cut into my skin, I rolled back my eyes, searching for any sight of my bow, or for that matter, anything that could be used as a weapon. I spotted my bow, lying a few paces away at the feet of my lord, Zeren.

"I don't suppose you could be bothered to give that to me?" I choked, the Starlord's grip on the base of my throat tightening slightly.

"Oh no" said Zeren, his smile widening "I would never do that. It wouldn't be a proper test then would it?"

I gritted my teeth, cursing Zeren's pride. He would not admit even now that his plan was going quite badly, and if something didn't change, well we were going to be defeated.

"Hey kid" I gasped "Could you maybe let me up? You know, for old times sake."

"Never!" he hissed, gold eyes flashing in anger "You hurt Ender and now you must pay!" Out of the corner of my eye, I saw one of his allies, the girl, Mist, coming towards us.

"I can help you Notchie" she said, swiping my bow from where it lay in front of Zeren, and aiming an arrow at my face. I closed my eyes, knowing what was coming but not wanting to believe it.

"No" said Notchie, turning his gaze on the girl "This one is mine" I felt his hands tighten around my neck, cutting off all air. I wanted to scream, to writhe, to shove him away, but whenever I contacted his aura, deep scars were left in my skin. It was all I could do to lie still while the seconds ticked by, one by one, each one bringing death a step closer.

Faintly, though it could have been loud and my ears were failing me for lack of air, I heard the girl say "Don't do this Notchie. If you kill him, we are no better than they are."

Through the dots swimming before my eyes, I saw the child's expression change, as if he realized what he had been about to do. The tight grip on my throat fell away, as did the weight of the child, and I was left gasping on the ground, knowing I would not be able to fight again for quite some time.

Notchie's POV

I stood slowly, the full realization of what I had almost done coming to me. Mist clearly recognized what I was thinking, and said "There will be time to consider what was done later. Right now we need to focus. We may still be able to help our friends if we hurry."

Looking over to where Ender lay, I knew she was right. Flare had taken up a position between Ender and Tanya, clearly intending to defend them, but I knew as soon as a chaos lord took notice of him, he could be among those who walked death's border.

"I know what I must do" I said to mist.

She nodded "Whatever you think will save them" she said.

I walked towards Zeren, hoping the power I had felt before would stay with me long enough to confront the chaos lord.

"Zeren" I said, staring into his eyes, trying to keep the fear building within me from showing itself. "If you leave now, you may take your lords from this realm without opposition"

"Well since you asked" said Zeren "How could I say no? Anyway, I am done with this realm, far too colorful for my liking" A scream from Notch caused my to whip around, searching for what evil had caused such terror.

"Ah" said Zeren "My new realm is almost ready."

Notch's POV

It happened suddenly, with no warning. One minute I was listening to Notchie confront Zeren, the next a bright line of pain exploded across my torso. Screaming, I instinctively grabbed at a wound which upon inspection, did not actually exist. A mental scream made me realize that o was not feeling my own pain, but rather one of my brother's.

"What have you done to them?" I gasped.

"Oh not much really" said Zeren "I needed a realm. They had a fairly accessible one, so I decided to take it from them.

"Someone help" I heard a mental voice say, one that undeniably belonged to Herobrine "Someone, anyone help me!"

Shadow's POV

Herobrine's cries woke me from a light sleep and threw me into a confused state.

"What can I do?" I asked Illusion "I have no way of reaching him"

Illusion sighed, then said *Ask Aleeta how to break the barrier spell. I suspect Tanya told her before she left. We will have to hope we can be quick enough to help your brother.*

Steve's POV

"Cresilia, some thing is wrong" I said, shaking her awake. She stretched, then glanced at the Aether portal we had been guarding.

"It looks fine" she said.

"No not that" I said "I heard Herobrine call out for help"

She stared at me for a moment before saying "Well if he needs help, you better go. Use the portal in the woods, its the closest."

"Thank you for understanding" I said, placing a light kiss on her forehead.

"Go" she said "I will watch the portal" With that, I raced off into the forest, on my way to help a brother I had only recently remembered having.

A/N:So now we know why it is a really, really bad idea to make a Starlord mad. Anyway, if you guys enjoyed this chapter, please leave a review. Now questions for the characters.

From noobish bob(Guest) to everyone: Imagine you are trapped on small island with the person you JUST HATE the most. Who would that person be and what would you do?

Sallen:Zeren (Shh don't tell), and you don't want to know

Zeren:No idea, too many options

Teloxen:Zeren probably

Israphel: …. Myself, I'm a bad, bad person

Notch: Teloxen, and I would destroy him

Herobrine:Someone who shall not be named, but it would not end well

Steve: Creepers, I would swim far, far away

Shadow: Does rain count?

Ender: Don't know

Flare:People who hurt Ender, they will die!

Notchie:I would hope no one, that would be mean

If you have any questions you would like answered, you can leave them in a review or PM them to me. I like questions with specific people being asked better than ones addressed to everyone just because it doesn't add so much extra text to the chapter. I hope you have a great day and I shall see you all next chapter. Bye! :D
