Cat Scratch
It was a quiet day at the Hamada Household. A perfect weekend that was not too heavy with homework. Hiro was tinkering with some gadgets and Hideki was content with planning out the dinner for the night.
Oh, so can't wait to try out this recipe.
He sighed happily, scribbling down ideas before freezing up at the sound of Mochi shrieking. Hideki jumped up from his bed, running down the stairs towards the source.
"What's going on down here-"
Hideki stopped short, his jaw dropping open at the sight of Baymax holding Mochi over the kitchen sink full of water and soap. Baymax just stared back, blinking.
"Aunt Cass left me to take care of Mochi and Mochi is in need of a bath after coming down the chimney. However, I can not seem to get him in the water without causing distress."
Hideki clamped both of his hands over his mouth, eyes wide in shock.
"You… NO!" He shook his head, hurrying over. "Baymax, that's not how you bathe him!"
"But it is what is recommended. His fur will become matted if it is not washed."
Hideki shook his head.
"Baymax, he hates water. I got a system." He reached into the sink, taking out the stopper as the water drained out.
Baymax tilted his head a little.
"What is this "system"? I would like to add it to my healthcare database."
"I'll show ya. First." Hideki hurried to where the cat food was kept, taking out a canister. "These."
Mochi mewed, wriggling in Baymax's hold, getting an excited look.
"Salmon treats. It works." Hideki took the cat gingerly, setting him in the sink.
Mochi mewed loudly until Hideki offered a treat. The cat went quiet, nibbling as the boy turned on the warm water. "See, Mochi's been afraid of water ever since he was a kitten. So, dipping him in water just makes him upset and freak out." He explained, spraying some dish soap onto the cat, earning a small hiss.
"That is not traditional pet shampoo."
"Meh, it makes him smell like a lemon." Hideki retorted, scrubbing it in, Baymax giving Mochi another salmon treat. "There's a good hairy baby."
Mochi mewed, shaking his head, trying to get the water off.
Baymax got a towel, offering it as Hideki wrapped Mochi up in it.
"And now we have a purrito!" He grinned.
Baymax tilted his head.
"Purrito?"
"Yeah. A cat burrito!"
Mochi purred, cuddling into the boy's chest, looking for more treats.
Baymax tilted his head, Hideki giving him a grin.
"See?"
"I see. I will add "Purrito" to my healthcare database."
The boy snickered.
"S-Sure thing, Baymax. Add Mochi's bath system to that too so he doesn't get freaked out again."
Baymax nodded, holding his arms out for Mochi.
Mochi, however, wriggled out before both could react, hurrying to the window sill, looking down.
Hideki grabbed the canister of salmon treats, shaking it, luring the cat away as the boy closed the window.
"See? He's an addict." He tossed another one to Mochi.
Baymax was beginning to understand how Mochi got the way he was.
"I see. Like you are with chocolate."
"Yeah just like-HEY!"
"I believe that was a "burn"."
"Sick one." Hideki rolled his eyes, picking up Mochi. "Alright, let's get down to business."
Dinner plans could wait.
Cat time couldn't.
Besides, I miss one on one bonding time.
