Walking downstairs Grace wasn't really aware of her surroundings as her thoughts dwelled on the appointment she had; it was for one thirty this afternoon and the registry office was booked for four, it was going to be tight but the safety of her unborn baby was priority, though she wasn't going to tell Trevor, nothing was certain yet so she thought why worry him? Plus she was determined she was going to marry Trevor today.
The Doctor had told her on the phone that spotting early on in pregnancy can be very normal and after she had explained what see saw the Doctor had reassured her that he was 99% sure that everything was okay and the baby was fine, but of course they still wanted to see her just to be sure and also put her own mind at ease that her and Trevor's baby was safe and well still.
"Hey beautiful" Trevor said as she appeared, walking over to her he kissed her on the cheek.
"So, I'm meeting Ty and Mel at twelve then I'm going back to the Hotel with them to get ready" she said although her thoughts were still very much on her unborn child; it' fine. The baby's fine. It's all going to be okay her mind kept repeating this over and over as she tried to reassure herself that it was all going to be okay; that their baby was going to be okay.
"Babe, you okay?" he asked, noticing her distance.
"Yep, just thinking about becoming Mrs Royale" she said with as much enthusiasm as she could manage before kissing him lightly on the lips "I love you, whatever happens I love you, you know that right?" she told him as she pulled away.
"Yeah, what do you mean 'whatever happens?' has something happened?" he asked with concern.
"No, I don't know, it's just something you say, everything's fine, I promise" she said as she panicked a bit inside.
"Okay, if you're sure" he said with doubt but he dropped it because he didn't want to get her worked up again.
She smiled at him weakly as she walked into the kitchen, stopping at the sink she turned the tap on, and got a glass, she filled it with some water and took a long sip.
Trevor watched her with worry but he pushed it away as he put it down to them getting married today and her pregnancy.
"And Trevor" she turned to him with a stern look "Don't you dare be late"
"Wouldn't dream of it babe" he winked before heading upstairs himself.
Standing at the sink she smiled absentmindedly as her hand rested on her stomach "Mummy and Daddy want you so much so please, just be okay, I promise we will love you if you can just hang on in there" she whispered as she looked down to where her baby rested and a single tear rolled down her cheek before she quickly brushed it away.
...
"So I'll see you at the registry office?" Grace questioned as she rushed around getting all the things she needed together.
"Yes" Trevor agreed with a grin as he thought about his wife-to-be and their unborn child.
"Okay" she rushed over and kissed him quickly "I'm going, see you later, love you"
"See you" he said as she pulled away from him and rushed out the door.
As soon as she closed the door she took a deep breath as she started walking; she wasn't meeting Mel and Tyler at all, she was going to the hospital on her own and whatever happened she was going to marry her Trevor today; until death do us apart, in sickness and in health, to love to cherish those words went around in her head as she walked down the village steps; if the worst happened would Trevor still want her? Would he stick by her? Would he still love her? Maybe she was being irrational but she was carrying their first child and if she lost that it was down to her, or so she thought.
As she stood in front of the hospital her hand went to her stomach as she felt this feeling of utter dread inside.
Pushing herself forward she walked unsteadily through the entrance and to the maternity ward.
"Grace Black, appointment for half one" she told the receptionist.
"Yes, the Doctor you were meant to see went home ill but a Nurse Butterfield will see you, if you just go to room 124 she will be there soon" the receptionist said.
Grace sighed as she made her way to the room; this was all she needed; Lindsey!
...
"Hey, I will..." Lindsey entered the room and seeing her patient she stopped mid-sentence "Oh, it's you"
"Yep" Grace said, giving her a fake smile "Just make sure my baby is okay"
Lindsey didn't say a world as she glared at her.
"Please" Grace said through gritted teeth.
"I'll just get the machine set up, just lay back on the bed for me" Lindsey said.
As Grace started laying down she started to feel light-headed so she froze, shutting her eyes she willed it to pass.
"Are you okay? I heard you found spotting, but it's not entirely abnormal for a woman like you..."
"What is that suppose to mean?" Grace snapped.
"I just meant for someone as early in their pregnancy as you" Lindsey clarified.
"Right" Grace mumbled.
Laying back fully Grace settled on the hospital bed as she waited for the news of her unborn baby's fate.
Grabbing hold of the sheets she started to feel light-headed again then before she knew it pain overtook her.
"Grace..." the soft calls of her name could be heard but as Grace tried to speck she felt a vivid movement in her lower abdomen before everything went black.
...
"Grace... Can you hear me?" she could hear faint voices but she couldn't see them as she thought of one thing; my baby. My baby. My baby.
"Grace can you open your eyes for me, you fainted" she slowly opened her eyes before trying the sit up but a force stopped her.
"Miss, you need to lie down, you're going to be okay"
"My baby, is my baby okay?" she asked in a panic.
