Nico's POV:
As I ran towards the train that was hurtling towards me at over one hundred miles per hour, I realised what a stupid idea this was. Why the hell was I risking my life for some random mortal that A) I didn't even know, and B) annoyed the sh*t out of me? I could see the storage unit up ahead but it was still two hundred yards away and the train was quickly coming closer. I ran faster but with the weight of the mystery girl on my back, I feared that it wouldn't be fast enough.
I heard the horn on the train as the conductor realised that there was one teenagers running directly towards it whilst carrying some girl on his back. I couldn't see the conductors face because of the glare from the headlights but I could imagine that he would be worried and confused. If there wasn't some random mystery girl on my back who was screaming in my ear and if I wasn't running towards a train that would squash me like a bug, I probably would have controlled the mist and made it so the conductor only saw some bird or whatever but at the moment I was a little bit preoccupied with the whole trying to outrun a train thing.
I looked to the side of the tunnel and saw that the storage unit was now only one hundred yards away. However, the train was now only five hundred yards away, and I was almost certain to die. So with that positive though in my mind I raced forwards and towards the train that was probably going to kill me.
The screech of metal against metal echoed throughout the tunnel as the train driver presumably put on the breaks, trying to slow in time. I knew that it wouldn't work though, I knew that the train would still kill me if I didn't run fast enough. There was only fifty metres to go now, maybe, just maybe, I might make it. I put all of the remaining energy I had (which wasn't much) into sprinting as fast as I could. My grip around the mystery girls' legs tightened and I sped up. I didn't want to drop her now that I had spent so much effort into saving her life.
I finally reached the storage unit and the train was still one hundred and fifty metres away. I tried to open the door but it was locked. I let out a string of cuss words in Italian as I backed up (still with the mystery girl on my back.) I knew that this would hurt. It would hurt a lot so with that happy thought in mind I charged towards the door. Just as the door broke and I fell in the train rushed past, blowing a strong wind at us and the screech of metal on metal slowly faded.
Mortal police would be here soon if I didn't act fast so I quickly let go of the mystery girl that had been lying on me and rolled her off of me. I slowly stood up and brushed myself, getting rid of any of the dust and dirt off me. I was about to open the grate that lead to a tunnel when someone started yelling at me.
"WHAT THE F*CK WERE YOU THINKING? YOU COULD'VE GOTTEN US KILLED? WHO THE HELL ARE YOU? WHERE ARE YOU GOING? WHY THE F*CK DID YOU TAKEME HERE? ARE YOU CRAZY?" The annoying mystery girl yelled at the top of her lungs. It was still so dark that I couldn't see her, so I only knew her silhouette and the sound of her voice. However, I didn't need to see her to know just how pissed she was and that she was about to punch me in the face.
"Calm down, okay? It's your own fault you're here. If you had of just stayed on the platform- like you are supposed to do- you would not be in this mess." I told her, trying to remain calm. This chick was seriously starting to annoying the sh*t out of me.
"Calm down? CALM DOWN? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? We could've died! It's your entire fault! Why did you even take me here?" She questioned but before I could answer her she continued. "I bet you planned this! I bet you want to kidnap me right? Hold me hostage?"
"What? I don't even know who you are, and why would I want to kidnap you? I've known you for like five minutes and all you have done is yell at me, even though I saved your life!" I angrily replied to her, losing my patience.
"Wait, so you don't know who I am?" I let out a scoff.
"No, why would I? And no offence, but I don't know why I would want to. You seem like a spoiled brat."
"At least I'm not a suicidal a$$hole!" She yelled at me but I just rolled my eyes at her.
"Whatever. Now leave me alone." I continued to work on the grate that was still attached to the wall.
"How do you expect me to do that Sherlock?"
"Um, I don't know… Maybe the way we came here?" I asked her sarcastically whilst muttering "idiot" under my breath.
"Hey! I heard that! And I think you forgetting that we are in the underground and unlike you, I am not suicidal."
"Well, I guess that's too bad for you because the only way out of her is through the tunnel."
"Oh yeah? Well how are you going to get out of here then?" She asked me. I seriously think that her main purpose in life was to annoy me. If so she is doing a very good job so far.
"That doesn't matter. Now can you please just leave me alone?" I asked her again for what felt like the hundredth time.
"No, I want to know what's so important that you had to risk your life for." She replied as she stepped closer to me and towards the grate.
I had finally had enough of this so the next words that came out of my mouth were probably the stupidest words I have ever and will ever say. "Fine, if you want to know so badly, why don't you come with me?" I asked her as I finally pried the grate off the wall. I looked at her for a second and then jumped through the whole in the wall.
I had hoped that she would have just given up, but of course, like usual the fates were not with me and a few seconds later I heard a thud that indicated she had followed me. I stepped off to the side so she could get a good look at what lay before us.
"Welcome to Daedalus' Labyrinth."
