So a few people asked about having the SGC sports day so here it is, hope you like it. I was going to write more but then I realised I could go on and for ever so cut it off at this point.

"I can't believe that you got the General to agree to this," Sam commented as she, Jack, Daniel and Teal'c traveled up to the surface in the lift, "When you asked I thought there was no way in hell he was going to agree to this."

Jack smiled at her before saying, "In all honesty Carter, I'm as surprised as you are."

Sam and Daniel both laughed while Teal'c stood patiently in the back ground.

"Do you think that General Hammond is going to take part?" Daniel asked after a moment of silence.

Before anyone could answer him the lift stopped and the doors opened. They all got out and headed over to the bank of lifts that would complete their journey to the surface. Once they were in and the doors had shut Jack answered Daniel. "I think he's planning on making sure the rest of us stay honest rather than competing himself."

Daniel nodded at Jack's answer, it made sense really, all of this could get out of hand if people started getting too competitive. Sam voiced his thoughts a few seconds later. "If people get too competitive then this whole idea could quickly turn to mayhem."

"But that's part of the fun Carter," Jack joked, "I mean I can't wait for one of the marine teams to get really competitive because it will be hilarious."

Sam shook her head and rolled her eyes while Jack smiled on and Daniel just looked pained by the whole motion.

"I'm just glad that we're competing as teams," Sam said as the lift began to flow, "Because at least way the Marines aren't going to get competitive with each other, too much at least anyway."

Jack and Daniel both agreed with a nod, knowing full well that she was right and that the Marines had the possibility of turning what was supposedly going to be a fun afternoon into a highly competitive event.

The lift stopped and once again they all got out. They headed outt towards the car park, nodding to the air men on security as they wentt. Once they were outside they turned left and followed the building round to the large open area that the SGC were using to hold there very own sport's day.

When Jack had first put the idea forward to Hammond he had been joking but Hammond had thought it would be a good way to wind down and for the SGC personal to have a much needed laugh. As such he had tasked Walter with setting it all out, and he had done a great job.

Sam and the others stopped just at the edge of the area and looked around. Walter had managed to set up a podium for the winners of each event and of the day overall and a marque where they could see some grills and fridges set up as well as some tables that had food on them already, all of which were under the watchful eye of some of the ladies who worked in the mess.

They all walked over to where Walter was standing. "Good job," Jack congratulated him.

"Thank you sir," Walter replied.

Sam, Daniel and Teal'c all nodded in agreement and Walter gave them all a smile before he walkd away, over to where Hammond was stood watching as the start and finish lines were set up along with the tracks.

"Do you know what the General has planned for us?" Daniel asked the group as a whole.

Everyone shook their heads. Hammond and Walter had kept the contents of the day under tight wraps, only a few people knew what was going to happen and most of them didn't know the whole picture. In fact, Sam was pretty sure that only Hammond and Walter knew the whole program in its entirety from start to finish.

Gradually the rest of the on world teams all arrived at the surface and clearing. When everyone was there Hammond got up onto the first place step of the podium and called for quiet. Once the gathered crowd had fallen silence he began to speak. "I hope you all have a good time this afternoon and don't take it too seriously. The idea for this came from Colonel O'Neill and I felt that it would be a good way to blow off some steam for everyone." At his words many of the people present turned to look in Jack's direction. Once everyone had turned back to look at Hammond he continued to say, "Also can we give Walter a round of applause for organising everything." Everyone clapped and Walter blushed. When everyone was once again quiet Hammond started again. "Everyone will be competing in their teams and those that don't have their own regular teams should have gotten themselves into groups of four ready for today." There was a spattering of nods amongst the crowd. "Well in that case could everyone please get into their teams and then each send up one member to Walter to get instructions for the first race."

Hammond got down off the podium as everyone began to move around and get into their teams. Jack lead the others into a clear area before saying, "Teal'c, go up over to Walter will you."

Teal'c inclined his head and quickly moved back through the crowd and over to where Walter was set up at a table under the marque. He was on his way back quickly since he was the first person to get there and by the time he got back to the rest of SG1 there was a already a long queue forming.

Jack smirked as he took the folded piece of paper from the Jaffa and opened it. Welcome to the SGC sports day. Our first event is going to be a sack race with a twist. You'll find the sacks with the General at the start line. Jack and the others all shared a look before they looked over to where Hammond was now standing at the start line, a covered pile beside him.

"Do you think we should go over now or wait for everyone else to get their letters?" Sam asked, looking towards the line that had shortened significantly even while they had been reading.

"Might as well wait," Jack decided, "Won't take too long anyway since Walter seems to be very organised."

Sam smiled at him and nodded. Daniel looked over to where the line was now nearly all gone. Around them everyone else was reading their bits of paper and looking towards Hammond and the covered pile. When people started to walk over SG1 followed and soon everyone was standing around Hammond.

Hammond uncovered the pile before he stepped back. Everyone looked at each other in confusion when they saw what the sheet had been covering, dumpy bags, a whole lot of them. "Everyone take a bag and then get to the start line," Hammond ordered.

One by one each group grabbed a bag before they moved to the start line. As Sam, Jack and the other two got there's they realised just how wide the start line actually was and wondered what else they were going to have to do today. They also realised exactly what it was they were expected to do in this race.

Each bag had a handle in each corner and was big enough to fit a whole team in, although it was going to be a bit tight, especially for teams who had larger members. Jack, Sam, Daniel and Teal'c all shared a look and the first three smiled, today was going to be a good day indeed, and it would be nice to be running for fun rather than for their lives for a change.

If anybody doesn't know what a dumpy bag is it's for containing and moving building materials, like sand and rocks. Google images are also good :P
