Awakening

Well, I'm in a slightly better mood but that doesn't mean that I own nothing. Sadly, I do not.

Tony's POV

I pushed harder against the rotor. The stupid metal still wasn't spinning under its own power, though it was spinning very quickly.

"Sir, I am happy to report that Barton's virus has been dealt with. My systems are once again yours to command. SHIELD's systems are also back online, shall I inform the Director of this?" I literally sighed in relief as Jarvis' voice echoed through the com.

"Keep the com channel open, get engine one back online, and show Fury why he should be extremely thankful to you...will ya?" I asked, though it was pointless. Jarvis did anything I asked, though I was intensely relieved that the other engine would soon be back online. The reason why this turbine hadn't responded to the kick start was because there was too much pressure on it.

We needed the other one back before this one would kick in.

"Of course sir, engine one rebooting now." Jarvis replied and I instantly felt the effects. It was slow, but the metal was slowly starting to spin on its own. Engine one had rebalanced the Helicarrier so it wasn't falling out of the sky, and with less strain this engine was now starting to work.

"Rogers, now would be a good time to hit the switch!" I yelled through the com as the rotor started spinning faster and faster.

"I NEED A MINUTE HERE!" Roger's yell echoed through the com, and I didn't stop to wonder at the background noise.

"Oh yes, take your time, it's not like I MIGHT NOT HAVE A MINUTE!" I yelled at Rogers in frustration, getting the urge to deck him again.

"Jarvis, reroute all unneeded power to the thrusters, I need to keep pace with this thing!" I exclaimed and my loosened grip on the metal tightened again, for the moment.

If I died in this thing...I was going to annoy Mortem and Hel until they let me return, just so that I could punch Rogers in the face one last time!

Third POV

On the Bridge, everyone was unaware of Jarvis' revival, so they were running around and preparing themselves for the crash.

"Everyone into collision positions!" Fury yelled not for the first time as he gripped his monitors tightly. However, it wasn't necessary as suddenly the Helicarrier stabilized in the air and everyone's screens flickered back to life.

"What on earth!?" A random agent exclaimed as he looked around in shock. Fury was still frozen, not believing what he could see with his own eye.

"Sir!" Another random agent exclaimed, "Engine one and our systems are back online! And it looks like Stark is getting engine three to stabilize!"

"How…" Fury was barely able to mutter the question before the answer echoed through the Bridge.

"All systems are back online, the security breach and the lockdown have been taken care of. All hostiles are either captured or have fled; and I believe that the lives of your crew are no longer in danger. Are you glad that I have control of your systems' now, Sir?"

Jarvis' report was drawled out in a tone that sounded remarkably like Stark's when he was being a smartass. So, it was no surprise that all anyone could do was stare, opened mouthed, in shock.

After a moment, Fury realized that not only had Stark built the AI who had just saved them all, but it also sounded like him.

He shivered and thought, "Oh god, a computer that had a tendency to imitate Stark's personality...we're doomed."

Fury's attention was diverted as Coulson limped onto the Bridge with a dark look on his face.

With a sigh, the gears in his mind started turning, what else had happened?

sometime before

Hel literally bit her lip as she followed Thor's decent. There was no way she was letting anything happen to him.

Thor was already trying to break free, though the constant spinning that the glass cage was doing kept throwing off his throw.

"Combine attacks on three!" Hel yelled as she landed in a crouch on the glass. Thor nodded, and black energy charged up around Hel's hands once again.

"One!" Hel drew back her hand as she clung onto the glass. The ground was getting closer and they only had moments left…

"Two," Thor landed on the opposite end of the cage, and lifted Mjolnir above his head.

"THREE!" Hel yelled as she released the blast. The black energy and Thor's hammer connected at the same time and Thor flew out of the cage, grabbing his niece at the same time.

He wrapped himself around her as they crashed into a distant field, and the cage shattered on the rocks below.

At least they were alive.

present time
Tony's POV

I had smirked as I listened to Jarvis notifying SHIELD, but my glee hadn't lasted long. As only a few moments later, my grave condition became very apparent.

"PULL THE GODDAMNED LEVER NOW ROGERS!" I yelled just as my eyes widened. All of the suits power had already been redirected...but the engine was now running on its own.

My grip slipped.

"Damn!" I whispered my eyes still wide. My mind whirled, I wasn't pushing, I wasn't even keeping up. I was trapped inside.

Shit, shit and triple shit!

Another rotor slammed into me from behind and for a moment I was frozen to the metal, arms and legs spread out to the side. My mind whirled with the possibilities and most likely outcomes, and I cursed again.

"Crap...not good…ROGERS!" I yelled aloud as I mentally swore that I was coming back just to deck him, even if I had to bribe Mortem to do it!

The speed increased, along with the air pressure, and I just managed to close my eyes as I was forced beneath the turbine.

I kept my eyes closed, and bit my lip to keep quiet as I was tossed, smashed, thrown, run over, and hit, over and over again in a constant circle. I was in a bloody blender!

I didn't even allow myself to moan, knowing that with the com open everyone would hear it.

I was decking Rogers whether I died or not!

Suddenly, I was thrown from my death spiral with a clang and yes! I was clear of the turbine! Rogers had finally thrown the fucking switch!

As I tried to steady myself in the air, I groaned at all of the system failure alerts, and warnings that flashed across the screen. The alloy was cutting and squeezing me in more than one place and I knew that it was a miracle that I wasn't in worse shape.

Much of the suit twitched in wrong directions with explosions with sparks as my left thruster died.

Mentally cursing again Jarvis' voice echoed through the com. "Sir, it would appear that Captain Rogers requires some assistance."

"Of course he does." I muttered disdainfully as the HUD and my vision flickered.

I took off towards the wound in the Helicarrier side as Jarvis pulled up a hologram of Rogers' position.

It was with a pleased and tired sigh that I literally collided with the last of Loki's men…

I didn't even bother getting up, my body protested too much, not even mentioning the suit.

All in all, not a bad way to crash.

Not that I was ever going to admit that to anyone!

I instantly knew something was wrong when Coulson's raspy voiced echoed loud and clear across the com channel.

"The god rabbeted sir,"

My eyes instantly narrowed, and I stopped removing the suit.

"Just stay awake." Fury's voice joined in and my mind whirled with the possibilities. Jarvis would have notified me if Coulson really was gravely injured…

"Jarvis, Coulson's vitals please." I muttered, making sure that no one else heard me.

I was incredibly glad that I was having a hard time removing the suit and so still had the helmet on. The HUD lit up in front of me and I processed the information almost faster than Jarvis could.

My growl cut through Fury's next sentence, and I literally pulled myself from the suit.

I knew what he was trying to do, and I wasn't going to let him do it! Not after everything else he had pulled today!

"You know Fury, I thought you above petty deceit." I snarled as I pulled out my phone and Jarvis showed me the security image. "and now I really must wonder if you're even sane! Playing the motivation card now, when most of us already want to kick Loki's ass is overkill! Are you just trying to fry what little mental stability I have left? Have you already forgotten that it was Loki's, and SHIELD's, actions that killed my daughter?! Penny meant a lot to a lot of people! Oh, let's name a few hmmm? Me, Thor, Bruce, Coulson; so I'm sorry but I think that we have all of the motivation we need."

Fury didn't respond but I didn't expect him to. I smirked as the remaining members of our little 'team' started muttering to themselves as they figured out Fury's plan.

Well, that was done...one problem down, a billion more to go.

Short again, but important chapter. Hope you liked it, and please review.

And yes, yes I am in a better mood. slightly.
