Alec: Sit.

Me: Ugh, God dude all you had to do was as- thud

Kei: Alec!

Alec: What!? don't you want to know what happens next?

Kei: Yeah, but you don't have to be so aggressive about it.

Alec: Well there's no other way this lazy asshole is going to write otherwise.

Me: Hey, I've been bus-

Alec: Shut up and start writing asshole. (Points to nearby computer)

Me: Alright but I need some music.

Alec: No! Music is for people who do what they said they'd do not people who cheat everyone out of time. (Takes out my iPod and starts listening to music) Good music by the way.

Me: (mumbles) That's because I made you like my music.

Alec: What was that!?

Me: Nothing! I'm writing!

Alec: Good.

Yeah so sorry bout that absence guys I have no excuses. :(

Chapter 28: Recovery

I ran after Kei as she stormed towards the hangar to look at my plane, "Hey, it's not that bad, really. I mean it just got beat up..."by this point she was looking at my plane stunned, "a bit," I finished as she looked at the plane.

I saw her reach up and the next thing I knew, she punched me in the jaw, but before I could recover she grabbed my head and she began forced her lips against mine. It took me a second to react but I wrapped my arms around her and pulled her closer to me. We were kissing passionately for who knows how long, but eventually, she pulled back and spoke, "I- I'm not sure if I'm pissed or overjoyed."

I chuckled slightly, "Why don't we go with overjoyed," I said.

"Sure," we stood together in each others arms for a few seconds, "but don't think this gets you off the hook."

I made an exaggerated sigh, "Of course it doesn't."

Kei laughed slightly, "I love you," she said her voice barely a whisper.

"I love you too," I said kissing the top of her head.

After a few minutes I finally pulled away slightly, "Well, let's go get some food, you've got to be hungry after that whole ordeal."

"Yeah, I just wish I could've saved Josh-"

"I know how bad you feel but there's nothing you could've done. Alright?"

"Yeah," Kei said quietly.

"Good, now let's get you some food."

Kei smiled slightly at my attempt to change the eerie mood and we walked to dinner. We sat down at our normal table with Abby and Grimm talking while Chopper and Angel sat next to each other and talked between themselves and James. And Kei and I sat next to each other on the end of the table across from Grimm and Abby.

When we sat down everyone made a quick glance to check on Kei and make sure she wasn't too hurt. Of course Chopper was the first to speak since he was incapable of ever shutting his mouth, "Geez Kid, Nagase gets shot down behind enemy lines and you end up in worse condition than her, how does that work?"

Everyone, including myself, laughed, "You know damn well how that works...Alvin."

"Oh, now you're callin' me by my god forsaken name, shit, that's too far man."

"You crossed that line, I merely explained the cost."

"Whatever, just don't expect me to be following your orders anytime soon?"

"Is that insubordination I hear?"

"Kid, if you're going to try that trick do it before you tell everyone to stop calling you by rank."

"Damn, you got me there Chopper, alright you win."

Before Chopper could reply Grimm jumped in, "So, Captain, I honestly didn't expect to see you two so soon," Grimm said with a slight smile.

"Yeah, well someone had to make sure you guys saw that she was alright. Besides, I need to make sure the evil doctor doesn't start searching the base, she needs to see me after I finish eating, wouldn't want her to become too worried, I already have one woman mad, I don't need another one pissed off."

I felt Kei playfully punch my shoulder and mumble, "Asshole."

The rest of dinner was taken up by everyone asking if Kei was alright and saying they were sorry about Josh. Once we'd finished everyone left for their rooms and I left for the clinic, Kei following closely behind.

We entered the clinic and Avery saw us she nodded slightly, "Captain Aaron, I suppose you're hear for the replacement bandage."

"Just following the doctors orders," I say, and quietly follow up with, "not like I had a choice with two of you..."

I look up and see Kei smirking, as she heard the doctor chewing me out for flying with my hand in it's condition and for nearly getting killed in the process. The doc finished with my hand and said I was free to go until morning. We headed back to the barracks and got into our room, Kei saw the window and simply shook her head. I entered shortly after and closed the door, as soon as it clicked shut I turned and saw Kei standing there expectantly with her arms crossed. "What?"

"What do you mean 'what'? You know damn well what I'm waiting for."

"I don't suppose it's me tackling you onto that comfy couch is it?"

"Ha! In you dreams," Kei's voice quieted slightly, "What the hell do you think you were doing getting your plane shot to hell like that Alec?"

"Oh, come on, what was I supposed to do? Let Sea Goblin take that missile, you know I could never let that happen especially not with you on it."

"It doesn't matter Alec!" she was yelling now, "Do you not realize that this entire damn war hinges on you!"

"We both know that's not true Kei-"

"Bullshit, I don't want anyone else hurt but if the rest of us were to go you could still turn this war around without us! Don't act like you can't."

"I couldn't," I say quietly.

"Why not! You're obviously better than all of us combined, why couldn't you do it without us?"

"I know I couldn't do it without you." I say.

"Wha-" Kei stopped when she realized what I meant.

She tackled me to the ground and we began kissing passionately, "What happened to no strenuous activities?" I ask jokingly.

"Screw doctor's orders," Kei replies.
