OR was finally down to its last few patients. Luckily, Sidney was still around to offer what help he could.
"Just think, as soon as we get these last ones done, it'll be over. Finished. We'll never have to do this again." Hawkeye contemplated as he closed up his patient.
Sidney walked to the doors and began to untie his mask. He turned around to look back at the doctors and nurses at work for the last time.
"I told all of you something a long time ago, and it's still as pertinent today as it was then... Ladies and gentlemen, take my advice. Pull down your pants and slide on the ice." Sidney started to leave but stopped.
Suddenly, everyone turned to hear the radio as it was turned on.
"WITH THESE LAST FEW MOMENTS OF THE WAR, YOU'LL CONTINUE TO HEAR THE FIGHTING RAGE ON FOR A FEW SECONS LONGER AS THE FINAL MOMMETS OF THE TWELVE PREVIOUS HOURS COME TO A CLOSE..."
The OR went dead silent as everyone looked to each other, listening to the sound of shells bursting over the radio... until everything went silent.
"HEAR THAT? THAT'S THE SOUND OF PEACE..."
Everyone breathed heavily as watery eyes let loose a few tears. The fighting finally ceased.
