"The real reason that we're here is because we received another mission, Foxy, and were wondering if you were ready." Finn asked her, all business.
"Sure, what's the mission about?"
Finn gave her a meaningful look, and she nodded. "Right, sorry 'bout that. I'll be ready in a few hours." Finn smiled at her, then looked down at Jimi, who was still sleeping. He gently set him down next to Foxy, and she smiled down at him.
Jimi whimpered and his right front tire twitched. Gradually, Jimi began waking up. He looked around, blinking sleepily.
"Hi, Jimi." Foxy said softly, making his hood move her way. He yawned, then squeaked. He looked around at the others, and cocked his hood in confusion when he spotted Mack. He began scrambling over to Mack, who looked down at him.
"Hey little guy." Mack greeted him. Jimi chirped, then waved a tire. He looked up at Mack, then down at Mack's tire, then back up at Mack again. He blinked, then began rolling towards Mack. He squealed as his tires wobbled violently, and just barely remained standing. When his rear tires splayed out in separate directions, he frowned and began gathering his tires back underneath him. He stood up triumphantly, then began rolling towards Mack. When he reached Mack, he squeaked in surprise as he nearly tumbled to the ground, and clung to Mack's tire desperately. He let go of Mack's tire after a minute, and held up a tire, comparing his to Mack's. The unevenness caused him to topple over, and his eyes filled with tears as he began whimpering. Mack gently pushed him upright, and Jimi hugged his tire, chirping happily. Mack smiled down at him, and patted his roof gently with the same tire. He picked Jimi up, and set him on his hood. Jimi giggled and looked up at Mack, then waved a tire. Mack chuckled, and Foxy watched the two with a smile.
Two hours later, Foxy had gathered up Jimi and Lily, and then her and Fillmore went back to his dome. She set the two babies down, and smiled at them, wondering when she would be able to see them again. "I've barely even known you two for a day, and I already don't want to leave you two alone." She said quietly with a smile as Jimi stuck his tire in his mouth and looked up at her. She nuzzled him gently, whispering, "Be good for Fillmore, okay?". He looked up at her and squealed with a grin. She laughed, then rubbed his roof gently. "I don't have to tell your sister, since she already seems to behave. Right, Lily?" Lily squeaked, and clung to her mother's tire in a hug. "Hey, come on, I've got to go soon." Foxy's grin betrayed her, and she spent the next half an hour playing with and tickling them.
When Finn rolled over to Fillmore's dome and called her, she sighed, looking down at the twins sadly. "I've got to go. Like I said, be good for Fillmore and the others if they want to hang out, okay?"
Fillmore chuckled, then nudged her towards the door.
"Okay, okay. Bye." She said with a laugh, then kissed him quickly before darting away. At a yawn, he turned around to find Jimi and Lily snuggled up together in Foxy's chair, blinking at him drowsily.
He laid a blanket over the two of them, then laid down next to the chair.
Lily made her way out of the chair, and snuggled against his tire. He gently pulled her closer, chuckling as she yawned and fell asleep. Jimi whimpered and followed her lead, earning Fillmore's right front tire.
As Siddeley took off, Foxy sighed, pacing back and forth across the floor of the cabin. Finn and Holley watched her in secret amusement, their hoods following her. "Oh, I hope they'll be all right without me. I don't want them to think that I'm deserting them. Oh, that would be horrible!"
"Foxy, they'll be fine. After all, you'd rather them be there then here with you, wouldn't you?" Finn asked, and Foxy looked his way.
"I guess you're right, Finn. I just don't know what to do."
"For starters, there's the new mission that you've agreed to go on without hearing about it."
"Oh, right! Let's hear it!"
"There have been strange murders throughout England, Foxy."
"What's so strange about them?"
"They've been happening on the same day of each month with the same weapon. And the victims have all been women who had been raped prior to their murders." Finn replied gravely, and Foxy nodded.
"That is strange. Do we know what the weapon is?"
Finn nodded, and Holley pulled up a picture of a butcher knife with a sharp, two-inch point on the top end.
"My god!" Foxy exclaimed, horrified.
"It's horrid. I did some investigating and discovered one of the bodies. Whoever did this surely knew what they were doing, firstly since the injuries were precise and secondly since there wasn't even a small piece of the knife they used to be found in any of the injuries."
"Where are we going?"
"Back to C.H.R.O.M.E. to talk to Edward. He was the one who conducted the autopsies."
Foxy nodded, then her eyes grew wide. "D-Did you just say a-autopsies?" She asked, her eyes growing fearful.
"Yes, is there something wrong?"
"Autopsies haven't been my favorite thing ever since my dad had one. There's always that creepy guy who loves his scalpels a little TOO much." She shuddered visibly, and continued her pacing, beginning to shake.
"Then that means that your father's-"
"Dead, yes. He died when I was thirteen, a few days after my birthday."
Finn was silent as he looked down at his hood, trying to think of something comforting to say.
Holley looked up at Foxy, who was now pacing the floor more rapidly. "That's horrible, Foxy." She replied quietly, and Foxy looked her way.
"It was a hell of a birthday present." Despite her sarcastic statement, Holley and Finn both winced at her tone. "Look, let's just find this murderer. I want to blow stuff up." She grinned, and Finn chuckled.
"Honestly, are you two quite sure that you're not related?" Holley sighed, rolling her eyes with exasperation.
Finn and Foxy glanced at each other, wearing identical grins, then back over at Holley. "It's possible." The two replied at the same time.
Holley sighed, rolling her eyes again, making Foxy laugh. "Just pay attention. There's something going on here, and we've got to figure out what it is."
"Hmm... Yes, I agree. There is something going on here." Foxy replied, faking a British accent as she looked at Holley's onboard computer. "You don't have any games on there."
Finn chuckled behind his tire, watching as Holley threw Foxy a slightly irritated expression, at which Foxy's taunting grin became even larger. "Come on, Holley, I'm only teasing." Foxy nudged her in the side with a tire, her grin turning apologetic, and finally Holley relented. "But seriously, you need to have at least Solitaire. Think about it."
Holley sighed in exasperation again, then returned back to her computer, where she was plotting out the locations of the bodies. "Finn, come look at this."
"Yes, Holley?" He rolled over to her side and looked at what had been created when she had connected the locations. His eyes widened in surprise, then quickly formed a confused expression.
"What is it?" Foxy asked, and she rolled closer to Holley also. "Woah... That's the Black Shuck!"
"I beg your pardon?"
"The Black Shuck? The Hellhound? Perro Negro?" At Finn and Holley's confused glances, Foxy sighed. "It's a dog about this size-" she held her tire about three feet off the ground, "-And it's as strong as a bulldozer, and it's got bright red, glowing eyes. If you see it three separate times, you'll have instant death. It's commonly seen around graveyards, and is said to be the Devil's best friend. It's known by many different names, most commonly Black Shuck in England, Hellhound in the States, and Perro Negro in Spanish-speaking countries." She rattled off, sounding like an encyclopedia.
"How do you know as much as you do about this creature?"
"Lots and lots of research. I also know about the Chupacabra, the Loch Ness Monster, and Bigfoot."
"I beg your pardon? What exactly are all these? I can't honestly say that I've ever heard of these creatures before. Have you, Miss Shiftwell?"
Holley shook her hood, then replied, "I haven't Finn. What are they, Foxy? Where would you find them? Are they dangerous?"
"It would certainly help us, seeing as this 'Black Shuck' was formed from the locations of the bodies." Finn replied, and the two looked at Foxy curiously.
Foxy sighed, and began her long explanation. The two listened with interest, since neither knew anything about the creatures Foxy was explaining about.
"Supposedly mythical creatures. The Chupacabra is found in New Mexico all the way to the bottom of Mexico, dead bodies of livestock have been found with the blood drained out of them and three puncture wounds anywhere on their bodies. The Loch Ness Monster is found in Loch Ness, in Scotland. It's said to be a plesiosaur, an ancient dinosaur. There have been well over a couple hundred sightings, although quite a few have been hoaxes. Lastly, Bigfoot has been proven to exist, and resembles a large, six-foot-tall primate, with really big feet. It resides in large forests all over the world." Foxy gave Finn a grin when she was done, and he chuckled.
"Now who does she sound like, Miss Shiftwell?" He glanced her way with a grin, and her mouth fell open slightly with surprise.
Foxy laughed, then bumped tires with Finn.
"Yes, all right, that was absolutely hysterical." Holley replied, putting all her sarcastic emphasis on 'Hysterical', making Finn and Foxy laugh.
"Not my fault if I like to do research." Foxy held her front tires up in a sign of submission, grinning.
Finn chuckled, then the three became serious again, looking at the screen. "What could it mean though?" Foxy asked quietly. "Perhaps that's who has committed these murders?" She asked, looking at Finn.
He shook his hood, then replied, "Remember the knife, Foxy."
"Oh, yeah. Sorry. Hmm..." She continued staring into the picture, her eyes becoming unfocused and dreamy. She didn't notice when Holley shut her computer off, and when Finn nudged her, she jumped about a foot. "Huh?!"
"Are you quite all right?"
"I was thinking."
"Whatever about?"
"How the Black Shuck ties into these murders. What if, instead of the Black Shuck itself committing these murders, that's the symbol of the car who did it, and also if he has any accomplices?" She offered, and Finn gave her a grin.
"Well done, Foxy."
"Thanks, Finn." She grinned back, then the three started down the ramp as Siddeley stopped in C.H.R.O.M.E.'s airport hangar.
