If you haven't noticed by now, I've put up a update schedule on my profile. It has the dates of when I will be updating and what stories they will be. Check it out!
"Myles!" Beckett gasped, his eyes wide as he scrambled over to his brother and hugged the little genius tightly. Admittedly, maybe a little too tight for someone who had just almost died.
Myles groaned at the pressure, but smiled and hugged the blond for a brief moment before he looked up. "Artemis!"
Their older brother smiled and opened his mouth to speak, his attention still mainly on Holly, when Terrence beat him to it. "Okay, reunion time's over." He told everyone, helping Myles up. "We have to get out of here now."
Myles looked up at Terrence, glaring at him for a brief moment. He didn't know if he should trust the blond, but his twin apparently did. In the end, Myles nodded and Beckett started leading the way back to where he knew the shuttle was.
Terrence clapped a hand on Artemis' shoulder, giving him a reassuring look. Artemis got up, helping Holly up with him. Artemis was glad the unbearable pain in his leg was gone as he followed his brothers closely, walking side-by-side with Terrence.
Holly took up the rear, fully refreshed by the strange magic that had surged through her before. The thought of that kept her mind busy as she walked down the halls. The elf looked behind them nervously over and over again, making sure that Spiro's goons weren't trailing or coming up behind them sneakily.
She kept staring at Artemis, however, any free moment Holly found herself in. He was definitely older than the last time she had seen him. But then again, it had been almost 7 whole years. Over the years, Holly had forgotten about the human-elf age difference.
His hair was longer, and it seemed like he no longer kept his hair slicked back. It wasn't now, at least. Whether it was because of his strange blond friend, or trying to blend into college life, she didn't know, but it looked really good on the Irish man. Hot even, if she dare go that far.
Holly sighed, diverting her eyes from Artemis to look back again cautiously. They were almost there, to the broken air vent that acted almost like a doorway back to the shuttle. Beckett just had to navigate them around a couple more corners and down a few hallways.
"Stop right there, you little bastard." Everyone's eyes widened as they rushed around the last corner they had to take, only to come face to face with the white-haired villain.
Beckett stepped forward, his eyes glaring at Spiro and the three goons behind him. His chest was puffed out, as if he was trying to scare them away like that. "Who are you calling little?" He shot back, looking down at the shorter man.
Spiro sneered and brought a little box trigger out of his pocket, a circular red button on top. Beckett opened his mouth to say something else, but Artemis clapped a hand as Terrence grabbed both of the twins' arms, pulling the teen boys behind them. The villain chuckled at that. "Oh, come now." Spiro smirked, "I won't hurt him."
Terrence scoffed. "Yeah, right."
Spiro's smirk dulled a bit as his light eyes fell on his nephew. He tsked softly."My own flesh and blood."
Holly looked at the blond man in front of her. He was related to Spiro? Her lack of knowledge pertaining to the situation confused her, but based on Artemis and Beckett's more relaxed body language to Terrence, she came to the quick conclusion that he could be trusted at the moment.
"Let them go, Uncle Jon." Terrence sighed. He scoffed softly, gesturing around with his hands. "This...This is starting to get a bit ridiculous, don't you think?"
Spiro paced, pretending to think about it for a very brief moment. "Mm, no. No, Terrence, I don't think so." His thumb circled the little, red button as an unsaid threat. Artemis' eyes followed the remote, somewhat in a trance. "You know what I want."
Terrence raised an eyebrow. "Do I?"
"Revenge." Artemis interjected, his own eyes narrowing. "My blood."
The villain shrugged. "Or your head on a stick, if you prefer. Whichever is perfectly fine with me, Fowl." He picked a piece of invisible lint off his flawlessly white suit jack. "Or hers." He muttered distractedly, bringing up Holly.
"You don't go anywhere near her." Artemis growled, angling himself defensively in front of Holly. Myles, and Beckett. "And don't even think about my brothers."
Now it was Spiro's turn to raise an eyebrow, looking back at the twins. "Brothers?" He asked, starting to get severely off topic. "Really? I would have guessed the ebony-haired, stoic one, but not the-" Spiro stopped, shaking his head. "Doesn't matter. What matters is that I want you dead."
Holly scoffed, relaxing her stance slightly from the extremely defensive position it was in. "You won't try to blow up this building." She tested, "You'll go down with it. And, anyway, if you were really going to fight, you're outnumbered." She looked at the beaten down guards behind him. One was still cradling his arm gently with his other hand, part of it bend at an odd angle.
Spiro chuckled lowly, his eyes darting from the group in front of him to the vent to his left. "You know, I've always wondered what you were, my dear." He ignored her earlier statement.
"And you never will know." Artemis glared at the villain, trying his hardest not to look back at Holly.
Spiro clocked his tongue, scoffing as he realized something. "Oh, I see." He smirked, looking between Holly and Artemis. "You two are together."
Holly's eyes widened and she looked down. Her cheeks felt like they were burning. Was it really that obvious? He wasn't right, though. They weren't together.
And they never could be.
Terrence sighed, raising his fists in an offensive manner. Holly was right, it wouldn't be hard to get past them. "We can easily get out of here, Uncle Jon." He told the older man. "Don't ruin this building or risk the lives of your other guards. Revenge isn't worth that." He shrugged, "You've lost."
Spiro cocked his head, an amused expression on his face. "Oh, really?" He questioned. "Have I?" The villain pulled out a slim white phone from his pocket. He pressed the screen a few times before his evil smirk grew, turning the phone screen towards Terrence so he could see what was on it.
Artemis knew that there was obviously something extremely wrong when Terrence backed away, shaking his head feverishly. "That's-"
"My brother, is it not?" He looked at the screen himself. "Your father."
Artemis caught a glimpse of the screen and even he couldn't suppress his eyes from widening. It was Terrence's dad, unconscious and in an unknown white room. The words LIVE FEED written across the left hand corner of the screen.
"I thought my father was-"
"Dead?" Spiro shrugged, glancing at the screen again to look at the video. The villain chuckled darkly. "Don't believe every letter you read from your dear old uncle."
"Got the old part right." Beckett muttered, rolling his eyes. Myles smacked him on the arm lightly, giving him a look to tell him to shut up and stop annoying the man with the explosives.
Spiro sneered, but ignored the teen. "The bad news is, Terrence, that if you try to run off or even fight, the explosion will start in the room I put him in and he really will be dead."
"You're a sick bastard." Terrence growled, staring at the screen.
"Oh, I'll be more than happy to let him go." Spiro told him, lying about the happy part. "But, I believe we already established what I want."
Terrence looked back at Artemis. His uncle wanted him, his best friend. The same best friend that lied to him for so many years. But was he really that upset about it anymore? Did that mean he should die for his father's life?
Artemis, however, had other thoughts. There were no choices. He took a step forward. "Fine." The genius sighed softly. "No tricks, you have me. Just let them go. Let them all go."
