"Maki-chan, Maki-chan," Hanayo whispered to Maki, the six year old rolling over and waking up.
"Why?" Maki asked, Hanayo giggling at the question.
"Baby girl, it' she first day of school," Maki perked up at the words, even though she hadn't admitted it out loud, she had been super excited about finally starting school with her friends.
"Why is school so eawly" Maki asked.
"That's a good question sweetheart," Hanayo giggled again, taking a purple tank top and a white skirt for Maki out of her closet.
"Did you like school mommy?" Maki asked, holding her arms up while Hanayo changed her outfit.
"Yeah, it was lots of fun, don't worry baby, you'll love it,"
"I-I not worried!" Maki pouted as she put on the skirt, Hanayo patting her head.
"Alright boo, come on you want some breakfast?" Hanayo asked, lightly tickling Maki's sides.
"Stop mommy!" Maki laughed as Hanayo released her, taking the girl's hand and leading her downstairs.
"Morning Maki-chan!" Kotori chirped from the kitchen.
"Mworning Mama," Maki replied, climbing into her chair.
"Eat up princess," Kotori put Maki's breakfast in front of her, which consisted of baked tomatoes with Parmesan cheese, scrambled eggs, and toast. Maki's face broke out in a smile, Kotori laughing at the sudden change. Maki started eating slowly, trying to conceal her love.
"Is it good baby?" Kotori asked.
"Yeah!" Maki didn't even care about her pride anymore, the food was too good.
"That's good to hear," Kotori smiled and patted Maki's head, running her fingers though Maki's silky shoulder length hair.
"Kiddo you done?" Kotori asked when she noticed Maki's plate was mostly empty.
"Yeah," Maki stood up and walked up to the sink, getting on her tip toes to put her plate in the sink.
"Alright princess, you have ten minutes to grab your bag and get ready," Kotori smiled and placed Maki on her hip, going back up the stairs to Maki's room.
"Okay," Kotori put Maki down and let her brush her teeth, then brushed Maki's hair.
"You want anything in your hair sweetie?" Maki nodded no at Kotori's question.
"Alright go grab your backpack, we have to go," Kotori lightly pushed Maki's back towards her room. Maki running in and grabbing the bag she had already packed the night before.
"Come on Maki-chan, let's go downstairs," Kotori said as she walked into her little girl's room, taking the excited six year old's hand.
"Mama? How wong is school? You and Mommy pick me up right?" Maki asked as the two reached the stairs.
"Of course we'll come pick you up, and school will be over before you know it," Kotori kissed Maki's head once they reached the bottom.
"Okay," Maki let out a rare smile.
"Hey you two, Maki-chan you ready for school?" Hanayo asked when the two reached the door.
"Yeah!" Maki put her hand over her mouth and blushed, she didn't mean to sound so excited.
"Alright, let's go!" Hanayo said with a laugh. Maki put her purple flats on before the adults put their's on. When they all had their shoes on, they started the short walk to school, Maki holding both her parents hands. When they reached the gates Maki spotted one of her two best friends, Nico Ayase. The two had met because their parents we're best friends as well.
"Nico-chan!" Maki ran up to embrace her friend. Who met her halfway.
"Maki-chan!" The two started gushing about the excitement they been trying to conceal from their parents.
"Hey you two, ready for the girls to start kindergarten?" Eli asked, dragging her half asleep lover over towards the two.
"Nope not ready, how did my mom do this anyway? Anyway Nozomi?" Kotori answered/asked.
"She stayed up all night worrying about Nico," Nozomi moaned at Eli's statement.
"She can't go to school yet, unlike Maki-chan who turned six in April, Nico-chi's still five! There's so much that could go wrong!" Nozomi explained.
"Well, Maki-chan just turned six so she still acts like she did when she was five," Hanayo defended.
"We should take a picture of these two before they run in without us," Kotori commented, the other three women nodding in agreement.
"Nico-chan! Maki-chan!" The two's final best friend Honoka Sonoda ran up to them, embracing the two.
"Honoka-chan!" Nico met Honoka halfway like she did with Maki. Honoka's parents Umi and Rin joining the adults in conversation.
"Morning guys," Umi yawned as she greeted.
"Good morning Nya!" Rin smiled.
"Umi why do you look so tired? Last time I checked you and Rin were the most early risers in existence," Eli asked.
"Honoka kept me up all night because she was so excited," Umi muttered, burying her face into Rin's arm.
"I didn't hear her though Nya," Rin said happily.
"Rin-chan you can sleep though anything," Nozomi commented.
"The girls are all in the same class right?" Hanayo thought aloud.
"Yeah, their all in the A class," Eli answered, Nico running up and grabbing her arm, hanging on it like it was a monkey bar.
"What's up sweetie?"
"Ice cream awfter school?"
"Yep, now go talk to Honoka and Maki some more," Eli ruffled Nico's hair, the girl running off and talking to her friends some more.
"Okay, now we should really get them to class," Umi rushed. After a photo session by the parents the girls were all taken to their class, where they met their teacher and found their desk, the girls all quickly becoming interested in the new place. Their parents hung around for a bit, then had to go.
"Bye Maki-chan," Hanayo kissed her head.
"Bye Mommy,"
"Goodbye Maki-chan, see you soon," Kotori kissed the girl's nose. On the walk home, Kotori took her lover's hand, noticing the worried look on her face.
"She'll be fine Hanayo-chan!" Kotori reassured.
"Are you sure Kotori-chan? I mean what if she doesn't get along with her classmates, or she doesn't follow the rules, or she gets lost, or even worse kidn-!" Hanayo's rant was cut short by Kotori's lips.
"She will be fine, we raised her well enough to get along with people and she knows not to wonder off, she will be okay, besides, we get the house to ourselves for an entire day, and I have the day off," Kotori smiled and kissed Hanayo again.
"Yeah," Hanayo smiled, maybe this kindergarten thing wasn't that bad.
