Chapter 27

The next day…

Saito was sitting up in his bed, feeling much better than the day before. Although his wounds hadn't healed as much, the pain in his muscles was mostly gone. Mr. Colbert suddenly entered the room, breaking Saito from his thoughts with a start.

"Saito! I have developed it just as you said!" shouted Mr. Colbert, loudly. Saito shushed him and Mr. Colbert flushed, embarrassed that his enthusiasm caused him to shout loudly in a place full of sleeping injured people.

Saito looked down at what Mr. Colbert was pushing and his eyes widened, grin also broadening.

"You made the wheelchair," said Saito, excitedly. Wheelchairs never really existed in Halkeginia and Saito had described it to Mr. Colbert so he could make one. Although it isn't particularly difficult to make, the proportioning of the wheel and creating a good locking mechanism was a bit more challenging.

Mr. Colbert rolled the chair over to Saito and Saito inspected it. It was made out of mostly wood, the wheels being lined with rubber and the seat having pillows to make it more comfortable.

"Help me into it. I want to try it out," said Saito, pulling the covers off of him. Mr. Colbert stopped the chair next to the bed and locked the wheels before hooking his arms around Saito to help him into the chair. Saito winced a bit in pain, but once he was released in the chair the pain subsided.

Saito immediately disengaged the lock and rolled the wheels to move backward, away from the bed. He had a bit of experience with them because when he was 13 he had broken his leg and had to use one for awhile.

"So how is it, Saito?" asked Mr. Colbert, breaking Saito from his trip down memory lane.

"Very good. It's more comfortable than I thought it would be and it's pretty smooth when moving around. If you make some more of these, some of the injured soldiers will be able to move around," said Saito, moving around in the chair in multiple directions.

"Yes! Being able to move around and visit each other will improve the overall mood as they won't feel as inhibited," said Mr. Colbert, excitedly. Saito began to roll towards the door but was stopped by Mr. Colbert who had grabbed one of the handles. "Where are you going, Saito?"

"Where else? I'm going to find Louise. I remember her being badly injured and I want to visit her. I want to be there when she wakes up," said Saito, attempting to brush his old teacher off of the wheelchair. Mr. Colbert smiled at Saito's concern and opened the door for him. Saito smiled and rolled the chair out in the hall, receiving confused expressions from the doctors. (Doctors = water mages)

"Miss Vallière's room is this way. Follow me," directed Mr. Colbert, walking down the hall. Saito followed his old teacher, a smile on his face.

The building everyone was in was quite big and it took a few minutes, and many turns through the relatively empty halls, before they arrived at the room. Mr. Colbert opened the door and Saito glanced up at him before wheeling into the small room.

Mr. Colbert closed the door behind him and Saito rolled over to Louise's bedside. It was very quiet in the room and Saito could hear her quite snores as she slept. She looked so peaceful, if it weren't for the bandages that you could see wrapped around her neck and going down beneath her clothes.

He lifted up his hand and brushed away some of the pinkish-blonde hair out of her face and smiled at the adorable expression on her face. Saito always loved watching her sleep. She was always so peaceful and childlike. As his hand brushed her face, he heard her groan, quietly, and her face scrunched up.

Saito immediately removed his hand and watched as she scrunched up her face before she sneezed the most adorable sneeze Saito had ever heard. Her eyes fluttered open and she blinked a few times, probably processing where she was.

She turned her head and saw Saito sitting down, staring at her face with a worried expression.

"Saito," Louise breathed before stretching out her arm towards him, gritting her teeth in pain. Saito grasped her hand in his and they intertwined their fingers.

"Louise," said Saito, calmly.

"Saito," said Louise as he leaned towards her.

"Louise," breathed Saito as his lips were about to touch hers.

The door was suddenly, and quite loudly, slammed open and a panting and injured Asuna stood in the doorway. She was glaring at Saito, who was now staring at her with a shocked expression along with Louise.

Saito inspected Asuna and she had a cast around her arm and bandages around her face, legs, and other arm.

"Saitoooooo," growled Asuna, stomping over to Saito. "I've been awake since last night and you haven't once come to visit me. Instead I find you trying to make out with your wife who's already fully healed while I'm still injured!"

Saito couldn't suppress the smile that creeped its way onto his face and he began to crack up at her attitude.

"What the hell are you laughing at?!" shouted Asuna when she was right next to Saito.

"I-I'm sorry, I'm sorry. You just look hilarious being injured and trying to scold me. On top of that you're scolding me for trying to kiss my wife," said Saito, chuckling lightly. Asuna pouted and puffed up her cheeks in annoyance before chopping Saito in the head with her good arm. Saito yelped and clutched his head in pain while Louise growled at Asuna.

"What are you doing to my Saito?" shouted Louise, angrily, as she forced herself into a seated position.

"Your Saito?! Just because you're his wife doesn't mean Saito can't have fun with other girls when he wants! Isn't it common in your world for Lords to have concubines?" argued Asuna, causing Saito to blush, brightly, at the word concubine. Siesta could almost be considered a concubine after what we did… thought Saito, embarrassed by the thought.

"Saito doesn't like doing those things! He said he wants to stick to how he was taught, which means only being with one woman!" shouted Louise in defense.

"Saito! Who is right?!" shouted both of them in unison as they turned to Saito. Saito began to sweat and muttered out 'Uh's and 'Um's as he thought about what to say. Both girls became impatient with him after a minute or so and both smacked him across the head, effectively knocking him unconscious and Saito slumped in his wheelchair, swirls in his eyes.

"Idiot, Saito," breathed Louise while puffing up her cheeks.

"Known him all his life and he's still an idiot," muttered Asuna, also puffing up her cheeks.

Elsewhere…

"Unhhh…" groaned Tiffa as she woke up. She groaned in pain as she could feel the soreness in her entire body. When she opened her eyes she noticed Madarf was standing against the wall by the door. "Madarf?"

"Tiffania! You're finally awake!" shouted Madarf as he leapt off the wall and walked towards her.

"What happened?" asked Tiffa, weakly.

"You've been out for 3 days. When we found you most of your internal organs had been severely damaged. The doctors weren't sure if you'd make it because of how great the damage was," said Madarf, worriedly. Tiffa stared at him with as much of a shocked expression as she could muster. Madarf's eyes were filled with worry and he was leaning over her, probably inspecting her.

"U-Uh…M-Madarf, I appreciate the concern but you're a bit close," said Tiffa, nervously and blushing intensely. When Tiffa had been picked up by Madarf to perform the entrance ceremony in Rivendell so long ago, she has been spending much more time with him, sometimes whole days just spent together alone. Because of that, the two became much closer and Tiffa suspected that the young elf had developed an interest in her. Tiffa, on the other hand, wasn't sure how she felt about her elfish friend.

"S-Sorry!" said Madarf, flushing in embarrassment and pulling himself away from her. Tiffa continued to blush and looked away from him while he rubbed his neck and did the same. "S-So…uhh…are you in a lot of pain?"

"N-No, just sore. It will probably go away after some rest," said Tiffa, trying to calm her racing heart. "U-Umm…can I please have some water?"

"O-Of course! Here, I brought some in case you woke up. The doctor said it isn't good for you to be without water for so long," said Madarf as he grabbed a glass of water from the table next to Tiffa's bed. Tiffa winced when she tried to sit up and Madarf had to help her before handing her the glass. She chugged it down and sighed in relief before handing the glass back to him. Madarf set it off to the side and stared at her.

"W-What?" asked Tiffa when she felt his gaze on her.

"W-Well…uh…I'm glad you're okay. I was afraid you might not wake up," said Madarf while blushing again. Tiffa's brain shorted out a bit and she blushed, violently. He was worried about me?! thought Tiffa, nervously. Tiffa's heartbeat sped up a bit and she wasn't really sure how to react. Madarf looked up at her and gasped when he saw smoke coming out of her ears and swirls in her eyes as he brain continued to short out. "T-Tiffania?! Tiffa, stay with me!"

Madarf leapt at her and tried to shake her from her malfunction to no avail.

So? What did you think?

I'm sorry that this is a relatively short chapter, but I wanted to end it on a more comedic note.

Also, I will be removing Tiffa from Saito's harem, as you should have guessed.

After the thing with Lifdrasir, I feel like Tiffa has distanced herself from Saito, feeling she would just end up hurting him again, and so she would also erase her feelings for him which I am slowly erasing in favor of Madarf :D

Anyways, I ramble, until next time...byeee :D
