Gone Not Forgotten
Chapter 28
Hayley hung up the phone; she got Jackson to agree to watch the house from the outside with some of his wolves.
"Why didn't you tell me you were back?" Marcel asked Rebekah, they were sitting in the living. Hayley, Elijah, and Hope in another. Kol and Davina were on the porch beginning the spell.
"I'm not me; I didn't want you to see me until I was back." She referred to her new body.
"I know it's you."
"I guess-," Rebekah was interrupted by Davina calling from the porch.
"Marcel, the spell is finished no one can come in or leave until Finn is dealt with." Davina informed him when he came to the door, Rebekah behind him.
"Thanks Davina," Marcel answered.
Rebekah eyed Kol from around Marcel. "Hey sis, good your back," Kol spoke.
"You locked me in a witch prison that tried weird torture tactics on me and the others and stuck me in this body." She didn't mean to say all that.
Marcel looked at her in surprise. "You have my word; I will get your body back." Kol promised before walking off.
Caroline heard the conversation downstairs, the spell was finished and if everything went as planned, no one could get in or out. "They're done," Caroline, informed as if Klaus couldn't hear what was happening downstairs.
Klaus walked over to the window that over looked the property. He opened the window and there was an invisible barrier that blocked him. It was just as he thought; he could see some of the wolves on the outskirts of the large property shadowed by the trees.
Caroline left Klaus to his angry thoughts and found a room she could use. There was a free one across the hall. The room was simple with a large bed in the center with a blue and white comforter that matched the curtains. Caroline sat on the bed and took out her phone, she thought about telling Elena where she was and what she really was doing. She could tell by her several missed calls and texts that Elena was worried about her.
Just as she decided what to do her phone started to ring. The caller ID showed that it was Elena. It wasn't the plan but maybe it was what she should do, "hello." Caroline answered.
"Caroline, where have you been? You haven't answered your phone in days." Elena answered her worry was evident.
Caroline took a deep breath, "in New Orleans." She answered not knowing what her best friend was thinking about her.
"With Klaus, are you in trouble?"
"No, I-"
"Care do you like him?" The question felt strange once she said it. Elena knew Klaus as the Original Hybrid that killed her aunt and wanted her blood for his hybrid army. Caroline saw something else in him that nobody else did.
"Yes I do."
"Be careful," Elena's words were filled with distrust.
"I know what I'm doing," I hope, she added silently. "I'll be back soon, bye Elena." Caroline hung up knowing in time Elena will come to understand.
Finn and Serena Found the Mikaelson siblings quicker than expected, "They are well protected with an anti magic boundary spell and wolves," Finn informed.
"The wolves are easy." She started chanting the same words over and over until Finn notice the Wolf army that was standing guard around the house began to drop one by one. "A sleeping spell, they will be out for several hours," Serena explained her actions.
"What about the boundary spell?"
Serena paused for a long minute; she wasn't sure exactly how to bring down the boundary spell they were using. She knew that the spell was sealing them all inside and she or Finn wouldn't be able to cross it being a witch. Maybe she didn't have to bring it down but to fool it. If she can draw energy from a strong source, she might be able to make Finn appear human. "I can do it but I need a source of energy," she purposely left out his part in the plan.
Hayley didn't see the wolves anymore and a strange sense of fear filled her body, Finn and Serena had to be apart of it. Without thinking of the boundary spell she tried to get through the back door unsuccessfully. "Hayley the-" Elijah tried to say but Hayley interrupted.
"Finn and Serna have to be here, the wolves," she stopped suddenly because something caught her attention near the trees; it was one of her wolves. "He's alive," she finally confirmed after several seconds.
"What are you both arguing over?" Klaus asked appearing behind them.
"Finn was here," Elijah answered.
"Get Hope upstairs,-" Klaus tried to take charge.
"Niklaus, they aren't here now, they put a curse on the wolves and left." Elijah almost shouted to gain his attention and explain the little he knew.
"He'll be back."
"What happened, is it Finn and Serena?" Caroline came down stairs to investigate the screaming.
"Yes," Klaus turned to face her. Elijah and Hayley left the room; Hayley took Hope upstairs for a nap.
"The spell will keep them out."
"No, a witch powerful enough can bring it down." Klaus revealed the holes in his plan.
Caroline was surprised by Klaus's honesty. "Do you think either Finn or Serena is strong enough?"
"If Finn is still channeling our mother he might be."
It seemed like Klaus might get the fight he wanted after all. "What about putting another spell up around the perimeter of the property, then they'll have two spells to bring down and will use more of their energy before reaching the one around the house." Caroline tried to offer a plan.
Klaus thought about her plan for a minute, "the spell requires a physical place."
Caroline nodded. It was different seeing Klaus so honest. "If they can bring down the spell then we need to be ready." Caroline tried to give a small smile to show confidence but she was pretty sure she failed. After Finn took her from the hotel, she had a pretty good idea just how powerful both of them are.
"Somebody with Hope all the time, and at each door." Klaus finished Caroline's thought.
Caroline knew she already told him but if they were preparing to fight two powerful witches' anything could happen and he needed to know and she needed an answer of some kind. "Klaus," she paused and took a breath. "Klaus I love you," she finally got out in one breath.
He took a step towards her but said nothing, his eyes staring directly into hers. She searched his eyes for any sign of what he was thinking, but nothing. He took one more step toward her and she felt his lips on hers. His arms found there way around her pulling her in closer. Caroline tried to deepen the kiss when she felt her back hit the wall, Klaus's mouth was still on hers.
