Chapter Six: Plan B
I felt an arm sneak it's way around my waist and I smiled tiredly as Damon groaned into my neck. "Do we have to get up today?" He whispered before leaving a couple kisses on my neck.
I laughed before turning around in his arms to look into his baby blue eyes. "You're awful affectionate today." I pointed out softly, cupping his cheek as he smirked at me.
"You're awful cute with your hair looking like a bird's nest." Damon smirked while pulling on a few strings of hair.
I laughed as I slapped his hand away from my hair. I flipped onto my back and raised all my hair into a bun and slipped the elastic band I had on my wrist through my hair and turned my head to face Damon. "Maybe if you didn't pull me from across the bed when you get lonely at night, it wouldn't be such a mess in the morning."
"Maybe if you stayed near me, I wouldn't get lonely." Damon replied with his usual smirk.
"It gets hot in your room." I pointed out sitting up in the bed and fixing my shirt that started to flip up, showing half of my stomach.
"That's because I'm in here." Damon replied lazily.
"Iconic." I said sarcastically before getting up off the bed and making my way to the bathroom. I didn't make it five steps before Damon stepped in front of me. He smirked down at my overly large throw-on shirt and black sweat shorts before looking up at my face.
"Where do you think you're heading off to?" Damon asked and pulled a piece of hanging hair behind my ear.
I took his hand in mine and smiled innocently. "Taking a shower." I dropped his hand and moved around him, but he was fast. He grabbed me with one arm and threw me over his broad shoulder. I growled into his back as he smacked my ass that was over his shoulder.
He walked back over to his bed before throwing me on top of it. I landed with a over-exaggerated grunt and glared up at the vampire. He didn't seem phased by my glares- he's gotten them too many times to be affected by them anymore. Damon reached down, grabbed my ankles and pulled my towards him.
I huffed at him as my hair came over of it's bun. "Are you satisfied?" I asked pulling my hair back in a messy bun.
Damon smirked down at me before leaning to get closer to my face. He leaned over the bed and rested his forehead to mine. He leaned his lips onto mine in a warm kiss- once, twice, three times- before leaning back up, pulling me up with him. "I am now." He smirked before pushing me in the direction to the bathroom.
I shook my head at him as I made my way into the bathroom. I closed the door behind me and made sure to lock it. I didn't trust that he wouldn't peak inside while I was showering.
I turned on the shower and started getting ready for the day. I looked down at the shampoo and conditioner that I got for the house a while ago. I was here most of the time, sleeping over- not that Jenna knows that- so I figured that I would get some essentials that I usually use; shampoo, conditioner, razors, deodorant, clothes, underwear, etc.
I heard a knock on the front door downstairs and figured it was time to get out of the shower and get dressed. I grabbed the outfit that I picked out last night and slipped it on quickly. I didn't bother doing anything special for my hair, I just threw it up in a wet, messy bun to let it dry. I didn't bother with much makeup.
I heard talking coming from the main hallway, so when I was finished getting ready, I started heading in that direction. I reach the bottom of the stairs to see Damon and Jeremy at the door. I raised my eyebrow as I listened to their conversation, neither of them noticing I was there yet.
"Tyler Lockwood has to kill someone to activate his curse." Jeremy tried explaining to Damon when he tried closing the door. "He's not a werewolf yet."
"Wow." Damon said sarcastically. "Fascinating. Not enough." Damon tried closing the door on Jeremy again but Jeremy started with telling Damon more information.
"But Mason Lockwood is, and he's looking for a moon stone; a special rock connected to the werewolf legend. That's why he's here." Jeremy said keeping his hand on the door.
"A moonstone?" I asked climbing down the stairs. I figured it was time to show my face. Damon sighed when he heard my voice. He didn't bother to try and close the door on Jeremy again. He knew that if he tried, I would yell at him.
"I know where it is." Jeremy lifted the bag on his back higher up.
"Jeremy, I thought I told you to stay out of this. It's too dangerous." I sighed leaning against the doorway.
"Oh, come on, Raegan. Aren't you the least bit of curious about any of this?" Jeremy asked with a raised brow.
I sighed again and looked away from my little brother. I was suppose to be a role model for him, but instead I was showing him that it was okay to be curious about things that could kill you. And the award for Sister of the Year goes to...
"And you're bringing me this, why?" Damon asked curiously to Jeremy ignoring our little banter.
"Do I need a reason?" Jeremy asked holding his hands out in a shrug. "Look, I just want to help, okay?"
"I know what this sister," Damon raised his hand and pointed at me. "Says about this whole little discovery, but what about the other one?" Damon asked with an intense gaze. Jeremy didn't answer but he did look away for a second, long enough for Damon to know that he didn't say anything to Elena. "Oh, you haven't told her, have you?"
"Elena... or Raegan," He looked at me. "Don't want me getting involve in all of this."
"With good reason." I interrupted. Jeremy tried passing by Damon and I, but Damon pushed him back outside.
"And you're a Gilbert, and you just can't help yourself." Damon stated and I sighed but I knew it was true. "Wow. Your search for lifes purpose is as obvious as it is tragic."
"Damon." I slapped his arm but he wasn't phased, he was too into the staring contest he was having with my little brother.
"You going to let me in or not?" Jeremy asked with a sigh. I looked up at Damon to see what he was going to do. It was his house and his rules.
Finally after a few seconds, Damon stepped out of the way to allow Jeremy to get into the house. I sighed as I watched my brother go into the living room. I didn't want him involved in any of this as much as I wanted Elena involved in this. But this is the choice we had to stick with for telling him the truth about everything. It was stupid of us to think that he was going to stay out of the action for more than a week.
I heard the door open to the boarding house and I looked up from the book I was reading to see Ric coming into the house with a medium sized brown box in his arms.
"Ric." Damon greeted lightly.
"Hey." Ric replied back looking at Jeremy. Alaric dropped the box on the table behind me and moved closer to Jeremy. "What are you doing here?"
"Helping Damon and Raegan. I'm the one who found out about the moon stone." Jeremy replied looking at Alaric.
Ric looked at Damon and he just shrugged with an eye roll. "Does Elena know you're here?" Ric questioned before looking over at me. "You're okay with this?"
"Not exactly." Jeremy and I answered at the same time making us look at each other weirdly.
"What'cha got?" Damon asked getting back to the task at hand instead of family issues.
"This is Isobel's research from Duke. Her assistant sent it to me." Alaric explained looking at the box.
Damon hummed. "Vanessa." He said with a smirk. I scoffed and picked up the book I put down before throwing it at his back that was turned to me. It hit him with a loud thump before landing onto the floor with another loud bang. Damon turned to me with a smirk. He leaned over the couch and pinched my cheek. I slapped his hand away from my face with an eye roll. "Nice girl." Damon finished before looking at Ric.
"Yeah, Vanessa." Alaric nodded. "Now do you remember the old Aztec curse she told us about?"
"The sun and the moon. Blah, blah, blah..." Damon replied.
"Aztec curse, cool." Jeremy said going over to the two men.
I got up from the couch and walked around to get more into the conversation. "Not particularly." I replied shortly. "Apparently, vampires and werewolves use to roam freely until a shaman put a curse on them to limit their power." I said recalling what Vanessa talked about.
"Wow, you remember the story?" Damon whispered into my ear.
"Yeah, unlike you, I was actually listening instead of eye-fucking her." I replied back with a snap.
"She wasn't the one I was eye-fucking." Damon whispered into my ear for only me to hear. I felt the smirk on his lips from my ear and I started to feel the shivers run up and down my spine, making me get goosebumps on my arms.
"Since then," Alaric continued my story not hearing the conversation Damon and I just had a moment ago. "werewolves can only turn on a full moon and vampires are weakened by the sun."
Damon turned to Ric and we both flashed our hands with our rings on them. Alaric back tracked in his sentence. "Most of them, anyway." He corrected. "According to the legend, the werewolf part of the curse... it's sealed with the moon stone." Alaric picked up a drawing from the box and handed it over to Jeremy.
"What do you mean 'sealed'?" Jeremy questioned looking down at the old picture.
"It's a witch thing." Damon started to answer. "Whatever seals the curse is usually the key to unsealing the curse."
"Maybe Mason Lockwood believes he can use the moonstone to break the curse." Alaric spoke up. I looked over at him. He had a valid point. It was a good reason- other than the fact that your brother died- to come back home. If you knew that whatever curses you is at the place where you grew up, wouldn't you go back there just to get it?
"We started believing in some supernatural witchy-woo legend from a picture book, we're idiots." Damon said from the fireplace.
"Maybe not." I shrugged at him.
"Who has the stone now?" Damon questioned further.
"Tyler." Jeremy answered simply.
"Can you get it?" Damon asked another question.
"Yeah." Jeremy agreed with a nod.
"See, now your life has purpose." Damon said sarcastically.
"So, you do believe it?" I asked looking up at the blue eyed vampire.
"It's the same book that say a werewolf bite kills a vampire." Damon pointed out making Ric and I nod. "Ignoring it would make me an even bigger idiot." Damon walked away from the fireplace and back over to my side. "Let's go." He said downing the rest of his bourbon before placing the empty glass on the table.
"Damon? Raegan, what are you doing here?" Elena asked looking up at the both of us.
"Looking for my baby bro." Damon said with a sigh. "Speaking of, would you tell yours to stop following us around?"
"What's going on?" Elena questioned before looking over at me for an answer.
"Ask eager beaver." Damon replied sarcastically. Before turning away from Elena and I.
Jeremy came up to us at the perfect moment. "Jeremy, what is he making you do?" Elena asked looking at Jeremy.
"Why do you assume that this is Damon's doing?" I asked with a slight glare at Elena.
"He's not making me do anything. Damon and I-" Jeremy tried speaking but Elena stopped him.
"Uh, no way. No." Elena shook her head at Jeremy. "There's no Damon and you. There's Damon and whoever Damon's using." Elena glanced over at me when she said that, making my glare from before came back harder. "And those people, they end up dead." Another jab at me. "Whatever's going on, Jeremy, I want you to stay out of it."
"You're more strict than Raegan is, and she's older than you are." Jeremy pointed out with a shake of his head.
"And look where Raegan is now." Elena pointed out the fact that I was a vampire.
"Like this was my fault." I snapped with a glare. "If you want someone to blame, look at your precious boyfriend. He's the reason that Katherine's back in town." Elena glared over at me and was about to reply before Jeremy cut us off.
"Enough." Jeremy looked at the both of us. "I don't really care what either of you want. It's because of you that I'm in this mess in the first place, so- sorry, you don't really get to tell me what I'm going to do."
Jeremy walked away from the both of us before Elena could get another word in. I shook my head at her before passing her to find Damon and Stefan.
"Katherine's with Mason Lockwood?" I questioned again to try and get it through my head. Stefan sighed at me before nodding.
"We missed it. He got into town right after she did." Stefan said passing by Damon as they both paced the porch floor. I was leaning up against banister watching the two of them go back and forth. "It makes perfect sense."
"I know, but Mason Lockwood?" Damon questioned with a raised voice.
"Werewolf thing aside; the guy's a surfer." I shrugged my shoulders. "And he's not that bad looking." Damon growled and glared at me. "Oh, what you can look at Vanessa but I can't say that Mason is not bad looking?"
"Who's Vanessa?" Stefan questioned confused about the whole thing.
"I didn't check her out. I told you that." Damon slapped his hand on his leg and I rolled my eyes at him.
"Whatever." I sighed. "Katherine has to be using Mason."
"Using him for that?" Stefan questioned with furrowed brows.
"Mason Lockwood's looking for a moonstone that allegedly can break the full moon werewolf curse." Damon explained boredly to Stefan.
"Maybe Katherine wants it as well." I shrugged putting in my two cents.
"Why?" Stefan asked us.
"Well..." Damon and I looked at each other. "No idea." Damon finished. "It's the beauty of Katherine. She's always up to something."
"So, how are we going to find this moonstone?" Stefan called out to Damon, but sneaked a peak at me to see if I could answer as well.
"Jeremy's getting it from Tyler." Damon stated easily.
Stefan looked at me shocked but I sighed and shrugged my shoulders. "Why would you involve Jeremy?" Stefan questioned Damon. Stefan walked passed Damon and slapped his shoulder with the back of his hand. I laughed silently before following Stefan's lead.
"He's playing Indiana Jones." I rolled my eyes at the thought of my brother.
"He's involved himself." Damon finished for me. Stefan waved Damon off before walking away. I shrugged at Damon before following after him to find my brother.
"Hey, man." I looked down at the crowd of people to see Jeremy walking up to Tyler to greet him.
"Hey." Tyler nodded at him.
"Hey, so, I did a little research on that stone you showed me." Jeremy started and Tyler turned around to look at him.
"What? Why?" Tyler asked confused, but also a little defensive. I shared a look with the two Salvatore brother next to me before looking back down to Tyler and Jeremy.
"I dunno." Jeremy shrugged. "Curiosity. Boredom." Jeremy listed off reasons why he 'looked up' information on the moonstone.
"What'd it say?" Tyler asked curiously to Jeremy.
"Well, it turns out it's part of this Aztec legend, but I want to make sure it's the same kind of stone. You think I could, uh, check it out again?" Jeremy asked. I smirked a little at how well my brother was playing off this lie.
"Nope. Gave it to my uncle." Tyler shook his head at Jeremy before passing him.
"Why'd you do that?" Jeremy asked following Tyler.
Tyler turned back to Jeremy. "Because I'm done with legends and curses. I don't want anything to do with it, okay?"
Jeremy laughed it off like it wasn't a big deal but by the look on all of our faces, it was a big deal. "Yeah, yeah. Sure." Jeremy shrugged Tyler off. "It's probably just, uh, stupid folklore anyways."
We all turned away from the two boys around the crowd of people to look at each other. I was pretty sure that we all had the same thought: Find Bonnie.
I looked over at Stefan to see him texting Elena. I smirked because she was probably going crazy with worry. I looked up when we started to stop.
"Okay, okay." Bonnie said turning to us. "This is as far as I go."
"Okay." Damon agreed.
"What do you want?" Bonnie asked looking at each of our faces.
"A favor." I began with a soft voice.
"Like that's going to happen." Bonnie said looking at me with slitted eyes.
"So predictable." Damon said with a low voice. "That's why we brought him." He looked over to his little brother.
Stefan sighed before looking at Bonnie. "I know how you feel about helping us out, but since you're the one that linked Mason with Katherine, we finally have an opportunity to get an upper hand on both of them, so just hear us out." Stefan begged.
"Pretty please." Damon said quickly and I rolled my eyes at him.
"I'm listening." Bonnie spoke while Stefan's phone started to ring. I groaned internally because I knew that it was Elena.
"I have to fill Elena in with what's going on. I know you'll behave." Stefan said looking down at me before turning to his brother. "But can you play nice, please?"
"All you have to do is touch Mason Lockwood again to see if he gave Katherine the stone." Damon explained like it was an easy task to do.
"My visions don't work like that. I don't get to ask questions. Raegan knows that." Bonnie said pointing to me.
"Do I?" I questioned, pointing out the fact that I haven't spoken to her since I've become a vampire.
"How inconvenient." Damon sighed lowly. "Although, let's talk about that little witchy-juju thing you do with me. You know, the fun one where my brain bursts into flames?" Damon said sarcastically with a slight eye roll. "What is that?"
"That's me giving you an aneurism." Bonnie explained.
"Lovely." I said sarcastically under my breath.
"Your blood vessels go pop, but you heal quickly, so I do it over and over again." Bonnie said with a wicked gaze.
"Is it vampire-specific?" Damon asked already thinking of another plan. I caught onto what he was thinking of doing. He wanted to try it on Mason, but after that I don't know what he was planning on doing.
"It'd work on anyone with a supernatural healing ability." Bonnie explained.
"Good, good." Damon nodded.
"Damon." Bonnie interrupted Damon's good vibe. "I'm not going to help you hurt him."
"Mason Lockwood is a werewolf. Katherine's evil. They're the bad guys." Damon explained slowly to try and get it through her head. "Really? You're going to play morality police with me right now?"
"Especially when you'll hurt us, or even kill us, the second you get?" I questioned her thoughts. She didn't understand who the ally or the enemy was, and right now: Mason Lockwood was the enemy. "Let me put it to you in another way: they're a threat to Elena." I said knowing that she'll consider it if Elena was in trouble.
"So you, witch, are going to get over yourself and help us." Damon said looking down at Bonnie with a crisinum gaze.
Stefan came back over to us when he was off the phone with Elena. "Yeah, he meant that as a question, with a 'please' at the end."
"Absolutely." Damon agreed quickly.
Bonnie looked between the three of us, but I could already see that she made up her mind. I smirked down at the witch and relaxed my stance.
"Hey, can you move your van?" I heard Mason's voice ask another person from where I was hiding in the trees. "I'm blocked in." Mason walked down the stairs over to his vehicle. He looked over at Bonnie, who was playing the damsel in distress, and started walking over to her. She was 'trying to get a whole table down by herself'. See? Damsel in distress. "Hey, how'd you get roped in doing that by yourself?" He questioned lightly.
"All the guys bailed." Bonnie said with a out of breath voice, still holding up the table. "Something about draft picks? I don't know, I don't speak that language."
Mason was over by her by now and helped her lift the table and set it on the ground. "Here, let me give you a hand."
Bonnie let go of the table and started using her magic on him. He stopped holding the table and grabbed onto his head as he grunted and groaned from the pain. I haven't experienced it myself, but I could only imagine what it felt like having your blood vessels pop every minute.
By this time, Damon and I came out of the woods and made our way over to Bonnie and Mason- who was now on his knees on the ground in pain, still holding his head.
"I'm sorry." Bonnie whispered lightly as Damon came forward and kneed Mason in the face. Mason went down, out like a light from the impact, and Damon didn't waste anytime in opening Mason's car door. He nodded his head for her to get in and she looked at me with a tired expression before getting into the car.
I sighed as I turned to face Stefan. We both shared the same look: This wasn't going to be good.
Stefan picked up Mason's car keys on the ground and threw them to Damon as he closed the door for Bonnie. We all stepped towards Mason and picked him up to set him into the back. I let go for a second to open the trunk and then stepped aside for the boys to stuff him in. They rolled him in and I closed the trunk behind him.
I jumped into the vacant front seat and Damon jumped into the driver's side before we took off down the road. Stefan claimed that he was going to stay to watch out for Elena, or something like that.
I glanced into the side mirror to see Bonnie with her usual poker face on, looking out the window. I sighed as I leaned back in my seat. It's going to take a while before she starts to actually talk to me again.
I watched Damon carry Mason over his shoulder like it wasn't an issue that he had a full grown man weighing him down. I followed after him with Bonnie behind me carrying the chains that we were going to use to lock Mason down with.
"Here's his bag." Bonnie said putting it down on the ground. "As requested."
Damon didn't answer, but he did set Mason's body in a chair in front of the fire place. I sat down on the couch, not wanting to help Damon, not that he needed it.
"Okay, grab that corner." Damon said pointing to the cloth cover over the carpet. Bonnie sighed but grabbed the corner to help him out.
"Why are we doing this?" Bonnie questioned not understanding.
"Because he doesn't want to stain the carpet." I said with an eye roll. Damon looked up at me before nodded at what I said. He knew I was right.
"I knew it was something like that." Bonnie said with a glare on her face from the sun hitting her.
"Judging again." Damon pointed out before sighing and stepping back to look at his work.
"He's not going to be out much longer." I pointed out looking over at Mason before glancing at Damon who was looking through Mason's bag.
"Woah." Damon said with a surprised expression. He picked up the chains in the bag and looked over at us. "Looks like this guy's used to being tied up." Damon walked over to Mason before starting with the chains.
Bonnie walked in front of Mason and grabbed his head. She concentrated for a second before Damon interrupted her. "What are you doing?" He asked looking up.
"You're looking for a moonstone, I'm trying to help you find it." Bonnie explained.
"Oh, good. Yeah." Damon nodded his head at what Bonnie was doing. "Find out if he gave it to Katherine, and find out where she is." Damon moved to the other side of Mason. "And find out what they're going to do with it once they get it."
Bonnie started concentrating again and I watched her carefully. I was intrigued in what she was doing at the moment. "Somewhere small." Bonnie explained what she saw behind her eyes. "Dark." She continued slowly. "There's water."
"Like a sewer?" I asked from my spot on the couch.
"No." Bonnie shook her head. "Like a well?" She said in a question still not exactly knowing herself. "That can't be right." She whispered before nodding. "Yeah, it's a well."
"Why would it be in a well?" Damon questioned looking over at me. I shrugged my thin shoulders at him.
"I told you, I only get what I get." Bonnie said before she gasps. I looked down to see Mason grabbing her arm. I jumped up from the couch and grabbed his hand. I twisted it enough for her to get loose. "That's it. That's all I got." Bonnie said moving away from us. She turned away before leaving the room.
Before she was all the way out, Damon called her back. "Hey, judgey." Bonnie looked back at him. "Thank you." Damon said sincerely and I smiled at him. He was making progress.
Bonnie didn't say anything but you could tell that she was starting to think about everything she's ever thought about vampires. Well, almost.
"Come on." Damon said looking down at Mason and also breaking me out of my thoughts. I sighed as I went back over to my spot on the couch. "Wake up, wolf boy." Damon said before he lifted his hand and gave Mason a large slap on the face.
I saw Mason wake up, only because his eyes were landed on me. Mason looked away and back up to Damon in time to see him grab a pointer for the fire and set it in the fire for it to get hot.
I felt my phone vibrate and I looked down to see Bonnie texted me. I opened it up and saw that she found where the moonstone was and then gave me where. I looked up to Damon and sighed. I got up from the couch and went over to him.
I leaned down close to him so that Mason wouldn't hear what I was saying. "Bonnie's found it. I'm going to go help. You alright here?" I asked looking over at Mason. He was starting to move around, trying to get out of the chair.
"I'll be fine." Damon smirked in my direction while holding up the pointer. "Go get the moonstone." He whispered before going back to the fire.
I nodded and leaned in to place a kiss on his cheek. "Be careful. Call me if you need anything." I whispered quietly before getting up and running out the door.
I started running to the old Lockwood Mansion where Bonnie said the well was. I remember playing near it with Elena, Caroline, and Bonnie when we were younger. It shouldn't be too hard to find.
I ran into the field where I know the well is to see Stefan coming near it also. "Bonnie?" I questioned speaking out loud.
He nodded his head and walked over to the well. I followed his lead until I heard another set of foot steps coming near us. I turned around to see Elena coming into the field as well.
"What's going on?" Elena asked making Stefan turned around from looking into the well.
"You shouldn't be here." Stefan shook his head at her.
"I know, but I am." Elena sighed coming to the other side of Stefan, while I was on his right. "What's going on?" Elena asked for the second time.
"Bonnie thinks the moonstone is down here." I said looking at the well. Stefan grabbed the lock that was on the top of the well and pulled it until it finally broke loose. He threw it over his shoulder and I helped him lift up the cover.
We both threw it to the side and looked down into the well again. Something felt off about this well, but I couldn't put my tongue on it. Stefan grabbed the flashlight that he brought with him before turning it on and looking down with it. It didn't help much, the well was too far down.
Stefan sighed before he jumped onto the well. I grabbed the flashlight and jumped up as well. Stefan looked back at me and I raised my eye brow. "It'll be faster if you have four hands instead of two." I replied lightly. He nodded with a sigh before turning to Elena who touched his arm.
"Be careful." She said lightly making me think back to earlier when I told Damon the same thing.
"We'll only be down there for a minute." Stefan said reassuring Elena.
Stefan and I looked at each other before we jumped down at the same time, landing with a slash in the water. I felt a burning sensation start from the lower half of my body and I looked up at Stefan with a shocked face. Vervain.
"Elena!" Stefan called up to her from the bottom of the well. I dropped the light that was in my burnt hand from the vervain and I tried to get as close to the wall as I could, but the vervain was everywhere.
"Elena!" I tried calling up to her also, getting desperate.
"Stefan? Raegan!" Elena called back down to us with worry. I could hear Stefan start to panic and it was only going to make this situation worse. "What's happening?!" Elena called back down.
I grabbed onto a rock that seemed like I could jumped up and out of the well from, but it fell apart from how old this well was. I growled under my breath and I turned around to Stefan to see him doing the same thing as I was.
"What's going on in there!" Elena called down again when she didn't get an answer.
"Vervain!" I shouted up through the hole. My legs were starting to get numb at this point. It was taking longer for me to get hurt then it was Stefan. I drank vervain, but he was totally weakened by it. He was going to die if we didn't get him out of here, and fast.
"Stefan! Raegan!" Elena called down before jumping out of our sight.
"Stefan, you need to get out." I said with a breathless voice. "If I can hold you up long enough-"
"It won't work." Stefan coughed. "The vervain's weakening us too much."
"Stefan! Raegan!" Elena called back down to us before I heard Caroline's voice.
"Elena!" Caroline shouted.
"Caroline, Stefan and Raegan are down there and the chain is rusted- no, no, no!" Elena shouted making me believe that Caroline was going to jump down. I glanced at Stefan to see him getting weaker. Hurry up, Elena. "You can't. It's filled with vervain!"
"Oh, God." I heard Caroline whisper softly.
"Caroline, we've got to get them out of there!" Elena shouted again. "Now!"
I heard a bunch of movement making me believe they were trying to figure out a way to get us out. I coughed and slipped in the water, making me go under. I swam to the top and started having a couch attack. Every inch of my skin was burning, even worse now because I went under.
"Raegan..." I heard Stefan call me quietly but I shook him off.
"I'm fine." I coughed.
"I've got you." I heard Caroline reassure Elena and I looked up from the spot I was in to see Elena getting lowered into the well.
"What's going on?" I heard Bonnie question, now joining the party. "You just took off in a blur."
"I heard Elena screaming." Caroline explained. Every word that they were saying was getting quieter and quieter. It started to sound more like they were yards away instead of feet. "Help her, now!"
"You ready?" I heard someone ask but I couldn't figure out who. It was all too blurred together. I glanced over at Stefan to see him faced down in the water. He was passed out. I coughed as I made my way over to him slowly. I lifted him up out of the water and leaned him against me. Come on, Stefan.
I heard a gasp and metal being dragged against each other and I looked up to see Elena almost falling in before someone caught her. "Sorry!" They shouted.
"It's okay, keep going!" Elena shouted back before she started coming down again.
Elena finally got down into the water and she made her way over to us and gasped.
"Get Stefan..." I said handing him over to the chain. She looked at me quickly before nodding and setting Stefan up in the chain.
"Elena, what's going on down there?" I heard someone shout down into the hole and I looked up but couldn't see anything other than a bright light.
"Pull him up!" Elena shouted making it echo in the small hole. I groaned and leaned against the wall as I felt myself slipping further. Elena turned around and helped me stand up straighter. "Come on, Raegan. Stay with me." She begged into my ear as Stefan got lifted up into the air.
The chain got sent down again and Elena pulled me over to the middle and set me up into the chain. I groaned as the cold metal scraped again my wounds but didn't say anything, mostly because I didn't have the energy.
"Pull her up!" Elena shouted up again and I was being lifted up into the air. I would have held onto the metal, but I couldn't find it in me to lift my hand and pull myself up.
I felt hands grab me as I started to get into the bright light that I saw earlier and I looked to see Bonnie and Caroline lifting me out of the chains and over the well's wall. I felt myself being lowered onto the ground and I couldn't feel anything other than the pressure from my wounds. It was starting to make the world go black.
"Elena...for you!" I heard Caroline shout from somewhere but I didn't get a lot of the sentence.
"Hold...find...stone!" They shouted back. I opened my eyes and looked around but I couldn't see Elena anywhere. I coughed up blood and turned onto my side. It was the only way that I was going to get the blood out of my mouth.
I started to hear someone screaming and I wanted to help, but I couldn't get my eyes open, let alone get up and help.
"...going on!" I heard someone shout.
More screaming.
And then it all stopped. Everything. The sound of the wind. The screaming. The movement. The scents, the feeling, the touch. Everything was gone, it all just turned to black. Until...
"Raegan, get up. Come on!" I heard Elena shout into my ear as something slid down my throat. I could start to feel her hand behind my head, lifting me up and her other hand on my mouth. I could taste the blood starting to go down my throat and making me stronger. "Open your eyes. I got the moonstone, Raegan." She said into my ear and I tried to open my eyes, but all I saw was a bright light flashing at me.
I tried again and I looked up to see Elena with a look of relief on her face. "Thank God." She whispered softly. I pulled her hand away as I started to feel better, and sat up from the ground.
I looked over at my baby sister, and our friends. "Thank you." I whispered to them all, but mostly Elena. She didn't have to get me her blood, but she did.
"You're welcome." Elena whispered quietly.
I stopped in the forest when I saw a couple birds, squirrels, and bunnies around to get my strength back up and now I was on my way back to the boarding house. Stefan went with Elena to our house so I knew it was only going to be Damon and Caroline there, and possibly Mason. Which leads me to my tense figure. I wanted revenge.
I slammed the door open and went into the room I knew Damon was in. "Is he dead?" I said looking down at the cover that was in a cocoon on the ground.
"As a doornail." Damon said sarcastically before looking up at me. "What happened?"
"Vervain." I snarled angrily. "In the well. Stefan and I went down. Elena and Caroline saved us. I almost died, along with Stefan, for the second time this week." Damon got up and started walking over to me during my rant. "Elena saved me by giving me blood. I drank bunny blood for the first time- it was bad." Damon lifted his hand and placed it on my cheek and looked into my eyes. "And that brings me to now." I ended weakly. "What about you?"
Damon sighed. "Injured him, although he healed quickly. You little brother showed up with some wolfs-bane. Fed it to Mason. He was convinced that he loved Katherine and that she loved him. I told him otherwise. Threatened your brother until he left. Then killed Mason." He ended with a soft voice. "And that brings me to now." He quoted me.
I sighed and leaned into him, wrapping my arms around his middle. "Today's been a long day." I said into his chest.
He hummed into my hair in agreement. "It has."
The front door opened behind me and I looked up to see Stefan coming into the house. He flashed the moonstone at Damon and we pulled apart.
"All this for that?" Damon questioned looking at the small rock.
"Yep." Stefan agreed with a sigh. He threw the stone over to Damon and he caught it in his hands. "I see you've exercised your usual restraint." Stefan said looking down at the sheets covered in body and covering Mason's dead body.
Damon shrugged with his hands up. "Had to be done." He looked down at the ground before picking up Mason's wallet and phone. He passed the wallet to me before he started texting on the phone. "Carol..." He started. "Big opportunity in Florida, gonna be gone for a long time. I'll send my for my things once I get settled. Much love, Mason." He ended before sending the message and handing the phone over to me.
"Let's get rid of the body." Stefan said and Damon nodded as I looked through the phone.
"Ooh." I said out loud as I saw the last number dialed on the phone. "Last number that was dialed... I wonder." I smirked down at the phone.
"No, no, no. Don't provoke her!" Stefan said trying to get the phone out of my hands but I already hit call and put the phone up to my ear with a smirk.
"Mason." I heard a voice that sounded like Elena's voice on the other side but I knew otherwise. I dodged another one of Stefan's attempts to grab me as Damon watched with an intense look, probably listening into the call. "You should have been here an hour ago."
"Oh, I'm sorry. I've missed our date." I said slapping away Stefan's hand for the phone with a smirk.
"Who is this?" Katherine demanded over the phone.
"Oh, we haven't met officially. I'm Raegan." I said with a huge smirk on my phone. Stefan sighed knowing that it was useless now.
"Damon's toy." Katherine snarled over the phone. "For once you guys surprised me. I assume Mason's with you."
I looked down at the dead body on the ground with an inquired look. "Oh, yeah. We just got done playing Yahtzee." I said sarcastically with an eye roll. Damon chuckled at me from his spot on the couch. "He's right beside me. Although... his heart is across the room."
It was quiet on the other end of the line until she spoke with a low voice. "You shouldn't have." She said as Damon came closer to me. He grabbed the phone out of my hand and I let him as I sat down on top of the the counter.
"She didn't, but I did." Damon said with a smirk.
"Damon." She growled.
"I've had a very busy day today." Damon replied and leaned between my legs. "Killed a werewolf. Found a moonstone. Hey, did you know that he hide the moonstone in a bottom of a well full of vervain? Guess he didn't trust you very much. Although, he did love you. Poor guy." Damon tsked. "Hey, where are you? 'Cause, you know, I could bring him over. Last goodbyes and all that."
"You have no idea what you've just done." Katherine threatened over the phone.
"Awe, did I put a kink in your master plan? I'm so sorry." Damon replied sarcastically.
"Do you honestly believe that I don't have a plan B?" Katherine asked over the phone. "And if that fails, a plan C, then a plan D, and- well, you know how the alphabet works, don't you?" Katherine said sarcastically. "Send my love to Stefan." She said before hunging up.
I sighed as Damon jumped off from leaning on me and looked at Stefan and I with a poker face.
"Well, that went well, didn't it?" Stefan said sarcastically with a 'I told you so' expression.
A phone call from my cell broke everyone out of their thoughts and I looked down to see Elena calling. I rushed over and answered it immediately. "Hello?" I said breathless.
"Jenna stabbed herself in the stomach because Katherine compelled her to. She got inside the house, Raegan. She compelled Jenna to spy on Stefan and I." Elena explained with a fearful tone.
"Where are you?" I asked grabbing Damon's keys off the counter.
"At the hospital." Elena replied shortly.
"I'll be right there."I said before hanging up the phone and sharing a look with the two Salvatore brothers. Here's plan B.
I walked out with Elena to see Jeremy sitting down on the hospital chair. Once he saw us coming out, he plopped his coffee on the table and got up. "Is she okay?"
"The doctors told Alaric that she got lucky." I explained with tearful eyes. "She's gonna make it." I nodded to him.
"She's going to be okay." Elena nodded along with me.
"Does she remember what happened?" Jeremy asked. Elena told him the same thing she told me. Katherine compelled her to do everything.
"No, nothing." Elena shook her head. "It's all part of Katherine's mind compulsion."
"Why would Katherine hurt Jenna?" Jeremy questioned lightly. I wasn't sure myself. I didn't understand why she was injuried unless Katherine wanted Jenna to get so injured I would heal her with my blood so she could kill Jenna and make her into a vampire. But I wasn't positive that was the reason.
"Because she's trying to send a message." Elena explained softly. "That she could get to anybody." Elena ran her hand through her hair as she started to cry.
She tried turning away from us, but we just pulled her back. "Hey." I said softly running my fingers through her straight hair.
Jeremy pulled both of us into a hug and sighed into our hair. "It's going to be okay."
"No, it's not." Elena shook her head.
"She's going to pay, Elena." I vowed over Jeremy's shoulder. "I don't know how, and I don't know when. But she's going to pay."
I walked into the boarding house and set down Damon's key. I looked up in time for Damon to rush over to me and pull me into a hug. I sighed into the hug as I felt tears start to fall down my face again and into Damon's neck. "I shouldn't have called her-"
"Shh." Damon shook his head. "I riled her up-"
I pulled away from him as I shook my head. "No, this was my fault. I did this. I put Jenna in the hospital. If I didn't call Katherine-"
"If you didn't call Katherine, I would have." Damon interrupted pulling me back into a hug. "It was bound to happen. Like Katherine said, she had a plan everything. She's always one step ahead."
"It was foolish to think that we could actually get to her." I shook my head in Damon's shoulder. I pulled away from him and sighed. "I need to get home. Elena needs me tonight, just like Stefan needs you." I said referring to the fact that they actually did break up this time.
"I know." Damon nodded.
I leaned up and kissed Damon lightly on the lips before pulling away. "Goodnight, Damon." I sighed and turned around and opened the door.
"Goodnight, Raegan." I heard before I closed the door behind me and ran all the way to my house.
I entered the silent house and went up to Elena's room. It seems like it's been forever since I've set foot in this house, let alone go into Elena's room. I opened the door to see her crying on her bed. I slipped off my shoes and crawled into bed with her. She looked up at me and started sobbing again. I pulled her into a hug the best I could while we were laying down and sighed into her hair. I wasn't going to tell her it was going to be alright, because it wasn't. She was heartbroken and Jenna was in the hospital, and Katherine was running around one step ahead of all of us, already knowing what she was going to do next. We just needed to keep an eye out for what that was.
