Chapter 27: Nayug's Calling

Yusei found himself coming out of the King of the Underworld. His dragon caught his two friends before bringing them to the ground where they were met by the others. They were happy for a second, cheering the fact that they one and the city was seeming to have been rebuilt.

That's when they noticed that Yusei didn't seem as elated at them. "Yusei…?" Luna called.

"It's time, isn't it?" Akiza checked.

"Just about," he answered.

"Yusei, there has to be a way to save you," Jack stated.

"Are you sure you and the egg don't know the spell that you mentioned from centuries ago?" Crow asked.

"What spell?" Akiza asked.

"Centuries ago, there was a guardian like me who was able to be spared from the Rarunga and the egg was still able to hatch," Yusei began. "A Magic Weaver close to the guardian and another person who was close was needed to do the spell. They would then use the spell and extract the egg from the guardian's body. But the process does risk the guardian's life and is extremely painful, more painful than being ripped part. But the spell's been long forgotten in history. There isn't a way to find out what it is or how to do it."

"So, it's either we figure out this spell fast and risk killing you as well as dealing you more pain than we'll ever experience, or we let you die?" Jack broke down.

"Pretty much," Yusei answered.

That's when his chest began to glow and he seemed to go into a daze or trance, making them all call in worry, "Yusei!"

He suddenly bolted towards the ocean and disappeared into the water. They saw his glow for a bit, but he quickly disappeared in a flash.

"That egg must've taken control of him," Trudge commented.

"But where did he go then?" Luna asked.

"I'm guessing to the realm of the spirits, Nayug he called it," Mina suggested.

"Yeah," Crow agreed. "But we can't get to him, then. We're not connected to Nayug like he is. He's the only one ever able to go there." They turned, however, as the Crimson Dragon came down and wrapped around them.

When they opened their eyes, they saw they were dropped onto a rocky ledge, staircase hill like terrain. In front of that was an ice covered terrain and a small hole in the ice near the rocks, filled with water. Trudge and Mina weren't around, so the Signers knew they were still at Earth. After all, the scarce creatures they saw around them that they could see obviously weren't from their planet. They soon noticed, however, a person climb out of the hole in the ice and onto the ground.

"Yusei!" Luna called.

Once he was on the ground, he kneeled there, panting a bit. But he didn't seem that wet, shockingly. He was completely dry, to be honest. His chest wasn't glowing. But it was quick to glow again making him turn to it. They heard a growl, though, and they all flipped to the ice.

That's when a monstrous creature broke through the ice. Its legs were a dark green, and octopus or root like. On top of the legs was a fat body with a beak like mouth in its top and about six, sharp, pointed arms jutted from around the beak.

"That's the Rarunga?" Leo muttered in worry.

Yusei immediately bolted for the rocks and, once he reached them, began to climb them. He turned back and looked as the Rarunga got closer and closer. The other five immediately bolted to get to Yusei.

"There has to be a way to kill that thing," Crow commented.

"I remember learning once that in ancient times, each elements had a weakness that was different from today. Water was weak to Earth and Earth is weak to fire," Akiza told them.

"And if the water spirit egg is weak enough to allow Yusei to get killed by that thing, then the Rarunga is an Earth spirit," Jack reasoned.

"So it has to be weak to fire," Akiza finished. "If we use our dragons, it might help us kill the Rarunga while we figure out how to get the egg out of Yusei."

"Right," they agree.

They looked to see Yusei had gotten fairly high on the rocks, but the Rarunga wasn't far behind. They quickly climbed the ledges until they were beside Yusei, who seemed shocked.

"What're you guys doing here? Or better yet, how are you here?" the Signer of the Head asked.

"We're here to keep you alive and safe from the Rarunga. The Crimson Dragon brought us here to do so," Crow explained.

"I told you guys, there's nothing you can do that'll let the egg hatch and save my life," Yusei retorted. "You guys need to get out of here."

They looked as the Rarunga got ever so closer. Akiza immediately summoned her Black Rose Dragon and it just as quickly began to blast fire at the spirit. That one was quick to fall back into the water, dead. They looked further out to see three more Rarunga nearing.

"There are more of them?" Leo asked.

"Guys, get out of here," Yusei tried again. "I'm not letting you get hurt because of this." That's when his chest began to glow while he winced in pain and groaned while going to one knee, holding his chest tight.

"Yusei!" Crow called in alarm, while Akiza kept most of her focus on her dragon.

"It… It wants to hatch here…" the guardian told them, straining with the pain. "It wants to… to come out… It's the reason it doesn't want you to kill the Rarunga."

"Well, it's not coming out and hatching by those means," Jack denied.

"Guys, I need more dragons," Akiza called. All but Yusei, as he was in too much pain to look, turned to see more and more Rarunga coming to get Yusei. Jack, Luna, and Leo handed their dragons while Crow handed his Blackwing Armor Master, seeing physical attacks could help as well. "Thanks." She summoned them and they took to the skies to burn and fight the spirits.

"Yusei, we have to get you out of here," Crow told him.

"Yeah, if you're not here, the Rarunga can't get you," Leo agreed.

"Even… if I wanted to leave… I can't. The egg… The egg won't allow me to leave," Yusei explained worrying them. "Just go!"

They heard a ferocious roar of anger and they looked to see an army of Rarunga with too many of them to count. If something didn't happen soon, they would probably be killed with Yusei.
