Chapter 28- The Truth Comes Pouring Out

Rose's POV

Rose waited with baited breath as Grant continued to smirk. "It was your dear cousin."

Rose's eyes widened upon hearing that it was one of her family members, "Who?" she demanded.

"Take a wild guess," Grant said, toying with her.

"I don't have time for this, tell me who it was or I'll…" Rose started angrily.

Grant chuckled, "Or you'll what? Merlin Rose. I'll tell you what, you let me come with you so I can see you blast the balls off of your poor cousin and I'll name him."

Rose clasped her hand around her wand tighter. It could have only been Louis, Fred, James or Albus. And the more she thought about it, the more she began to realize who might have been behind all of this.

"Figured it out have you?" Grant asked.

"Maybe," Rose muttered. "But I have one question," she continued.

Grant stood up straighter and listened. "Why are you being like this?" Rose asked.

It must have caught him off guard because he didn't look as cocky as he had been. It took a second before he answered, "Isn't it obvious? You were engaged to me and now you've decided to go cheat and run off with a prick."

"You didn't seen all too angry with me when you were trying to get me to not call off the wedding," Rose inquired. "In fact, it didn't seem to phase you at all." If I were in love with someone, I don't think I would forgive them so easily, she thought.

"Moment of weakness I suppose," Grant replied indifferently.

And without caring what would happen, she grabbed Grant's arm suddenly and apparated away. The last thing she heard was him cussing at being dragged along for a ride to the ministry.

"You crazy bitch!" Grant howled when they appeared. Rose looked back and saw Grant nursing his leg. His trousers were a deep shade of red but Rose didn't care if she had to haul his bum all the way there, she was going to find out the truth. She casted a quick healing spell that would stop the bleeding for the time being and she continued down the hall.

She bursted through the atrium dragging Grant along who was helpless resisting her but it was no use. She was going to get the truth; the whole truth and she wanted every party to be in the same room so there wouldn't be any lies. Other witches and wizards looked at her weirdly and worriedly but she was too focused to care. Finally through a maze of corridors, she blasted the wooden door open without a care.

"Tell me you didn't do something stupid!" Rose demanded as she slammed Grant onto the chair next to her as she waited for an answer.

Albus only sat there with his hands by his face in defense, Rose's sudden appearance and accusation certainly caught him off guard but that wasn't to say he wasn't expecting it.

"Rose…" Albus started.

"I'm reporting your arse to the ministry about this!" Grant said. Without a word, Rose pulled out her wand and wordlessly with a flick of her wand; Grant's words were suddenly silent.

"Albus Severus Potter, tell me you didn't do it!" Rose yelled as if Grant had never interrupted.

"I didn't do it," Albus said hesitantly.

Rose sighed with relief. "So it's not true," she asked in an almost pleading way.

"Rose, I don't think I'm the one you should be asking," Albus mumbled as he looked away.

"What the hell is that suppose to mean?" Rose demanded.

"Rose, calm down," Albus said as he walked around the desk and tried to push Rose down onto the chair next to the silent Grant.

"Tell me he wasn't playing a game with me Albus," Rose continued.

Albus sighed and from his reaction, Rose could see already that Grant hadn't been lying. Albus hadn't been involved but he knew about it. And in his brief silence, Rose understood. She stood up abruptly and pushed Albus away. "James better be in his office when I get there," she said warningly. She needed to be able to ask James but didn't need Albus sending a floo message telling his brother to hide because she was coming for him.

"I'm sorry Rose," Albus said.

"Don't!" Rose started. "Say you're sorry. You're suppose to be my best friend! You're my cousin. And for Merlin's sake, Al! I know James can be a little thick sometimes but you? I expected more from you Al." Rose dragged Grant up by the arm and started for the door.

"Just so you know, he wasn't lying about how felt about you," Albus said.

Rose froze at the door for a few seconds before storming off without saying another word.

Rose entered the office that belonged to James Sirius Potter. But before she had a chance to do anything, she saw a flash of red fly by her ear while she took cover. When she looked up again, she saw the arrogant smirk on her cousin's face as he blew the tip of his wand as if he were an American cowboy. She knew her mother's muggle influence on her cousins wasn't a good thing.

The next thing she knew, she heard a thud next to her. She quickly snapped her head around and saw that Grant was knocked out cold. James must have casted a stunning spell. But she was in no mood to wonder how he knew to strike so quickly and why. She pulled out her own wand and pointed it at her cousin.

"Thanks Red," he said easily.

"For what?" she asked between gritted teeth. Sure she was angry with Grant but if anyone were going to stun the jerk, it would be her.

"For bringing over the prick so I could do what I've been wanting to do all along," he said quite seriously.

Rose had enough of the puzzle games, "Why did you do it James?"

"Why don't you ask him," James said as he looked to his right. Rose whipped her head to the direction James was looking at and to her surprise; Scorpius was standing there the whole time.

Rose immediately turned back to James; she didn't want to see his face. It was all to soon and she couldn't help the tingling knots that formed in her stomach in his presence. "You have a mouth, just tell me!" Rose demanded.

"He was playing you Rosie! I was doing you a favor," James said.

Rose couldn't believe the words that were coming out of his mouth, "What are you talking about?"

"Scorpius overheard Grant and his mates talking in a bar last month. How he was just marrying you to get the fame and glory of being a part of the Weasley-Potter family. He was going to leave you after half a year once he got a good enough position in the ministry," James explained.

"And you expect me to believe that he came running to you about this? How do you know he was telling the truth?" Rose asked, pointing at Scorpius.

"Hah, I was over at Albus' that night and received a floo call from the bar owner to come pick my pissed drunk friend up because he was causing a scene. Al was asleep already so I decided to go see which of his friends I could have a laugh at. To my surprise, it was Mr. Perfect here. Didn't know where he was at when I picked him up but he must have thought I was Al because he started asking me if I had beat up your fiancé yet," James said as he walked closer to her.

Rose gripped her wand tight and James seems to realize for he stopped approaching her. "Why didn't you just tell me?" she asked.

"Because you wouldn't believe it! You were so in love with him, you were blind."

"You are so unbelievable James. Do you care about anyone's feelings but your own?" Rose asked.

"I cared enough about yours didn't I? I stopped you from marrying this prick," James pointed at the unconscious Grant.

"But I still got hurt didn't I?" Rose asked and this time; she flashed a look at Scorpius before looking at James.

James furrowed his brow, "You were going to get hurt anyway. Grant tricked you. I was just trying to make it so that you would leave him on your own terms and dump him."

"Who the hell cares I was the one who got to dump him!" Rose yelled at her cousin's limited reasoning.

"You want to be dumped by him?" James asked incredulously.

"And how did you figure I was going to leave someone I loved without falling for someone else!" Rose blurted out. She quickly realized she had said too much, especially with Scorpius still in the room.

"But you two hate each other!" James reasoned.

"Grow up James!" Rose shouted before walking out the door. She'd heard enough from all parties to figure everything out and she certainly didn't want to explain her slip of the tongue to James. Her head from pounding from all the adrenaline that was pumping, she needed to get away. But before she could get to an apparition zone, someone had caught her wrist.

"Rose, wait," Scorpius said.

"Don't touch me!" Rose shouted as she struggled to get herself free from his grip.

"Just let me explain," he pleaded.

Rose snorted, "Explain what? Explain how you took this 'job' as a laugh. Intending to watch me get hurt I assume right? And leading me on was such a laugh, you decided to take it to the next level and make me just another notch on your bed? That was your whole plan wasn't it? I bet James didn't even have to convince you at all to do this. Were you just bored one day and thought, 'Hey! Let's go and hurt Rose idiot Weasley because I can.' Well congratulations, mission accomplished. I hope you got your thrills."

"Rose, please," Scorpius whispered sadly as if her words had just hurt him.

"Just leave me a alone," Rose said tiredly. "Your mother probably wants to see you," she added.

"My mother?" he asked.

Rose sighed, "In the hospital." Scorpius looked worried as he contemplated her words but before he could say anything else, she took his moment of weakness and ran across the halls to the appparition zone.

A/N: Finally, the explanations! Thoughts? (besides my prolonged absence :) Sorry!)
