Sorry for being so late on the upload. Band has been time consuming and last weekend I was at RTX. That was amazing. Got a picture with Ryan, Michael, and Lindsay. Either way, I appreciate all support and I hope you like this chapter. Also, I see other authors do this every chapter and I don't think it's necessary but I'll do it anyway, I don't own RvB and I NEVER will. I only own my OC (Cross) and all that other stuff I made up (non-canon).
Chapter 27: Investigation Part 4 – Team Theta
"Okay, so I go in first and then you enter a few minutes later?" South asked as she looked over at the bar she was about to enter. She received a nod from North and Theta.
"This looks like the most violent place around." North explained as a man was thrown through one of the saloon's windows. "If we're going to find out anything about this 'Blood Paw' it's going to be here." After a few seconds of silence, South let out a sigh and checked to make sure that her gun was still hidde. She waved to North and then made her way across the scorched earth towards the bar.
The first smell that hit South was Alcohol. The place reeked of it. The said substance was everywhere. It was smeared across the floor and splashed across the walls, tables, and even on the ceiling. South gave a short gag before steeling her nerves and senses and walking forwards. The men around her stopped what they were doing and watched her as she passed them. The Freelancer simply rolled her eyes and continued on. Once she reached the main bar she ordered a shot of Vodka and sat down on a rather wet stool. She carefully surveyed the area looking for anybody to investigate. Her eyes fluttered over to the entrance as she heard somebody enter. South locked eyes with North as he walked inside the bar. He gave her a slight nod before continuing his path towards the side of the room. As she continued to look around, she noticed a rather peculiar thing.
To her right was a man covered entirely by a dark red trench coat. His face was hidden by the high collar of his attire. The rest of the bar was rather boring. Almost everybody had a heavy weapon beside them and it seemed all of them were either completely wasted or right on the edge of going over tipsy. The sounds of bottles smashing and people singing filled the room and South tried her hardest to ignore it. She turned her attention back to the man with the red coat. Something felt off about him and she tried to place it. Right when she was about to give up, she noticed something under one of the folds of his high collar. It looked like a paw with a sort of liquid down it. It was a dark red and it seemed to be running down the-. South did a double take. Blood and a paw. Blood Paw. She hid her excitement and turned towards North. She gave the signal she and North had made up. She grabbed her Vodka and downed it in on gulp. South then proceeded to smash the empty glass on the counter earning her a few weird stares from the ones around her.
North however immediately recognized the sign. He watched as South tilted her head to the right. He took sight of the man with the red coat and he moved towards the exit.
As he did so, South stood up and dropped her wallet next to the man. She then began to walk towards the door herself. As she was about to exit she turned slightly and caught sight of the man in the coat pick up her wallet and turn towards the entrance. She smirked and continued on. In all honesty, she hadn't actually expected that plan to work.
She made sure to make herself visible as she walked across the street and into a nearby alley way. Sure enough, she heard the man following behind. As soon as South knew that she was out of his line of sight, she quickly ducked into a doorway and waited for the man to enter into the alley way. A few seconds later, she could hear is breathing and cautious footsteps. Suddenly, she heard the man gave a strangled yelp as North apparently leaped out of hiding.
At first, North had the upper hand due to his ambush however, this advantage soon changed sides as the man steadied himself and began to fight back. After removing North from his back, he spun around and landed several punches into Norths unprotected face. However, the Freelancer quickly broke out of his shock and rolled away from a downwards attack. He then stood up and smashed his body into his attacker. North then quickly reached into his own holster drew his gun. However, instead of shooting, he simply smashed the butt of the pistol into the man's head successfully knocking him unconscious.
"Fuck that was hard." North muttered as he leaned backwards and wiped some blood from his lips. "Why didn't you help me?" He asked South slightly annoyed. She simply shrugged her shoulders before tying up the unconscious man.
"I didn't think you needed help." North gave a snort to this before backing up farther into the ally. He then placed the man on the ground before slapping him hard across the face. He was greeted with a groan before the agents eyes fluttered open. However, as soon as his eyes focused they quickly glared at the two Freelancers before him.
"You won't get anything out of me." He growled menacingly. South simply laughed in response causing the man's scowl to slightly falter.
"We'll see about that."
"OH MY GOD! UNCLE, UNCLE! I'LL TELL YOU ANYTHING JUST PLEASE STOP!" The captured man cried. North smirked as he removed his earmuffs. For the past ten minutes, South had been playing recordings of herself singing horribly off-pitch to multiple songs. The strain had finally broken the poor soul. South gave a sharp smile before turning off her device.
"Well then, what were you doing?"
"Waiting for move orders."
"And what would these move orders signal you to do."
"Go to a warehouse…" He answered shakily. South lifted her finger towards the play button. The man's eyes widened in horror. "39283 Ural Avenue!" He blurted out in panic.
"Thank you." South said with a smile. She then proceeded to turn around and walk towards the exit North following in suit after her. Behind them, the man's face darkened and his hands suddenly broke from their restraints. He then reached into a hidden pocket and pulled out a tiny pistol. He raised it towards the Freelancers, intent on killing them. Faster than he could react, North and South both turned around in synch and fired their pistols hitting the man dead on in the face sending him falling backwards over the chair. The siblings lowered their weapons before walking away as behind them the man's blood began to pool on the floor staining the ground a dark crimson.
Slowly getting closer to the finale. Still have a few chapters though before that. The next few chapters will most likely come out a little later than usual but this is due to the fact that I'm going to try to make them longer than usual. That way I don't feel so bad about the long waits. Please review! Favorites and follows are also appreciated. Adios.
