Hey Blackjacks, I'm back again. And since it's Halloween in a few hours, I decided to do a halloween themed chapter. It's gonna be a bit of a time jump from the last chapter, but It'll help get to a point where I can actually take a break from this story.
10:00 OCT 31ST 2013 TERMINATOR MEDICAL ROOM
I hung from the ceiling of the medical ward, rubbing my recently healed arm. "I can't believe you've never celebrated Halloween before," I said, staring perplexed at Joey. "It seems like something you'd really be into."
"I don't know, my mom didn't like it, so I just didn't grow up with it," He signed, looking at me intently. "It does sound fun to me, but why would you want to dress up in a costume if you do it every night?"
"I don't know," I said, squinting and looking over to the bed I'd been sleeping in the past few weeks. "I guess it just doesn't quite feel the same to me as when I'm working, but maybe that's just because there was less gunfire."
"I guess that makes sense," Joey replied, smiling contently up at me. "Are you going to start going back into the field since you got your cast off?"
"Where did that come from?" I asked, grabbing onto the pipe I'd hooked my feet into so that I could get back down on the floor. "Your dad's probably going to want me back, but that doesn't mean I won't be around to visit you or anything, so don't worry."
"Thanks," Joey signed, looking down at the pale blanket covering his legs. "I hope I don't have to be in here much longer."
"Me too," I said, sitting down on the floor and looking at my bare hands. My mind flashed back to that day, the knife cutting through Joeys throat effortlessly.
"Renegade!" Ravagers voice said, snapping me out of my trance. "Since you're up Deathstroke has a mission for us."
I stood up, looking at the already suited man who refused to meet my gaze. "I'll get ready and meet you in the briefing room," I said, Ravager turning on his heels and walking out of the room in response. "I'll see you later Joey."
"Okay," Joey signed before I turned to walk out the door, putting back on the scowl I'd learnt to hide my emotions over the past few months.
01:25 OCT 31ST 2013 TERMINATOR CONTROL ROOM
I walked into the control room, Ravager standing behind Deathstrokes chair, facing the large screen that displayed Jump City First National Bank.
"I'm glad you can finally join us Renegade," Deathstroke said, not even looking back in acknowledgement. "Tonight I'm asking you and Ravager to rob a bank."
"Isn't that kind of kid stuff compared to what we usually do?" I asked, stopping next to Ravager and glancing over at him.
"Yes, it is," Deathstroke said, pulling up the blueprints of the bank as a smaller image that partially covered the picture of the banks exterior. "But considering you've been in the medical ward for over a month we've decided that we should start small."
"Whatever you say sir," I said, looking at the various information sheets on the screen in front of us. "So what's the plan on this mission?"
"You shall enter the bank through whatever means you see fit, and Ravager shall cover you," Deathstroke said, finally turning his chair to look at both of us. "Ravager, if you believe that Renegade is over his head, I expect you to eliminate his opponent."
"Not a problem sir," Ravager said, turning his head slightly to look at me.
"Don't worry Ravager, you won't be needing to waste your ammo," I said, turning around and heading towards the rooms exit.
02:45 OCT 31ST 2013 JUMP CITY FIRST NATIONAL BANK
I slowly lowered myself with my grappling gun, my feet holding onto the titanium cord as I slid down. I stopped myself a few feet above two armed guards who were in front of the large vault. I released my grapple and dropped down behind them, smashing their heads together.
"Risky," Ravager said on the other end of the comms as I turned to face the vault.
"It turned out fine didn't it," I said, pulling up the holographic display on my gauntlet. "Would you mind sending me those files on the way the security system is set up here?"
"Roger," Ravager replied, the files showing up on my screen a few seconds later.
"Thanks mister chatterbox," I said, looking over the encryption specifics for the vaults system. "Damn, this isn't going to be easy."
"Hurry up."
"I'm trying," I snapped, opening up the system and getting down to business.
"I was wondering when you were going to show back up," a familiar voice rang in my ears, stopping me dead in my tracks. "I didn't think you'd be doing something as basic as robbing a bank though."
"Batgirl," i said angrily, trying to compose myself before I turned around to look at her smiling face. "What are you so happy about?"
"Wouldn't you like to know sir," She said, taking up a fighting stance, the smirk on her face turning into a straight up grin. "Shall we?"
"Fine!" I yelled, pulling out my escrima and charging at her, faking a strike before spinning around to kick her with the back of my leg. She blocked my strike with surprising ease, only giving me a few seconds to jump away from her before she'd land a counter attack.
"You're out of shape," she laughed as I fumbled with a retreating flip I used to be able to do in my sleep. "What have you been doing all this time? Sleeping?"
I struggled to stifle a chuckle when I remembered that Ravager was perched somewhere ready to fire. "Even so, I'll be able to take you down," I said seriously, looking around at all the vantage points I could think of.
I charged at Batgirl again, making an obvious escrima strike at her gut that she easily blocked. I quickly spun around her, grabbing her by the neck and pulling her into a blind spot.
"You realize I could easily get out of this right," she said, smiling up at me before I let go of her, a big smile on my face.
"Yeah, sorry, I just got out of the hospital," I said, Batgirls expression quickly changing to one of worry. "Don't worry, Ravager and I just had a bit of a disagreement. But that's not important right now, what is is that Ravager is here somewhere ready to shoot you if he thinks for a second that I can't win this fight."
"So you want me to fake loose to you?" Batgirl asked, her expression still deadly serious. "Shouldn't be an issue."
"Thank you," I said, placing my hand on the side of her face, her leaning into it. "I'm glad Beast Boy gave you my message."
"I'm glad he did too," Batgirl said, smiling up at me softly.
"Make sure to tell everyone hi for me, okay," I said, smiling back at her.
"I will," she replied, grinning devilishly again. "Now get it over with, we don't have all night."
"Sorry," I said before slamming her head into the wall, making sure that I didn't crack her skull, but still knocking her out. I walked out of the blind spot and got back to hacking the vault, a smile still plastered all over my face.
"Nice work,"
Well that wasn't really too halloween themed, but it happened on halloween, and it was definitely nice to finally have Babs and Dick interact in a friendly manner again. Well, thanks for reading everyone, and please review.
