Hello, There

Obi-Wan opened his eyes as the buzzer on his door alerted him to a visitor. He took a moment to glance around before getting up; he had nearly forgotten that he was on a ship.

"Hello, Luke. What can I do for you? I trust the scouting project remains a success. What did you call that planet again?"

"Hoth," answered the boy a little restlessly. "And it's going just fine. Our patrols around the system picked up an Imperial ship on the outer edge of the system and… Well, I think you're gonna want to see who they captured. Security is putting her in the brig until we find out what she's up to. It does look like she was tracked, but we're checking anyway."

"Now that does catch my interest," the old man noted lightly, raising his eyebrows with curiosity.

An older, middle-aged man was squatting down with concern in front of the prisoner, who was secured to the upright metal chair. Her head was hanging limply and her shaggy mid-length hair was obscuring her face. The man spoke softly, a twinge of guilt traveling with his words.

"Come on, sweetheart, it's me. Where have you been all these years? At least look at me. The other security boys are telling me you're refusing to eat or drink anything. Why is that? At least say something."

"Lieutenant," the old Jedi addressed him from outside the cell, "perhaps I will have a little more luck in communicating with our guest."

The lieutenant approached the newcomer and lowered his voice.

"Master Jedi, with all due respect, I was her pilot for a reasonable amount of time. I was her friend and…I may or may not have been the reason she was stuck in a rock for over a decade."

"Have you had any luck?"

"No, but –"

"Then, can't I have a crack at it? Liam, I know you once cared greatly for her, but much has happened since you left her to her own devices."

Onasi bowed his head in admission.

"You should know that she has answered one question at least."

"And that is?"

"She's here to kill you."

Obi-Wan wasn't worried at all. He merely walked into the cell, pulled up an extra chair, and sat down in front of the prisoner. Seeing that he was no longer needed, the lieutenant reluctantly left the room. Ben leaned forward with a ghost of a smile to look at her downturned face.

"Hello, there." No response. "I know as well as you that you let yourself get captured."

She stirred and looked up with tired eyes.

"The Emperor ordered me to kill you. I had no choice in the matter."

"He was probably a little displeased by your rescue antics on the Death Star. I was supposed to die that day."

"He was more than displeased."

She raised her head and Obi-Wan could now see the faint burn scars at least on her arms and neck from some sort of torment.

"You won't kill me, Sheena. I think I can help you."

"You have a rebellion to attend to," she snapped back lazily.

"I'm too old for politics and wars. My duty is to help you."

"You can't help me," she sneered slowly. The Dark Side hung around her like a veil. "I am a threat to you."

"You did all of this – you sided with the Emperor – to protect me and Luke. And you succeeded." The scarred woman just stared at him darkly, a shell of what she had been. Obi-Wan gently brushed her hair out of her face. "Now, it's our turn to help you."

Her eyes softened for just a second - pain, loneliness, and pleading.

"Just leave me."

Master Kenobi peeked over his shoulder at Luke, who was watching with fascination.

"You may return to your duties. I must remain here." He then leaned back to make himself more comfortable and looked with compassion on his old friend. She had saved his life when Fate dictated that he would die; he had a debt to pay. "I'm not leaving you, Sheena."

The End. I hope you enjoyed this little tale. Please, please review! This was my first real crossover and I know they're not as popular, but I enjoyed playing with this idea. I'm off to my last year of college, so wish me luck!
