AN: I don't know what to say here, just read the story. AND THIS ISN'T THE LAST ONE; this will at least go to 30 chapters.
Song: The Last Goodbye by Billy Boyd ((really good song; played at the end of the Hobbit: Battle of Five Armies))
"What is it, what's wrong? Why are you crying?" Alex changed back into his normal form and pulled Kyle close. He picked her up and held her like a baby. "Shhh, shhh, it's alright." He looked at the others for help. Ryu was looking around the corridor, while Bramble was telling Amantha (still in weapon form) where they were.
"Put me down please." Kyle whispered. Alex complied. Kyle stood in the middle of the corridor, studying the walls. The vines had a pattern. She suddenly charged at a wall and used the vines to climb up to the roof of rock. She pulled off one of the flowers. "Canna?" She asked it. Kyle looked down at her friends, who stared at her in confusion. "The magic leaf on Amantha's neck, the man-placed vines, the flower stench that seemed to follow us. The witch led us here. This was the end game."
"You're brighter than you used to be. You always were smart." The flower said. Kyle stared at it.
"Is the witch controlling you, Canna? Are you alright?" Kyle seemed scared, not for herself, but for Canna.
"You don't get it, do you? Tell your friends our story; I'm fairly certain they're confused. You dragged them into this." With that, the flower disintegrated. Of course, there were other flowers, but Kyle couldn't reach them. She nodded at Alex and jumped down, landing in his arms. She her face off on his shirt and then he put her down. Amantha changed back into human form, concerned about the silence. Bramble joined Ryu and Dasalis a few feet ahead of her.
"I bounced around the system for a while when I was younger. Eventually I ended up at St. Lucas, a small home in Massachusetts. There were 5 other kids; Marcus, 17, Albert, 15, Atticus, 15, Daniel, 12, and Canna, who was 10. Marcus told me that the home used to be run by a sweet old lady, but she had recently died and left the place to her 30-something year old daughter, who I knew as Madam Peyton. She was mean, like Ms. Hannigan from Annie, and she wanted to get rid of us as soon as possible. At first, she didn't want to take me in, but the Board made her. After Marcus' birthday, he moved out and I never saw him again. Atticus was adopted a time or two, the second time was his forever home, and that was a few months before my adoption." Kyle took a breath, tried to stop herself from shaking. "Since Canna was the only other girl, I never left her side. We did everything together and basically became sisters. Before my 7th birthday, Madam Peyton told me about how she was emailing with a couple in the Carolinas that wanted to adopt. She took pictures of me in the nicest clothes she could find and sent them. I tried to pull Canna into the photos too, but Madam Peyton said no. I had promised Canna..." Kyle trailed off, tears in her eyes. Alex rubbed her shoulder, trying to process all this new information. "I had promised Canna that we would never be separated. We would become real sisters, with the same parents. I have a habit of either making very quick, strong, trusting relationships with people, or create no connections at all. On the day Mom and Dad came to get me, Canna went with Albert to the market. He was 16 and could drive. It was my birthday. I didn't know they were coming that day; Madam Peyton decided to make it a surprise."
"AND THEN YOU LEFT ME, WITHOUT A SECOND THOUGHT!" The ceiling screamed. Amantha stumbled backwards, tripping and rolling a few feet. She was in the entrance to a passageway. She tried to stand up, but only stumbled back more.
"THAT'S NOT WHAT HAPPENED!" Kyle yelled at the walls. "I was delighted at first of course; I wanted a real home. But when they tried to make me leave, I begged them to stay. Wait for you to get back so you could come too. Madam Peyton told them it was because I was nervous, and that this "Canna" person was an imaginary friend. I cried for weeks, Canna!" A mist appeared from a passage on the right. Long black hair appeared.
"You left me." She growled.
"Canna.." Kyle gasped.
"YOU LEFT ME!" The mist disappeared and revealed Canna, who was charging at Kyle with green energy flickering from her hands.
"CANNA!"(-Kyle) "KYLE!"(-Alex)
