Thank you sooo much for the reviews on the last chapter guys it made me feel loads better :)
"Where are you going?" Zoe asked as she began to wake up, noticing the space in the bed next to her was empty and that Nick was standing beside it putting on one of his famous suits.
"Out" Nick replied as he began to put on his tie. He didn't want to give anything away at this point.
"What do you mean out? Out Where?" Zoe questioned, sitting up in bed.
"Just out" Nick laughed, he could see that it was winding Zoe up not knowing. He went and sat on her side of the bed next to her. "I won't be long I promise" He told her, moving loose strands of hair from her face and tucking them behind her ear.
"What are you up to Nick Jordan?"
Nick smirked. "You will find out soon enough, trust me" He said before giving her a kiss. "All the kids are still fast asleep and I will be back as soon as I can, just call if you need me" He told her, picking up his suit jacket off the floor and quickly putting it on.
"You better not be going back to work"
"Of course I'm not I've just got something to sort out"
Zoe raised her eyebrows quizzically as she watched him rushing about.
"Right I will see you later Zo" Nick said before quickly picking up the rest of his things and leaving the room.
"Urm Yeah bye" Zoe called. She hated it when he didn't tell her what was going on, she knew he had something up his sleeve, it was obvious. That was part of the thrill of Nick Jordan, he could be quite secretive and mysterious at times.
"Where the hell have you been?" Zoe asked in a slightly raised voice as Nick entered the front room, finally returning from his mystery morning. She was sat on the sofa giving Phoebe her bottle.
"Sorry I was longer than I anticipated"
"You've been gone 4 hours, what was so important?" Zoe wasn't pleased at all, she had had the morning from hell looking after all three kids on her own.
"You will find out soon" Nick repeated. He took a letter out from the inside of his coat and handed it to Zoe. "Here this is for you" He said as he gave it to her. It was red and looked very much like a birthday card. The word Zoe was scrawled across the front in Nick's hand writing with two kisses signed below.
Zoe's hands were full so she indicated for him to put it on the arm of the chair beside her. Nick felt a bit disheartened that she hadn't opened it straight away but he could see that she was busy.
"I think Phoebe's got a chest infection" Zoe worriedly told him as she cradled her baby daughter back to sleep.
"What?" Nick began to panic at this point, he knew very well that infection or illness at this stage could be potentially threatening after her difficult start in life. Her little body was still very weak and vulnerable.
"She's feverish and has slight difficulty breathing" Zoe explained, as if they were treating a patient in the ED.
"Here let me take a look" Nick offered, he took off his suit jacket and carefully took Phoebe out of Zoe's arms. She looked so tiny when she was in Nick's arms as his giant hands cradled and protected her. She immediately began to cry as she was removed from her mothers arms but Nick soon managed to soothe and calm her down again.
He sat down besides Zoe and listened to his daughters breathing "I think you're right" Nick agreed "we will have to keep a close eye on her" He said turning to Zoe.
"Yeah" Zoe agreed. She let out a huge sigh and just flopped back onto the sofa running her hands through her hair in exhaustion.
Nick could see how tired and stressed she was. "You alright Zo?" He asked rubbing a hand across her leg.
"Yeah fine" Zoe turned to him letting out a smile, but Nick wasn't fooled he could see that she was past exhausted.
"Go and have a bath and get some rest" He ordered. "I'll hold the fought down here"
"Sure?"
"Yeah go on you look like you need it"
"I will take this with me then" Zoe smiled, picking up the card that was still unopened before heading upstairs.
Zoe climbed into the bath and instantly relaxed as she slid into the boiling hot water filled with bubbles. It was the perfect moment of relaxation she needed right now. She picked up the card carefully studying the front before opening it, she could instantly see that it was from Nick but she had no idea what it could be for, there were no special occasions right now. She slowly began to open it and inside wasn't a card but instead a piece of paper which read; 'BE READY AT 7'OCLOCK TONIGHT, ALL MY LOVE, NICK XX'
As she read it her heart melted, this is what he had been planning all day. She smiled as she read it over again, it was such a cute idea. She guessed he would be taking her out for a meal or something.
"Nick" Zoe whispered entering the front room to where Nick was asleep on the sofa. She was wearing her dressing gown and her hair wrapped in a towel after just getting out of the bath.
Nick began to wake up and sat up slightly as Zoe made her way to sit beside him, kissing him before he even had the chance to say anything. "I think it's a lovely idea" She beamed.
"Maybe not so much now if Phoebe isn't very well" Nick seemed slightly upset that his plan hadn't gone as well as he had originally hoped.
But Zoe on the other hand was more than happy with the idea, she appreciated all this effort that Nick had gone too and as much as she wanted to stay with her daughter whilst she wasn't very well, she was more than ready for a night out and to spend quality time with Nick again... just the two of them. "I'm sure she will be fine, had you arranged a babysitter?" She asked.
"Yes Sam and Tom"
"Well there you go, two amazing doctors here if she did get worse and we can always come straight home" She tried to persuade him. "Anyway I am more than ready for a night out, it's long overdue" Zoe laughed, she couldn't even remember the last time that she had been out, it must of been before she got pregnant at least. And her and Nick hadn't been on a 'date' since their brief relationship years ago.
"That's sorted then, better go and get myself ready hadn't I" Nick said getting up off the sofa.
"Ah ah, ladies first" Zoe jumped up playfully pushing Nick out of the way, laughing as she raced upstairs before him.
