CHAPTER TWENTY-NINE

(BPOV)

I tried to fight against Edward to no avail. His strength far outmatched my own and it seemed to delight him in some sick and twisted way when he forcefully tied me to the kitchen chair, his golden gaze locking on my lips.

"This will be fun-" He mused, turning toward Tanya who stood idly by with an eager expression.

"Let me go!" I screamed, feeling the fear painfully claw it's way up my throat.

He had me right where he wanted me.

"Would you like to see Charlie?" Edward then toyed, his daunting look making my stomach churn.

"Yes." I softly admitted, looking away from him as he hurriedly retreated to a lower level of the house.

I soon heard the loud crashes and the yelling, my heart squeezing painfully when I recognized Charlie's harsh tone.

"Dad!" I screamed, only to feel Tanya's harsh hand across my left cheek, her hit hard enough to make me dizzy. I blinked rapidly as the drops of blood began to stain their white carpet.

A hungry hiss sound came from the back of her throat as she licked the blood from her trembling fingertips.

I met her hungry gaze, knowing she could end my very human existence with one bite. My mind filled with Jacob as she took hold of me by the hair, painfully yanking my head back to meet her lustful stare.

"Tell me, Bella... this wolf you claim to love... would he love you if I changed you? Would he love you then?"

I bit my tongue as the image of Jacobs smile came to me... yes... he would... even then...

"Answer me." She insisted, tugging harder on the locks of hair and causing me to let out a strangled cry.

"Yes- even then."

A loud bang caused her to release me suddenly as Edward swung open the cellar door, his face contorted in anger as he shoved a beaten Charlie to my feet. I tried to move, but couldn't as the restraints held me put.

Charlie could hardly move as he pulled himself up off the floor, his hands quick to cradle my face the way he used to when I was a mere child.

"Bella, did he hurt you?" He asked, seeing the tight ropes wrapped around me.

"I'm okay." I assured him.

"For now-" Edward added.

"Let her go!" Charlie yelled. "You can keep me. Kill me for all I care but let Bella go. She doesn't belong to you."

"You're wrong Charlie. Yes she does. She has belonged to me all along."

"You left-" Charlie countered, balling his hands into fists now.

"But I came back for her. She is mine. I have a forever claim on her and what was promised to be mine... will be-"

"Jacob will kill you." Charlie coldly spat back.

I watched the hatred and undiluted anger spread across Edwards face from his remark.

"Not if I kill him first."

"No!" I gasped, struggling again to get free.

"Enough." Tanya yelled. "My patience is growing thin with these useless charades. You know what is expected of you, Bella."

I glanced over to Charlie who continued to give Edward a murderous glare.

"I won't go with you-" I protested.

Edward then took hold of Charlie, forcing him down on his knees again as he pulled his head back.

"Don't!" I yelled, seeing him reach his hand out toward Tanya. She placed a kitchen knife in his awaiting palm and licked her lips in anticipation.

"Don't make me!" Edward hissed. "Cause I will. One small slice is all it takes. Tanya is not nearly as controlled as I. If you want to keep Charlie alive, you'll come with me."

"This was your plan all along?" I asked in a shaky breath. "Was this what you wanted?"

"I wanted you Isabella but you have betrayed me for another."

"You left me here in the woods. Remember."

"I did so for your protection and I will always protect that which is mine."

I met Charlie's gaze, seeing him shake his head once at me.

"How do I know you'll keep him alive if I go with you? That you won't kill him anyway? Once I've left with you."

"You'll have to trust me, Bella. You see, right now it is only us and the wolves that are involved. However, if you continue to push my hand further than I will have no choice but to bring in a third party. Maybe someone near and dear to your Jacob. Maybe someone like Billy. Tell me Bella- Do you think Jacob would do well without either of his parents?"

"You're a monster." I breathed.

"Maybe so, but aren't we all." He countered.

I was suddenly jolted as Tanya began to cut the ropes that tied me to the chair, my eyes wide with disbelief as she let them fall.

"There's no need to keep you tied. After all, where are you going to run? We'd catch you before you could blink."

I remained silent, knowing her words to be true. I had nowhere to run. I wasn't fast enough.

Edward cut the zip tie from Charlie's wrists and I was quick to cling to him.

"I'm so sorry, dad!"

"It's okay, honey. At least we're here together."

"You won't be for long." Tanya chimed, grabbing my arms and leading me out of the house.

"Where are you taking her!"

"To Italy Charlie. You are more than welcome to accompany her, though you won't return in human form or even at all. The choice is yours."

"No...dad. No. Stay here. Go to Billy's... Don't-"

"I'm not letting you take my daughter!"

"Dad, please!" I begged.

Edward hissed as Charlie drew closer to me. "You'd be smart to listen to her."

"If I go with you willingly, I want his safety a guarantee and Jacobs. You leave them alone."

"I have no use for them, Bella. The plans I have for you far outweigh any vengeance I could carry out. It's a misuse of my time really."

"Yes, we have more important things to do. We'll leave your humans to their own demise." Tanya sighed, hauling me down over the steps and toward an awaiting car.

Tears streamed down my face as I caught one last glimpse of Charlie, his own tears falling as Edward forced me into the back of the black Mercedes. I began to sob as Charlie called my name.

"Bella!"

The car jolted us forward as Edward hit the gas.

"We have to hurry to catch the plane. Aro is waiting."

My head whirled at the name as my tears continued to stream. The feel of Tanya's cold hand soon made me flinch away from her.

"There... there... no need for sorrow. A new life awaits you Bella. One with no limits and endless opportunity. All that you desire will be yours."

I huddled myself closer to the door as we sped down the highway. My body trembling when I heard the unmistakable sound of a loud and anguished howl echo in the distance.

Jacob...
