L had locked Malli's door from the inside just before they started reading Lindzie's journal. They sat on Malli's bed as Malli explained that she had only read the first two pages in the journal and showed them to him. They flipped through the pages and noticed that each entry was a few days apart and that every entry had to do with Lindzie's investigation on Light being Kira.
"It's obvious that she used the journal I gave her for to keep notes on her suspicions of Light being Kira." Malli said, looking away from the journal to face L.
"Just be glad she thought to make the journal useful to you at some point in time and thought of some way to use it and to document notes that might be helpful to the investigation." L mumbled as he flipped the page, glaring at the journal.
"She went into the relationship knowing that she might die." Malli said sadly, looking at her lap.
L wrapped his arms around Malli and pulled her in for a hug. A light pink tinted his cheeks, as well as Mallis. She was glad it was L who was comforting her rather than Light.
If it was Light, I would have taken control, despite your wishes, and he would be on the ground with a foot in his face.Sayumi snarled, making Malli inwardly growl.
"We should get back to work." Malli mumbled. "We need to solve this case as soon as possible. I can't stand know that Light may be my best friend's killer."
"I can't stand the fact that Light is the killer." L growled. "And we we don't have the proof to lock him up."
"Maybe Lindzie's journal will be the proof." Malli looked up at L and smiled.
"Let's hope so." L smiled hs, rare, yet so gorgeous smile. A genuine smile. His true smile. One that Malli is sure that only she has seen.
Malli took the journal and flipped through the pages with L and they discussed each entry.
"Look, Ryuzaki!" Malli cheered, as she flipped the page to the next entry that had some pictures, The quality wasn't HD, but it was still clear enough to see each and every name or word that has been written in them. "These pictures must be of the 'Death Note' she wrote about! This must be her proof!" She said excitedly, leaving the page as it is, so she and L could read the entry.
DAY FORTY
Today I got a hold of Light's so called note book. We were on a date which took place after school at a corner coffee shop. We had just gotten out of school, so we still had our school bags.
Light had went to the washroom, leaving his bags with me. When he was out of sight, I reached into his bag and pulled out a black notebook. It said Death Note on the cover, so it must be the one I saw a while back. I opened it and there was nothing but names and cause of deaths written in the pages. I quickly pulled out my phone and took pictures of all the pages. I also saw instructions on how to use the notebook, so I took pictures of it. I also ripped a page out of the book and carefully put into one of my school books that wasn't in my school bag, which I then put. I then put the notebook back into Lights bag just before he came back as well as my phone. When I saw him coming, he wasn't alone. I saw this ghostly figure floating behind him. Not wanting to be caught, I smiled and ran up to hug him and he payed and I put my school bag on my back and I told Light that my dad wanted to see me and that it was important. I then rushed out of the coffee shop and went home.
The pictures you are about to see are what I saw. The names in the Death Note are the names of the people who were killed by Kira. I have made the conclusion that Light is Kira.
L and Malli flipped through the pages as they looked through the journal. examining all the names in the photos and as they flipped to the last page of photos, they saw a piece of lined paper that was folded carefully and placed into the journal. Malli noticed small stripes of tape keeping it in place.
"That's….." Malli started to say, but trailed off as she looked that the paper. She looked up at L. "Do you think it could be….."
"It most likely is." L said, thinking exactly what she is thinking. He flipped the page and there was one last piece of writing.
The lined piece of paper that I placed in this journal is the piece of paper that I have ripped out of the Death Note.
Malli, if you're reading this, please note that Light is Kira and be careful around him. I may be dead, but I'm pretty sure I have provided enough evidence that Light Yagami is Kira. Please give this to L if you ever meet him or if you are with him at this moment, please, make sure he reads this and looks at the photos. I made sure to grab a piece of the Death Note, knowing that L would want to test it out to see if works or not.
Also, if you touch the paper, you will see the ghostly figure I saw. Take note that is a Shinigami, or Death God, the original owner of the Death Note. I have spoke to him once, when Light wasn't around and he said that he takes no sides and that he is merely just watching. Do not fear him. It is Kira you should fear the most.
Remember I'll always love you!
~XOXO LOVE Linzie
Mall teared up at Linzie's words. She wiped the tears with the sleeve of her sweater. L noticed and hugged her, wanted to comfort her in anyway he could. He then flipped the page back to the piece of paper from the Death Note. Malli touched and and when she looked up, she didn't see anything there. L then too touched it, also not seeing anything.
"He must be with Light." Malli said, quietly. She looked up at L, who nodded and continued to look through the pictures in the journal. He looked around the room to make sure there was no 'Shinigami' and whispered in Malli's ear, "Quickly, put the journal back in the hiding place u had it last and I'll look around the room just to be sure that we are actually alone in the room."
Malli nodded. She closed the journal and opened her tampon box and removed some of the tampons. She then placed the journal into the box and placed all the tampons back into the book and closed it. She then went into her washroom, which was connected to her room, and placed the tampon box into the cabinet under the sink. She then returned to L, who was waiting in her room.
"We are alone. I also scanned the washroom while you were hiding the journal." L reported. Malli nodded and sat down on her bed.
"Did she provide enough evidence?" Malli asked quietly, hoping that Lindzie did, in fact, proved the right amount of evidence.
"I believe she did." L confirmed. "I'm going to have to test the piece of paper she provided out, to see if it works. I also have to confirm the names of the Kira victims with the names in the photos, but I'll do that when Light is not around. I also will have to read the instructions that she provided in the photos as well. Also, I'm going to have to lock your room from the outside while both you or I am in the room. I don't want anyone to look through anything in the room. Especially through the journal. The only people allowed in this room are both you and me."
Malli nodded. L motioned for her to follow and she obeyed. The left her room and L locked it behind him. They went towards L's computers and Malli was welcomed with a warm hug from Matsuda. L felt a small bit of jealousy rising, but ignored it. He knew that they were like brother and sister.
"Mall! Ryuzaki!" Matsuda greeted, releasing Malli from his grip. "How you you?"
"Hello to you, too! Matsuda!" Malli greeted back. "I'm doing great how about you?"
"I'm doing great. How about you, Ryuzaki?" Matsuda looked over at L.
"Working." L said, as he head for the computers.
"Awww!" Matsuda pouted. "That wasn't a real answer!"
"Leave him be, Matsuda." Malli giggled. She noticed Light over by the computes, next to L. She mentally gasped, keeping a happy smiling face and a cheerful look in her eyes, not wanting to cause any suspicions. She saw a ghostly figure next to Light. She could hear his creepy, psychotic laugh and he looked as if he knew something, but wasn't letting on to it. She wasn't to sure if he knew that she and L could see him or not. Though, Malli was sure that L was aware of his presence.
Sayumi. Malli though to her sister, as she walked over to her laptop and sat on the couch. She immediately turned the laptop on, plugged in her ear phones, and went straight to YouTube and started watching random anime MEPs and AMVs. She needed to get as much information from Sayumi as possible, that is she had any.
Yes, Malli. Sayumi giggled.
Have you ever heard of Shinigami? Malli asked. Or in other words, a Death God?
Yes. Sayumi said sternly. Once when I took control, I saw one with Light. He saw me and he flew over and we spoke. He knew that I wasn't an actual living person and that I reside in you in the form of a split personality.
What did he tell you? Malli asked, suspiciously.
He told me about the this notebook called the Death Note. Sayumi answered.
Did he tell you the instructions of the Death Note? Malli asked.
He only told me one rule. Sayumi grumbled. He wouldn't tell me the rest. He only told me the main use of the Death Note.
What is it? Malli asked sweetly, as she was starting to get inpatient. She didn't want to talk more than she had to. Sure talking to a sibling is alright, but talking to a dead one that resided in your body as a split personality? That's not necessarily the most healthiest thing to be doing. If Malli were in public, and if she accidentally thought out loud? People would think she was Schizophrenic! She didn't want that. She also didn't want Light to find out that she had some sort of Split Personality Disorder.
He said that the Death Note kills people. Sayumi's tone of voice became very serious. The first rule is: The human whose name is written in this note, shall die.
